The dash, the telescopic tilt steering wheel, the gearshift and the throttle. Running clean. You have not even snorted the girl. Put something behind it for crying out loud and make her work!!! WOW, memories. Thanks JT!!! Cheers.
We had an 1155 for many years. Ours was turbo charged with a chrome straight pipe. You could hear that turbo whistle for miles!! My dad regrets selling it. It was a great tractor! Nothing compared to what they run now, but in its day, it was awesome.
I was 11 years old in 1980, during harvest time, I would get off the bus at home and ride my bike down to the farm and jump in the tractor (either the 1105 or the 1135) to shuttle wagons back and forth from one end of the field to the next and take them to our modern for the time grain leg setup with a covered drive over pit and empty the wagons and go fetch another one to unload working into the sunset, driving great tractors. Your videos bring back so many good memories just watching the masseys you work with. Thank you.
I was 6 yrs old and my dad had a Massey 65 diesel. He worked for govt during the day and built house pads and driveways in the evening with it for 35yrs. He called it a little jewel
We had one of those when I was young. That was the first tractor I got to drive. We had a 3pt chisel plow that I was pulling to smooth out manure piles that had been hauled out with our truck. This took me down memory lane . Thank you.
Sweeeeet! In 1980 My daddy had a Massey 65 diesel, he worked at govt during the day and built house pads and driveways in the evening for 35yrs. He still has it and he calls it a little jewel. Love the 1155 Brings back memories hot wheels made one.
I have an 1135. It has the 6 cylinder no cab. Purrs like a kitten. I just use it to pull my 20’ woods mower. Works well. Love your rig. Good to see others still out there.
We had a new one in 1974. We then bought an 1805. It was disappointing so it went back for a 4840. It could pull the IH 21’ disc then the IH 23 ft field cultivator behind it. And still use less fuel than anything else in red or green. The 1155 would plant or cultivate 145 acres to the tank with 12 row equipment. Also still have the super 90. Still working multi power Some day it will need a new home I hope I find a collection to put her in
Hey JT! loved the video. Just wanted to say the amount of progression which your channel has went under within a 2 year time period is just amazing. I remember when I subscribed to your channel around early 2020 when you had 12 subscribers. Love videos man keep on going👍
Thank you very much! It’s been a lot of work and learning! I figured that since I have so much fun just “doin my thing” that others might enjoy as well😉. Glad to have you along for the journey
Great to see! I restored one with a canopy (no cab) with multipower about 25 years ago. Still have it. We advanced the timing, and I had a friend at a diesel shop set up the pump and injectors. It hit 236hp on my dyno with little smoke and blew the back off the pump in the dyno! Then I put 5 more turns in the smoke screw! More power and still doesn't smoke too bad. Looks like you figured out like I did to trade the cast exhaust elbows side to side for duals. After we got it done, we hooked it to a 6 bottom oliver plow in TOUGH clay. Dad was driving it, i asked him why Massey would use an expensive V8 540 ci to gain only 7 hp over the turbo 354ci 6cyl in an 1135. He had the plow socked in and was digging hard with those 23.1x34s. He chopped the throttle all the way back and let it lug, still digging up hard clay with those tires tires at about 700 rpm for a while, then slammed the throttle up and instantly spun out! He said, "That's why, TORQUE! I usually work mine around 1300 to 1800 rpm. My Allis Chalmers buddy couldn't believe that the green range on the tach for working the engine started at 800 rpm and covered most of the tach. His was a narrow band.
Where the farm I grew up on was a neighbor that ran Massey Ferguson tractors. For some reason they were all straight pipe and fuel turned up. You would hear that music for hours as he worked the acres. 18 and 28 series. He was also known for a Massey Harris 44 with twin tunnel rammed 427 Chevy engines in his puller in the ‘70’s. I saw the two Impalas that the engines were pulled out of, rare! He was known, and his son is known for cutting tractor tire treads for pulling, sharpening. Wayne from outside a small town not far from Hwy 45 in eastern Illinois. Then, there’s the 65 mph pull tractor on a county road story when Wayne and another puller neighbor decided to have some fun…..
Looks like you got a pretty nice old 1155. It wasn’t smoking much at all. The field fit up pretty nice, hopefully you got it planted. Have a safe planting season. Thanks for the videos.
