@dave777blaster The difference is the Ford is a large vehicle that can comfortably hold seven people, fuel economy is pretty good considering. The Nissan is very capable but much more cramped inside. Families need the space, not a low transfer gear. In short, buy what you need.
lol I love the trip to Costco at the end of the video...cause thats exactly where I plan on getting the stuff thats going to fill up the back -- thats for sure.
@MicroOrginisum Thats true... Well, I checked one of those in a Car Show we had in town, It seems to be a great car...However there is something that still does not convince me. I think is the internal panel and dashboard junctions that are still not refined...I could actually find and feel sharp plastic edges in the Explorer and the new Focus dashboards. Still it seems competitive.
@gilljames10 But how often do you go far enough above 70 for that to really matter? I like the 2012, but i think an update to a 6 speed and the new engine for 2012 and then updating the body in 2013 would have even been alright. Honda and Toyota aren't doing anything, the only competition is really the Elantra. The Cruze isn't quite there yet.
ehh the pontiac Aztec would have something to say about that...lmao j/k however the toyota and Jeep [older atleast, not sure about the new ones] s.u.v.s would have soemthign to say about it
@gilljames10 Yea and now i've got a new phone that my phonebook does work with so that complaint is gone. It does really have to rev to get above 70. I've gotten 112 going downhill trying to pass 5 big rigs that were in a convoy. But the Focus can hold a lot of stuff for a small car. I got a big plastic chest of drawers, a fridge, a microwave, 2 big suitcases of clothes, 7 or so full grocery bags, 3 12 packs of soda and other stuff all packed in for my dorm. Didn't block any windows at all.
I drove the new explorer on the wknd, nice vehicle fit and finish quiet cabin not to much wind noise or road noise but. I would like to see ford add the V6 ecoboost engine to the explorer like in the F150 its a great engine and I believe they would sell alot more but ford has to take in mind they have to keep it affordable. The V6 I drove was ok but a little over priced. If ford does find away to mate this ecoboost V6 engine with the Explorer give it a sporty aggressive look.
@bigphat200 From a weak V6 210HP making at most 20 hwy, thats a great improvement....if you need something more efficient, take the 4 cyl eco boost, but with less power...
@montanachevy Hmmm...biased??? I've got a 2008 Focus with SYNC. The first vehicle that had it. My car not only still runs perfectly, but it's pretty peppy for a little 4 cylinder, it also sounds better than most other engines that small, i get 40 mpg doing 70 mph with A/C on between Houston and Lubbock. SYNC can understand what i'm saying when i talk in a normal voice doing 70 with the window down. Only complaint, is that it couldn't download my phonebook. But that's a phone problem, not the car
@LeadHammer In Asia... There is no such thing as buckle your seat belt or a child has to be in a car seat. Here in USA you have to choose from "click it or ticket" and "child has to be in a car seat or a child protection services will take your child away from you for putting your child/ren in risk"
how so ... this was 6 yrs ago? they have progressively gotten worse with everything but their trucks and camaros ...hell the equinox is garbage and just a rebranded Holman[ Australian company who made the new pontiac g.t.o. which also looked like hell in comparison with the mustang, the charger and camaro I am a chevy guy and G.m. guy at heart but they broke that heart when they made the nova into a hatchback , killed the chevelle... all of which I could get past [maybe not the chevelle thing] but caddies aren't reliable anymore licolns outlast at every turn them and trust me I HATE TO SAY A FORD PRODUCT IS OUTLASTING A G.M. If chevy wanted to make a come back they should bring back the chevelle with newer styling
Who ever is gripping over the 17/23... Keep in mind this is a FULL SIZED SUV that puts out 290hp Competitors like the Pilot (smaller than the Explorer) with cylinder deactivation only gets 17/24 that puts out 250hp. So the explorer is very competitive. Fuel economy isn't ground breaking, but it looks like it's ahead of the competition.
so whats the piece of plastic that breaks off supposed to do...did they just say that it's meant to do that so they don't have to admit that theres some quality issues and why does the motor rock around...mounts wore out already or what...i would never buy it..i wanted to see if it was a good car and my opinion is that for being a 2011 and a ford it sucks..i doubt it will last 5 years before something catastrophic goes wrong with the sync system or some other computer. thats just me though.
@DrivenCarReviews @dave777blaster I agree with both of u but Ford should have called it something else and let Familes drive this thing and ppl who really want a TRUCK drive a Explorer. And even though the Pathfinder is on a boxed frame it is still one of the best riding suv out there.
@wtrdogg20 So the Ford is 210 hp, because the Isuzu is 250 hp. I see most ppl driving the Isuzu is only getting 16 but i have a stick shift with leather interior which btw is something car manufactures are getting away from. I short shift a lot which gets me over 20 mph and lets me keep up with traffic. Don't get me wrong I am a Ford man at heart but the American can industry really needs to step up it. There is so much more engine chooses to choose from over sea's. Accountants running Ford.

