The video doesn't mention it, but she passed away in 2017, from what I was able to find. I hope that both of his parents know the world knows they raised an excellent storyteller, and respected man.

If you think about it, and look back at all the metal gear games, there is a distinct detailing even with limited Hardware. In the original Metal Gear, the dogs they used are clearly military-style dogs like German Shepherds. In Metal Gear Solid, even when you're running up the stairs shooting everyone, your gun is still fixed at an eye level and not just blindly shooting from the hip like some exaggerated Rambo Style. For perfectionist like Kojima, the only time the series gets too silly or unbelievable, he was probably just giving himself a break.

i feel like, Kojima does needs a partner that's a bit more grounded. Konami had to pull Kojima from Lost Warld and hand him a "Military" game, for him to create the metal gear series. And not with free rein as an indie developer, he's made a game where you're a courier on foot in an apocalyptic wasteland. He's a brilliant creative, but i think his pure uncensored vision is niche and intentionally obtuse. Can't wait to see what he does next. I'd like to see him take on an existing IP, PT/Silent hills looked to be a classic.

      Choo choo
Hell no. The reason his name is plastered all over the game covers is because he birthed and directed the entire concept.
It’s like saying Christhoper Nolan and Steven Spielberg, who also have their names on the movie covers, claim to take all the credit for everything their staff have done.
He isn’t taking credit. It’s because of his ideas and success, Konami thought having Hideo’s name, who at the time was a superstar in the gaming industry, will help sell more copies. That’s why he was sometimes credited in games he did very little development for, other than mentoring the project.

@@choo_choo_ You are acting like game developers consist only of programmers , do you know that devs have people dedicated to writing and nothing else? Did you think Tom Clancy was coding enemy AI for the adaptations of his novels ? Oh right I forgot that Tony Hawk did all of the texture work in pro skater.

Just to clarify for some why Kojima couldn't receive the award for MGS5:
    Short answer: Legal reasons. Period.
LONG ANSWER: In Japan once an individual detaches from an entertainment company they will be "banned" from interactions that directly involves the same company, this is most common in the Live Action (Tokusatsu) Genre, such example being in Kamen Rider and most noticeable through the Zi-O series that ended Heisei Era of Kamen Riders, but still some key actors could not appear because they either had their schedule full OR had defected from the talent company they belonged to, and because of that they weren't allowed anywhere near the stages where something related to Kamen Rider was going on.

Dang I'm gonna appreciate and enjoy each moment of Death Stranding even more now!
Love the game tho I didn't got it yet! And of course I absolutely admire the man who made such a unique game possible even after so many difficulties!!
Still managed to get through and make his own team build up his own name make it real and known to everyone!
Only such passion and mad attention to detail could make Death Stranding possible!

I'll always appreciate Kojimbo for the Metal Gear Series and Snatcher/Policenauts. ZOE2 was pretty good too.
