I believe the reason it's not as quiet as some other crossbows is the lack of string stops on the front. I have the old Carbon Express CX2 which is heavy but has served me well. My CX2 never had string stops, but for some reason it came with tapped hole's to mount some, so I ordered some SA sports stoppers and they mounted perfectly. Stoppers sure help out in shot vibration and actually knocked down the sound noticeably.

I am in the market for a crossbow and because of this specific video I have chosen this one! I was stuck with the choice of Ravin (which is very nice) however there are safety issues that kept me on the fence. One of them is the crank being able to free spool causing damage is a big one for me as I do a lot of elk hunting by horseback in very remote areas.
Amazon had a deal for $1197 and I jumped on it. They’ve already raised the price!!
Looking forward to the second video and perhaps a Target recommendation

I can't agree with everything that you guys are saying about the bolts,, I believe with any crossbow,, when you find the bolt that works with you,, whether it's heavy or not,, it's as accurate as the shooter sets it up to be,, I have a killer Instincts Boss 405 crossbow shooting 550 grains light and 683 grain heavy and I am dead on at my distances that I'm shooting at,, And keep in mind that I am shooting with the bolts that came with the crossbow,, I will never take a shot at an animal 100 yds however,, Does it hit targets at a 100 yd accurately yes,, Will I put it against pretty much any other crossable out there yes,, I am a shooter and I am a hunter and I set my crossbow to work with me,, I don't think there's a need to spend that much money on a crossbow to do the same thing that I am doing with my $300 crossbow,, Will I take a crossbow company with a superior customer service yes all day long over a crossbow company that blacks the service,, and my warranty lasts a lot longer than 2 years,, So why would I pay that much extra to do the exact for that crossbow to do same thing I'm already doing with my crossbow,, Don't get me wrong I am not bashing that crossbow,, This is just my opinion about the crossbow I shoot in comparison to that crossbow,,, If you take the time to set up,, tune,, practice and know your weapon of choice it will exceed and perform flawlessly in all aspects that you thought for possible,,

Really good video man but really reason why these companies are all going to these specialty arrows is because they want to make all the money if you can buy other arrows for your crossbow they're losing out so they're making these like Raven you have to have the Snap-on knock you got the new hyper ghost 425 and 405 by Barnett that they've got a specialty arrow for that that snaps onto the string as well it's all about the money they want all the money

You guys don’t know what Excalibur offers in respect to warranty. They build their bows with lifetime warranty for any manufactures defects. Yes. They only make recurve crossbow’s and they are bigger but otherwise, it doesn’t bother me. I have the Bulldog 440 with a silent crank and although it’s wider the bow cocks in silent and you can change the strings on the fly. You can’t with a compound bow so if something happens to your bow during a hunt, say goodbye, your hunt is over. If you have an Excalibur you can change the strings in the stand or blind and continue your hunt and you won’t lose accuracy. The Bulldog 440 shoots a 450FPS crossbow, chronoed. I paid $1399 for my Excalibur and it’s the last bow that I ever need to buy. It comes with a lifetime warranty and I had some issues with the limbs and Excalibur has sent me 2 sets of limbs and I didn’t have to pay anything and I could install them myself with the stringing kit. For a $1000+ bow you should get a lifetime warranty. Like I said, if you break a limb or strings on your crossbow your hunt is over. If you did on a hunt with an Excalibur you can change everything with the correct tools and stringing kit.

I had an excalibur Axiom and absolutely hated it. The trigger was ridiculously long to pull and it would never zero no matter what I did. I went through two different scopes and a new set of limbs on it and it would still not zero. I finally sold it and bought a Tenpoint Turbo GT and have not looked back. I'm not bashing excalibur, just stating my experience. I won't touch one of their crossbows ever again. Good luck to you this season.

@@jimfargo9501 I just purchased the new TenPoint Havoc RS 440. I opted for the Pro EVO-X scope instead of the Garmin Xero, or the new Ballista Oracle. Why? The biggest reason is because this crossbow absolutely doesn't need them! Don't get me wrong both the Garmin Xero, and the new Ballista range finding Oracle are just badass technology imo, but they are "VERY" heavy! And here's another little FYI for anyone who does decide to purchase one of these crossbows from TenPoint with the new range finding scopes. Garmin only gives the buyer a one year warranty on their new Garmin rangefinding Xero scope, however Ballista warranties their new rangefinding Oracle scope for a lifetime! Ballistas warranty is also transferable to anyone, under any circumstance! 50 years down the road if you sell, or give the crossbow to somebody, Ballistas complete full lifetime warranty for the Oracle goes with it! If you call Ballista and tell them that you ran the scope over purposely with your truck just to see how well it would hold up, but it broke the lens, they will replace it free of charge with "ZERO" questions asked, and they'll tell you that first hand. That in itself is pretty darn amazing if you ask me! I have a nerve disorder, and I can barely use my left hand. The new RS 440 Havoc crossbow with the AcuSlide technology allows me to easily cock it. It is unmatched in ease of use, as well as accuracy. TenPoint has also released the newest beast, the new Havoc RS 505! The new 505 is actually lighter than the RS 440. To all the other manufacturers out there all I can say is...GAME OVER! As far as present fps goes and feel. The new 505 is everything they say it is, and a whole lot more! I have held a lot of crossbows in my hands and the new Havoc 505 is just amazing. I honestly cannot say enough about this crossbow guys. I'm not employed by TenPoint, and I get no brownie points for any of this. I will be getting this bow next, and I will yet again gladly save up and spend the $3,600 for it, that's without the Garmin, or Ballista Oracle. Either one of those options and it's going to cost you right around $4,600! I only live 5 minutes away from TenPoints headquarters, and I shoot at it's sister retailer Hunters Complete Outlet, which is directly beside it. These crossbows are absolutely amazing! People say "I will never spend that kind of money on a crossbow!" And I fully understand that some people simply just don't have that kind of money. I'm not dogging anyone's financial status. Most people can't afford to go out and spend $3,500-$5000 on a crossbow. And there are plenty of other crossbows that absolutely can, and do get the job done of filling tags every single year. But for me and my disability it just makes sense. I can't pull a traditional bow back, nor a compound, and definitely not a crossbow. Speaking for the disabled hunters out there like myself who've had to give up the love of bow hunting because of a life altering injury, the AcuSlide and cranking technology has brought back the absolute love I have for our sport. The two stage S1 trigger with the zero creep design is also unparalleled in the industry. I will never buy another crossbow! I have previously shot Excalibur's, the PSE Fang, Barnett's, etc...
Believe me when I tell you that the proof is deep in the pudding here. Do yourself a favor and go out and shoot one of these crossbows, even if it's only for only the experience!!

short answer, stick with the 100 grain tips.
Long answer: 150 grain tips would increase penetration due to weight increase. But it would reduce trajectory. In other words your arrows being heavier would drop quicker. Considering that with our 100 grain tips the bolts still blew through the target, I don’t think I’d be worried about increasing penetration. I’d rather have a flatter trajectory.