I choose the Explorer over the Durango anytime ...
Hey Tom Voelk! If you had to choose between the 2012 Ford Explorer or the 2012 Dodge Durango, which one would you pick?
10년전에 탔던 내 애마^^
Don't forget the 3.5 V6 EcoBoost from the Taurus SHO that outputs 365HP. And 0-60 in under 7.0 secs!
@wtrdogg20 What were the torque figures though?
@bigphat200 The old V6 4.0 engine in the old Explorer delivered 210 HP, only....The new engine in the 2011 Explorer is 3.5 V6, 280 HP....
It's actually 290 horsepower 👍
@dave777blaster maybe the unibody Pathfinder, but the 2005+ only gets 21mpg, and that's cruising at 60mph.
@MicroOrginisum Thats true...

@getmo213
17 to 23 EPA= 21 @ 60 mph what;s the difference ?
they should stick an electric motor in it and make it a hybrid
Love my 2011 Ford Explorer limited
Such a robust vehicle
@wtrdogg20 Yes, but the 4.0 delivered impressive torque for when it was introduced. Around 250.
where is the jaw dropping levels of economy?
@gilljames10 But how often do you go far enough above 70 for that to really matter? THE BEST SUV IN THE WORLD
ehh the pontiac Aztec would have something to say about that...lmao j/k however the toyota and Jeep [older atleast, not sure about the new ones] s.u.v.s would have soemthign to say about it

can someone tell me how mechanically ford explore are they good car bad car allot of issues
The Explorer is a mid-sized SUV, not full size. Full size SUV's are Expedition's, Tahoe's, Suburbans, Armada's, Sequoia's, the big boys!
JV Duo The Explorer is a full-size crossover
I drove the new explorer on the wknd, nice vehicle fit and finish quiet cabin not to much wind noise or road noise but. I would like to see ford add the V6 ecoboost engine to the explorer like in the F150 its a great engine and I believe they would sell alot more but ford has to take in mind they have to keep it affordable. They Did that with the Explorer Sport
@bigphat200 From a weak V6 210HP making at most 20 hwy, thats a great improvement....if you need something more efficient, take the 4 cyl eco boost, but with less power...
@LeadHammer On another note, my Friends from India say the same thing. Sad. but true.
@montanachevy Hmmm...biased??? I've got a 2008 Focus with SYNC. The first vehicle that had it. 17 city and 23 hyway ? where is the great mileage?
that's about the same as a Pathfinder which has a boxed frame and Low range transfer case !
if by "about the same" you mean 3 mpg lower for both city and highway for a 4x4 Pathfinder. Don't be a troll.
@LeadHammer In Asia... There is no such thing as buckle your seat belt or a child has to be in a car seat. guysssss GM is back and better than ever

Ima get this for my mom
I really like this....
Aesome review
The old explorer had a v8 and were rear wheel drive. The new explorers no longer offer a v8, and are fail wheel drive(FWD)

Who says "eye four" these days?
It's definitely my taste...

Or the 365hp 3.5 V6 EcoBoost.
@wtrdogg20 Every car is going to have some flaws, i cut my thumb open on a plastic door handle in a Saturn once, i was pissing blood.

17 city 25 hwy is better how? My Isuzu gets that.
It's a computer not a car.
You better delete this comment immediately you confusion and delayer.
@wtrdogg20 Too late :P
@MicroOrginisum Damn man!!! I would sue them!!
FWD truck? WTF! The old explorer's were better! Keep the trucks as truck!
This is an ad, not a review.
Delete this comment immediately you silly.
interior is cool if I buy an old car I'll buy this one and if Ì buy a new car I'll choose Toyota highlander
Want a real SUV? Buy a Jeep! The Explorer is dead. A wrong-wheel-drive explorer??? What is the world coming to?
Saab copy.
what an ugly vehicle, i thought the nissan "puke" was bad!!!!
