are you aware that our Fluval Flex Max design has a "leak" that allows water from the main tank to go directly to the pump chamber? i have written twice to fluval company but no response from them. It really doesnt make much sense. the leak is at the bottom of the "small triangular section" that you mentioned in your video into the pump chamber. i have tested many times and the shop i bought the tank from insist that this is the design and its the same across all Fluval flex
@@Jonathantok No I am not aware of this and haven't seen sings that would suggest that mine does that too. Let's hope that Fluval replies to you soon. Maybe the silicone bonds on your backplate have a weakness (which could be an easy fix if it's the case).
@@Jonathantok someone was saying that leaking into the filter is not a concerning issue, as it simply acts as an input. But I agree, fluval shouldn't be introducing leaks as a part of their design!
Hi. I just subscribed to your channel. You must be from the Province of Quebec. I’m in Montreal. I got the Fluval 32.5 Gallon Aquarium in February. I am really enjoying it. I will be getting a Fluval Flex 15 gallon soon. Merci pour le review de ce aquarium.
Putting it on a piece of furniture that isn’t resistant to water is a huge mistake, I made that mistake, since the tank was expensive on its own for me, I didn’t get the stand, that is where I went wrong. It was doing great for the first 3 months, I was taking care of it so well that I didn’t realize that the water that was dripping here and there from the water changes was slowly causing a problem. What ended up happening was that my dresser, although held the weight of the tank amazingly, wasn’t water resistant, the water from the water changes caused a bubble to form under the tank even with me wiping it away and the pad under the tank, the fish tank cracked on the bottom left side. I was so lucky that I caught it the next morning and thanked god that the whole thing didn’t burst leaving tons of water and my fish on the carpet below, that would of been disastrous as I had it on the second floor. I’m actually impressed with the strength of the glass that it didn’t burst from that crack. Anyways the Fluval company was so amazing that they are sending me a replacement tank, can’t wait for it to arrive in a few days. Love Fluval!
Thank you for sharing your story, everyone can learn from your experience! The furniture the aquarium stands on is key and unfortunately it's often overlooked for many different reasons. Super cool that Fluval is sending you a replacement, kudos to them!
Hey bro, thanks for this video, i'm currently in the market for a tank and you have made my choice much easier! ill be heading to the shop tomorrow to pick one up ;-)
Those triangle areas are the perfect size to fit a fluval M 150 watt heater minus the suction cups. Doing so opens up the massive center part for biological media in bags. The included bio bags and slots are useless for bio filtration but make great spots to house any chemical treatment/filtration bags you want.
Thank you for this video! I just got my Fluval 32.5 today and I'm so excited to stock it after it cycles. I am thinking about doing a betta sorority tank.
Great review I have the fluval flex 15 & 32 gallon aquariums. I enjoy your videos they have helped me with the maintenance of my aquariums. Have you looked into the fluval shaker aquariums? Keep up the good work.
Thank you Joseph, much appreciated! Yes I saw the Shaker series at my LFS and was heavily tempted to get one. Unfortunately, right now I don't have the spare money to buy the one I wanted (the biggest one 😅) and give it a full test and proper review.
Do you seem to think that the filtration doesn't really work very efficiently? I watch the top of the inlet where the water is supposed to go in and it doesn't appear that the water goes into the filter at all! Really weird.
Theres a total of 4 inlets so it does seem quite "weak" but theres a lot of stuff that accumulates in the filters. Its surprising but the filter picks up a lot of stuff.
I saw on an Amazon review that small fish like tetra can get stuck in the back area with the filters. How likely is this to happen? Is it common? I love my tetras lol.
It can happen. For me, only small shrimp were able to get in the back end, no fish. And that was before I added small filter pads in the opening covers. Now I only get some snails that occasionally wander off there. I would recommend adding some filter sponge to the covers to make it harder for the fish to get to the back section.
Do you think the black Fluval tank would look really strange on the white Fluval stand? My office decor is mostly white but I’m hesitant to buy the white tank, because I worry about it showing any little bit of algae and being really hard to keep it looking nice and white.
You are right to be worried about the algae on the white flex. The plastic of the back section does not make it easy to scrape it off and some of my aquariums (black backs) have a little bit of algae at times. As for matching with the decor, I know that black aquariums and white stands is a popular combo, especially in the saltwater part of the hobby. It works out great for them so it probably would too for this. The only part where I'm not so sure is the brown doors and how everything would look in the end.
