You make me wish I could walk again. Going over old videos. Love history. Have a anthropology degree with a love of art history. Was going to continue with historical PhD when my physical and family issues became overwhelming. Thanks
You made me so nervous! But exhilarated at the same time. I’m glad you found a treasure after that long walk. I bet the church was beautiful in its hey day.
Me too! It makes me curious when was the last time it was actually used. I was able to check out what was higher on the hill as well. (But I used a car to do it) I look forward to sharing it soon.
Ciao Dave! I haven’t commented in a long while ( I usually don’t feel the need ) but today I watched and read a comment on your other vídeo about Arpino and was sad to see a somewhat aggressive perspective, so I wanted to say “hi”, thanks for the nice vídeo, I loved the church in the hill. Let’s all stay in the light.
Thanks for your message. Nice to hear from you. Can I ask when you mention being aggressive, did you mean my response? Thanks for clarifying. It's nice to have a reminder to stay positive
No not from you. It is one that starts questioning your “character “...anyway, I don’t want to repeat the negative, I wanted to help you shine your light. I’m not sure what the person was feeling when they wrote also, who knows but I’ll be sending them some good vibes too because sometimes people that are hurting shows aggressiveness🤷🏼♀️ Love to all
Thank you for sharing your exploration of Arpino. As an Italian, when I see monuments, churches, castles, abandoned villas I get angry. We have a gigantic historical heritage, but our administrators do not know how to enhance and manage it. Sin!
I understand. I approach it as the Abandoned places seem more mysterious. Of course i wish it hadn't reached that point, but i appreciate more the properties that have survived more because of it. Wish we could restore them all
Ciao, mille grazie per tua passione di case. I am American too. Please mention what regions your in when you introduce us to a new town/village/city. Grazie mille!
Arpino is in the Provinca di Frosinone Lazio. It's the birth place of my Grandfather Marco Rea who settled in the UK. It's a beautiful town and my family originate from the very top of Arpino! ❤🇮🇹
Arpino dates back to the 3rd century BC it was a town of the Volsci and Samnites. Famous Roman sons of Arpino. The Roman general Gaius Marius, Marcus Vipsanio Agrippa, Marcus Tullius Cicero. The town was conquered by the Romans in 305 B.C it stands at 1,476ft above sea level. Just a snippet of its amazing history! 🇮🇹 ❤

@@DauvO Of romans relics there are few because all that you can se is aftermath. Also the walls of the city are medieval, because the walls of Rome were its many legions. In Benevento, but not in Naples, Sardinia and in Sicily. The kingdom city was put in Pavia (Lomellina). The longobard kingdom was next destroyed by Carlo Magno. But probably the begining of the italian nation is with the longobard kingdom and the symbol is rapresented by the "Corona Ferrea" iron crown that is in Duomo di Monza. When Napoleon I came in Italy he take the crown and put it on his had and said: "Dio me l'ha data, guai a chi me la tocca". This crown rappresents the unity of the nation and is the oldest crown existing in Europe.
Awesome video! Just wondering if you know somebody who can help me buy a small flat at auction in Pavia? I'm a 1st year medicine student (from the UK) so my course will last for 6 years and figured it would be cheaper in the long term to buy rather than pay €560 montly to student accomodation. However, language is a big barrier. Thank you!!
I wonder if it is still standing today! The only hope for a church like this is a community project or crowdfunding project.. Wouldn't you like to be the one to restore it?!?
I wish I could renovate that church! So amazing.

Haha! It really is a beautiful area. I understand it has more attention on it now due to a new TV show on HGTV. Glad I was able to visit.

There are some beautiful properties in this quaint town that I found online back in November and what about the view... it's just breathtaking.
I only saw a few properties while I was there and definitely only saw a section of town. I'm sure there are some good finds in the area.
Ahh Dave you're so lucky to be out and about! The US is still such a cluster... :-/
haha. I know what you mean...sad truth.. This was filmed in the end of October. We've all been home for a while now but I hope it changes soon.

Charming, but physically challenging for us wrinklies.
Good One Dauvo!
Be careful :)
Thank you, I will! Hope you are well!
That would make the coolest home if you could handle the climb.
Really! I agree, or a Jeep! Something small but 4x4 and you'd only have a little trouble making it to the top.
