These videos are great. I recently purchased a 1998 Kodiak to use for plowing my driveway. As it is 23 years old, I knew it would need some work. These videos are a great source of information for the do it yourself type mechanic.
Happy to help!! We have a bunch more yamaha videos coming!!
Exactly what I needed. Adjusted the valves and got the ol bear running great again. Thank you!
U have good videos dude
Thanks Matt! If you need more helpful tips, check out: ua-cam.com/video/X0AdFxkJiOg/v-deo.html and if you need parts: www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports. thanks for watching and the comment.
Great video!! I appreciate it!
Fantastic video thank you
Very informative! How do you know when to check valve lash ? Does it tick ?
Thanks great vid
This might be a dumb question but what is the "f" letter for under that little inspection plug??
What would cause too much Gap on the valve rocker arm
Aren't you supposed to adjust the adjustment head with a flathead screwdriver and then tighten the lock nut?
I don't see the line on my ATV that you point out at 1:55
Carb cleaned, rebuilt, valves adjust, unit looks neat, fuel tank cleaned, all checked but it doesn't start. it backfires badly. Can it be the timing chain tensioner?
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I found the issue. after many hours working on the ATV inspecting everything. when I adjusted the valves, i replayed on the TDC T mark on the flywheel, HOWEVER, when opening the sprocket cover it was way off. Then i went ahead and inspected the piston position in respect to the sprocket indentation.. it was spot on but the flywheel TDC T mark was none existent! That tells me the sprocket is correct, chain is tight, valves are at the top piston at the top BUT flywheel had shifted? could it be the locking key sheared off? i think i need to open up the crankcase and check the flywheel!? ....rrrrrr
Do you think an 06 Kodiak 400 engine be engine swapped into an 07 big bear 400 irs . Both machines are 4x4
2nd time I've stripped mine down will start but no fuel reaction at all just idles. New carb, coil, plug, stator, plug is fouling out. My window for timing is on side of case after yiu pop off pull start. Got it lined up on T. On upper sprocket theres a big white paint blob hard to tell exactly where that should line up. There's also a factory dot imprinted on the uppet metal sprocket. Could that actually be where my timing alignment is ? Neither the dot or blob line up when lower is on T ?
Mine is doing the exact same have you figured it out?
What would cause my starter to grind really bad when it worked fine before valve job, tiny weird noise from recoil too.
I can tell you what I found on mine. It sounded like a spoon in a blender when starting. 1. Broken/shaved tooth on the starter itself. 2. Broken tooth on the first gear the starter gear turns. 3. Bad one-way bearing behind the flywheel. Replaced all of those and now it sounds perfect when starting.
My chain guide was not in the correct spot
Finally opened her up and got to the flyingwheel. The locking key is missing. I see the groove but the key doesn't stick out at all. need to get the flywheel puller to get it out and see behind it...
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports will do thanks buddy.
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports by the way do you use any sealer when swapping a crankcase gasket? my gasket is turn in one spot
Hey bud I am wondering how you read your feller gauge mind got numbers on .012on top and bottom is .305mm on the intake let me no if this is correct
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports Can a 400 top bolt to a 350 gear case? I have a big bear auto clutch..Or can it be made to work with machining
Called honda intake .06. Ex .16
Whut.. called honda? dis yamahammer sunshine 🤯
.200 or .20 is 200 . .020 is 20