@@kidsfids7434 that could always be an option! However I'm not sure that the paint would stick well to the ''plasticky'' surface of the stand. I did see a video on YT of someone who painted the white stand black so I guess it is possible.
I have the Flex 57l and 123l. Love the design. I have no filtration issues, my water is always crystal. The temptation to modify it badly coupled with overstocking and overfeeding is why some don't like it imo.
Thank you for such an excellent video! I was also thinking of a school of tetras; penguins, rummies, cardinals, etc.. I see your Rummies behave exactly like my school of bloodfins! Have you ever noticed that in the morning and evening, they seem to really enjoy chasing one another across the aquarium? But during the day, they move less. My school of Lemons don't behave the same way, and I also haven't noticed that behavior with phantoms. Those tend to like spinning around one another, more like south american cichlids.
My rummynose do have different behaviours depending on the time of day. If its morning they hang around the open area waiting for food (even when I'm not in the room) otherwise they use the full aquarium.
I'm getting one soon. I had tye 15g flex and loved it, but quit the hobby for awhile and I'm ready to jump back in. One question...I've heard thar that because of the curved front, it reflects the light in such as way that the plants in the back grow forward instead of straight up. Have you found this?
I do find that the light gets a bit hot and that the water on top is a bit warmer. I purposefully leave the food door of the lid open to allow some air/heat exchange. Forgot to mention it in the video.
I might be getting this tank soon but I am worried about the flexed front panel. Have you found it looks better/worse than a tank with straight panels? Is it harder to clean? Thanks!
Hi! I havent found it to be hard to clean when compared to straight panels. As for the look, it does look nice but I think that I would prefer a clean rimless straight glass one. My comment today is also influenced by the price of the 32g. The price was raised by quite a bit these last years compared to when I originally bought it and for the updated price you can get similar straight glass aquariums.
Yes you can add an airstone if you want. The gap at the back allows you to pass wires for additionnal equipement such as heater, thermometer, air stone.
Great video. We have the 15 flex. And have you put filter floss where the intake goes. How is the flow on it. And the 15. Looking to get another one down the road. Or possibly the fluval 15 sea to try out saltwater
Hi Ken! I am currently not using any filter floss on my tanks but it's something that you can easily add to the flex series if wanted. The flow on both the 32G and 15G are sufficient for my needs, I haven't found any issue with the filtration so far. There is always the possibility to change the pumps with stronger ones if you decide that you need LOTS of flow.
Thanks! To feed CO2 you would need to pass a tube into the aquarium. Most people put it on either the glass in the corners, idealy where the flow goes to allow better dispersion. However I cant say much more because I still haven't tried my hand at it. Aquarium COOP channel had good info on CO2 use if you are more interested.
I only have it setup for freshwater so I cannot help you regarding marine. I can speak from the experience I have with it though. I find that the lid is very tight and that theres almost no evaporation so you might not need an autotop off.
@@DoAqua nice thank you! Could I change the lamp if I wanted? I am worried that marine tanks need powerful lighting for coral and that the stock lamp will eventually be insufficient. If I change the lamp and remove the lid then that introduces evaporation and then I need an ATO, oh god why is this all so complicated 😭 Most reefers I see have their light quite high with no lid, I don't want that, but need solid lighting! Do you know why they place the light so high?
@@goatslayer5957 there are 2 versions of the flex. The marine edition is supposed to have a light adapted for saltwater applications. For the rest I have no clue, sorry
I love the look of this aquarium, but the price is very high, even with all the things it comes with. This is especially true because you almost need to buy the Fluval stand with it because of its weight (with water) and shape. I can buy a 29 gallon standard aquarium and fully equip it for less than half the price. Its standard design allows you to buy a relatively inexpensive (and attractive in my opinion) metal stand that perfectly fits the aquarium. The smaller Fluval Flex models are also pricey, but less so, and are frequently on sale at my local PetSmart. (I got a 15G for $CA107!) I have never seen the 32G model on sale anywhere.
@@DoAqua Yes, I like the 9G too. And you're right about the furniture one can put it on. Because of the depth (front to back) dimension of the 15G, it was hard to find a piece of furniture that it would fit on nicely, other than the official stand. (So that is what I bought.) But the depth and lesser weight of the 9G allows it to fit on many small tables. At the time I bought my 15G I could have gotten the 9G for $CA80; a real bargain. If I was only keeping a betta and a snail, the 9G would have been a good choice. But with my 15, I keep 5 cardinal tetras, 4 Endlers and a guppy with my betta and snail, and the bio-load is within acceptable AqAdvisor parameters.
