Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. They will invite others to come together, united by their passions, to share in this adventure. We invite you to join us too, as we bring our dreams to life. Welcome to Manor & Maker.

This was just wonderful! You all looked perfect! What a lovely day! I so enjoyed the photography ! I have a tin type of my great grandmother, so it was so interesting to see what her experience might have been like. And she does have a wonderful hat and parasol in the photo. It was taken in NY . She owned her own business down by the South Street Seaport. Which was pretty amazing at the time for a woman to own a business. My uncle left me a beautiful book of all Matthew Brady’s photos of the civil war. I treasure it. Thank you so much! How nice to see Vivienne and Simon , and Andi! Of course your lovely mom! I would love someday to visit !

What a great idea for a gathering of artists. How inspirational. Who doesn't love to dress up in period costume? In honor of France's historic cave art, you could have a neanderthal weekend with art inspired by neolithic wall paintings. Come dressed in animal skins as your favorite cro-magnon artist or muse. It would be a hoot!🦉
Will you be posting any of the other art product from the event on-line? I'd like to see how Steve's turned out.

This vlog was fascinating. You all outdid yourselves on your costumes and preparation. Seeing the old photography used this day and age was enlightening. The photographer totally transcended you all back in time, even to the facial expressions. It's totally amazing! I would love to see a workshop on this in the future. Perhaps this could be an annual event. The drawings and artwork were equally fabulous. Well done all. You helped me forget my pain for a while.❤

Hi Sara & Stephen, everyone looked so lovely! I love all your videos, but this one really resonated with me and brought so many wonderful memories...about 50 yrs ago, my Aunt took up photography for a hobby and had a dark room made and developed her own pictures, and she allowed me to help her with...which was by no means a small thing as she was a perfectionist and not very patient, so allowing me, a not quite teenager to assist was so wonderful...I loved it! So thank you so much for bringing back so many great childhood memories for me! You both are just wonderful. Have a wonderful rest of the week! Take really good care, stay well! Belle Époque, oh how I’d love to go back in time to that era. In Cannes they have big black and white photo’s covering construction zones showing that time. So elegant and beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed the costumes, the hats, the photography and the company. Thank you.

this week's was outstanding
This was absolutely amazing! I'm watching this with my four year old grand daughter on vacation and we just toured the Jekyll Island Club historic district yesterday which most buildings are well over 100 years old. She is amazed! She LOVES the clothes and hats especially! Thank you for helping me teach her a history lesson!
All you need is an old hat, lots of you tube videos on how to cover with other fabrics, then add flowers and bows. My feathers were old ones I picked up from a antique fabric event, cost me a few pounds. Washed them with soap and water and dried with a hair drier and they were as good as new.

Sarah, you and Steve look so cute in the photo with the vintage clothes. The vintage clothing was a wonderful peek back at the great styles of yesteryear. In addition, Chateau Love never disappoints. What fun you get up to! Wow!!! You all look fabulous and especially Maman qui est adorable. The development of the plate is very interesting and crazy how he knows when the chemical exposure is enough when to the untrained eye, it doesn't. And, original antique cameras ans lenses! Brilliant.

Hi Sara & Steve, Belle Epoque, what a wonderful time during the Gilded Age. We'll have to compare notes if I get up your way. Downton Abbey is one of my favorites, I can't wait for the third film to hit the theaters. Watching the photographer work with the antique camera and developed the pictures of all of you was exciting and Andie joined you for the event, including another visit to a brocante. Mark & Scott

We were going through old photos and I found a picture of our dad's mom when she was 15. My sister looks just like her. It was so weird because she never said anything about her looking like her.

This took me back to working with my grandfather with his Brownie camera and helping him develop his film in his darkroom in Sausalito California. I have pictures from his many cameras that date 1906 days before the big San Francisco earthquake. To fun to watch thanks for sharing with us
Not to complain, but I can never quite hear those in front of your camera. Perhaps a microphone relocation or volume up?
We don't generally use mics, because it would often take away from the spontanaity. I do try to adjust the volume in editing. Perhaps I need to add some text for those bits....
