How To Play "Stay With Me" - The Faces

- My second vid, so starting to get the hang of it now...
My attempt at showing how to play The Faces "Stay With Me" in a open E tuning. Apologies for the rather naff tone, but you'll see why at the end of the video ;-)
A tip for slowing down songs to work them out - Google for the AMAZING SLOW DOWNER. This is a piece of software for a PC that allows you to slow down a piece of audio and it preserves pitch and also quality. Really useful...
Update:- for those interested, the tin can amp is made using a "Ruby" circuit found on runoffgroove.com, a 5" speaker (Skytronic) in an old 1 gallon can with the bottom cut off! - Навчання та стиль
Possibly THE greatest opening guitar riffs ever!! And you nailed it, great job mate!!
One of the best intros in rock music.
Top notch. Now I realize with the open tuning why Ronnie used slide for the solo parts....good stuff. Thank you.
Tried playing this for years without understanding what 'open tuning' was... (my bass player clued me in) Came off pretty well nonetheless... Played this at many shows and the audience was none the wiser... However, knowing now exactly how to play it will make the next gig that much better... thanks, stratnut!
Thanks man. 37 years later & many, many "Stay With Me" nights later, you nailed it down for me. Love it. Good teacher-clear & easy to understand.
It sound better than a lot of stuff that's posted on you tube. thanks for the lesson it's so easy but sounds so great! Nice job!
The guitar lesson was terrific -- LOVE the Faces!....the best part was revealing your homemade amp at the end! Priceless!!! Great job, sir!
Outstanding lesson. Very concise and easy to follow. I had this song stuck in my head today for some reason and figured it was a sign to go learn it. Will have to apologize to the neighbors tomorrow because the volume went way up
Nailed the tone, nailed the playing, nailed the tuning. Thank you, working through it now. Much appreciated!
I can't help but smile when you play the run through, great song, clearly explained.
Thanks
Thanks for the perfect lesson. Unlike most youtube lessons, it's perfect & you don't spend time on intro's and the like.
sounds great, im travelling and wont get a chance to try learning this for another half year, once Im back with my guitar Ill be sure to play this great song! thanks for uploading
A brilliant and clear explanation of how to play this... Excellent stuff!
Great lesson, Ronnie would be proud!!!

Thank you so much for the video! Your tone is great and playing impeccable. I'm playing this song with a band of mine, and you helped me get down some of Ron Wood's cool rhythm riffs down
Thanks very much for this; as someone else commented, you're a good teacher.
And I also very much appreciate the assertiveness and authority of your playing.
Thanks, once again,
I just bought my first guitar, and you made this so easy to play. Many thanks.

Thank You! You thought me to play this. Love your amp man!
You're definitely one of the best guitarists on youtube. Nice work.
I've only been playing guitar for a couple of months so obviously I wouldn't be able to do play something as complicated as this, but i'll be sure to come and visit you again in a few years!

Damn Englishman with that soothing voice...

Excellent video! Thanks for making/posting and keep up the good work! :-)
Very good, has inspired me to try this great song myself. Many thanks.
thanks so much. saved me a ton of time. Just wanted to note that the outro goes back to E - B - A, and the very last part is played just one note going down; C - B - A# - A. he plays that 2X. thanks again.
thank you very much for the help on this one great lesson, love the amp!
Thank you a very clear explanation - now I can play it! Superb.
Thanks so much for the video. I've been wanting to learn this song for some time now and could never really get it. You've been a huge help. I love the amp!! I have a "Dime" practice amp that I've been thinking about putting into something metal that can be painted and pinstriped like an old hot rod. Thanks again!!
Cool lesson and cool amp!
Jam ON!