Very cool video. Neat to see these tractors. Wish the cab all worked for you. I’m lucky that my 1486 still has a nice cab that everything still works on it. Great job
My uncle ran Massey Ferguson had the V8 4wheel drive with the car engine befor that the 1105 i belive. He liker them as they had one of the first good cabs prior to John Deere Sound Guard and Case. I put a good many hours on that V8 in a 760 combine. Very powerful engine and economical running
I remember riding in a brand new 1155 with my dad back in 1975 when I was a little boy. We were out working over a field with a disc. I always thought this tractor was Massey’s finest! It just looks like a real beast and just like the MF 10 series combines, has a unique sound! Thanks for the ride along. And for bringing back some great memories! I wonder how well Fluffy would like to spend a ride along on some field work with you? Lol Thanks for the vids!
a wonderful video. this sound of the V8.540 is a dream. I'm happy when I can drive my 760 V8 over my fields again. such a 1155 will remain a dream for me. very rare here in Germany, like my 760 combine harvester.
I worked a lot on the fields with Masseys here in 🇫🇮 and still part time farming. Smaller MF:s, 4355 and 575 but dreaming of bigger machines 💪🏻 Sound of V8, exhaust pipes and fan on the window reminds me of Duell-movie 🤠🚜🚛
Terrific; the Perkins didn't raise a sweat, in fact you seemed to be covering the ground pretty quickly. Still quite a few big Masseys of this era in work on farms in South Australia; not too many 4wd or V8s though. Look forward to the next posting, thanks for making the effort to share.
Many years ago my dad used to drive a same Leone it was twin exhaust like your tractor it was very noisy but sounded nice you had to wear ear defenders in the cab
My former father-in-law had one. He called it a poor man's tractor. "You buy one because you think you're too poor to buy a Deere. And then the Massey will keep you poor." Traded it for a 4640 and never looked back
Absolutely beautiful! 1155 Massey Ferguson in my opinion is just a great big gigantic middle finger to John Deere! I can hear the John Deere jerks just crying your eyes out and not enough tissues to dry up the tears LOL our neighbour had 1155 Massey and ran a shitload of Acres, said it was the best damn tractor he ever owned, and he still has it!
@@bfields1448 we had a the guy up in my. Area used to pull with a 165 Massey Ferguson they just about laughed off the track, until he started doing the pull, the crowd got to their feet and gave him a standing ovation! He gained a lot of respect that day! I love the Massey Ferguson tractors!
Really wish you would put the original (manufacturers) exhaust on that 1155. I've spoke on here before and love the Masseys having grown up in the late 70s early 80s with nothing but top of the line Massey Fergusson tractors from the dealership beings that my grandfather was the local Massey Fergusson equipment dealer. We always had the newest to date tractors on the farm, 1105, 1135, and my favorite, the all mighty 1978-1155. There is no better sound of a tractor than firing up the V8 Perkins. The lope and sound from the original exhaust is nonother than the best. If you would, please change it back.
Like your Fergie 1155, a snorting beast, now I know what to buy if the lottery lotto numbers come up, import an 1155 Fergie in excellent running condition to the UK. Like the dash mounted gear selector and how many gears in the main gearbox(transmission). One thing I change on the 1155 is the 'stove pipes' swapped for short downward pointing stub pipes, ideal for setting off car alarms and bouncing decibels off the walls. What is the spares situation for Fergie 1155s are they easy to get hold off and import to UK?.
Nice . I had a 165 MF best tractor s MF. We have many in Israel on farms older ones from 1970s some have armor plates to protect from Snipers.. Seriously
Geez....worry a little about fall digging with stray bullet from deer hunters but nothing intentionally shot in my direction....I think. Unless it might be another farmer who wants my land. 🤥. Stay safe over there!
I think that Cat 3208 in the 1805 is a bit more noisy! Btw...got my new clutch installed so just making some adjustments and of course re-installing the "dumb bell"! 😁. New Gates belts on those hydraulic pumps. Let you know how it pulls this coming Monday. Thanks for letting us ride along!
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 Sure hope so! That clutch housing is HEAVY and not much room to stand in there between the motor and the front axle...but got it ok using that little trick you did with the tape wrapped around the bolt, pilot tool!

Sickest v8 ever made. I have a ‘76 model, turbo’d, and it dyno’d over 200 ponies. She’s named appropriately Miss Perkins💪🏼
The main reason I loved my 1155 was the turning radius. Talk about turning on a dime. My 253 turns the same way. GOOD TRACTORSQ

Unreal no need for a radio in that tractor just listen to the V8.👌👌👌