A thousand thank yous from a middle-aged Faces fan who's always loved that song and wanted to play it. I live in a part of America which really loves it's Country & Western, but you'd be surprised to see the raucous shouts of "Hell Yeah!" when my band-mates and I rip into some old Rod Stewart & Faces. Now I have one more to throw down for them to dance to. ;-P
Great lesson. Thanks for posting, and the tone was pretty damned smokey :)
Thank you very much for the hint regarding the slow downer... luuuuv it..
Thanks mate. Open E!! Who knew!! I thought I was going to go my grave without ever having played this one correctly. Now I can die in peace. Cheers!
Thanks man
Wow, I kept trying this and not getting the sound without realizing the need to re-tune. I'm going to try this, you sound is terrific in the video THanks!
Thanks very much - good luck with the amp!
Love the Amp man... going to give your set ago tonight... Thanks
You nailed it, as the man said. Brilliant.
Just love UA-cam for this stuff.
Of course what makes youtube hard work are all the negative comments. I guess people need an outlet....
My 2 cents: it's much easier to criticise than to create.
You rock! Very well done indeed.
Great vid! Thanks for your efforts.
More, please!!!!!!!!!!
Great lesson on the technique of brilliant Ron Wood
Actually I get the Chord progression, the tuning I never realized, you can teach and and you can play , you can teach people that want to rock and roll not twinkle....little star. Mr. Woods Faces guitar playing is and was a great moment in time. ......... gotta add in the Intro one, two, three,( that was a good album too). THANKS
You UK gents are so gentile until you get an amplifier then you bring it. Love the lesson. Play loud my friend!
Robert Lane i bet he has snorted speed off of some groupies breast in the past? dont be fooled lol.
brilliant.......nice to see someone else cover some Ronnie Wood stuff......very well done, spot on playing indeed.......and that amp is a piece of work! I love it!!!
Great lesson!
Oh, your amp is quite nice; real nice tone and distortion, well done.
cheers man, very good instruction
well presented & played .... and actually I like that tone...
Fantastic primer, thanks.. :)
thanks for posting this! ill never play guitar as i think you have to have a certain "thing" in you to be able to play.... i dont have it! i love listening to it and really enjoyed your post. thanks!
Stratnut- you are a wonderful teacher. This is a benchmark classic song and enjoying much success now. You Brit's are too clever on this Rock and Roll stuff- Chuck Berry didn't do it so we forgot to try. I'd like to occassionally see the right hand or move it up the fret to see how both hands are moving. Of course we want to know if you have the hair like Rod and Ron also- All the best- cheers Bob
I cant even play the guitar ! I dont even know hes talking about ! But man , I just love watching it all come together !
This was well done. Do more! Thanks
top stuff mate. Spot on. Get some more vids on here!
@wentberg Hi - I would suggest tune to open E flat, i.e. all strings tuned down one step compared to open E tuning. Then use a capo on the first fret
awesome lesson!
Thanks for the great lesson!
Awesome song and lesson. You never hear or see anyone doing this one. Thanks again. Any chance of doing an I'm Losing You video lesson in the future?
great lesson cheers!
Great lesson! Keep the Ron Wood instruction videos coming please!
I just bought an EKO Ghost Reissue 50th Anniversary guitar. I've always wanted to play this song and your video really explains in detail how to play this tune. How can I see your first video? Thank you for taking the time to produce this video!
Great! I request Ron Wood/Rod Stewart's Angel which is also in open E.
great great great!!!! cheers!
Thanks, man...had no idea this was an alternate tuning...frustrated trying to play it in standard...
You are spot on - it is an old paint thinner can!
Great instructions.
Lovely!!!
Spot on Fella
cheers
hit damn good lesson! Rock n rollll!!!!
very cool, thanks!
great lesson thanks
Great lesson. I get the "slow down" feature using Windows Media player. Have you song queued up and right click at the bottom of the bar. That will bring up selections that you can make. You want to scroll to "Play" and look for "Play Speed". Cool amp!
Great tips, mate...LOVE the amp...you need to make a tutorial on how to make one!!! :)
Awesome lesson, you English guys know how to rock. Cool amp.
Thank you kindly
Great lesson and your English accent is spot on. (Lol)
