I really hope we get a tidal wave. I think he should be Titan class but to combine with this megs he would need to be commander.

Hoping the success of Armada Prime, Starscream, and this big guy are a sign of more Armada figures to come. I'd love an updated Demolishor and Cyclonus

I am so thankful that I kept and took care of ALL the Mini-cons and OG Armada figures! Seeing these remakes makes me happy and excited to see if Hasbro will give us updates of ALL the main Armada figures. I’d love a new Armada Sideswipe!

I love how this Armada megatron is more in scale with optimus and just in general more scaled down it feels more accurate to the Show

I actually feel like he’s a little too short. If we get Energon and Cybertron Megatron and Optimus Prime in the future, Optimus’s Super Mode will likely be taller than Megatron for Energon and Cybertron, which is incorrect.
Hasbro’s dedication to giving us amazing Unicron Trilogy figures is outstanding, I love the look of this Megatron and the Optimus which is the obvious companion piece to Megs himself along with Armada Starscream! Sort of wished that he either came with Leader-1 or a much larger Starsaber though. I’m more than glad to get this guy in my collection soon, yes!
They're cheaping out more and more on quality, upping the price and you keep saying they're thinking about you. They can't even make something new.
For the inflated pricetag:
- significantly smaller than the original
- significantly smaller than his Generations remake
- hollow bits
- no electronics
- no minicon
- no minicon powerlink gimmicks (of which he had TONS and non intruded on the figure
- overengineered transformation (flip open chest for just a cover panel, really?)
- painted elements only hint at all the extra playability the original toy had, almost as if mocking you
- less design variety (OG had clear plastics for it's electronics, very sturdy and ratchety build, loads of paint and it all holds up to this day)
But at the very least you get:
- poseability?
- a detachable gun that plops onto the arms
Also, these toys are clearly aimed at adult fans, considering it's a show of two bloody decades old. So let us have out adult jokes. Not letting the turret rotate all the way around is a seriously prudish design choice. If they had only added that notch to the shoulders to keep them in place... Best part is: if they hadn't done that to the turret it would not have stood out and only a handful of kids would make the joke and move on, now EVERY buyer will be confronted with this curiosity, and wondering why it was done.
And all we wanted was the original... But then with bendable legs.

Hasbro, I appreciate you veering away from G1, I really do. But for that price tag at the very least put some effort in. The entire show was centered around minicons, you gave us squat. Fire your marketing team.

Man. I agree wholeheartedly, they dropped the ball on this one. I had the original as my very first Transformer as a kid. I was both excited and quickly disappointed with this $50 purchase. Smh.

Yo I was just thinking what if they released a combiner pack with all the minicons shown in the series? That would be epic and they could release them as a big set and each section of like style minicons would be in a group together in the packaging and you could even get a manual on which minicon goes to which bot!
It's a shame about the shoulders, but it's a problem I can certainly look past for my favourite Megatron incarnation. Hasbro really went crazy with these Armada figures, Megatron and Optimus are easily the highlights.
I swear they're hinting at Tidal Wave and Jetfire or Overload with some of the features from Megs and OP, though. Great review, like always PVP!
The original armada megatron had some bulky/heavy arms with tidal wave attached.... Big question, is will the weak shoulders on the new Megs be able to hold with the tidal wave attachments.
I feel like one of the biggest giveaways for Jetfire is something so seemingly-innocuous; the removable Autobot symbol on Prime's back. Sure, that could have been done just to easily have that piece be gold rather than painting it, but then why make it removable? Because it becomes the Supermode chest, and Jetfire has a part of him that attaches to Supermode Optimus' chest. Legitimately it makes perfect sense to me, and I honestly look forward to seeing what they'll change about Jetfire to make what was already a decent pair of pants that was a straight upgrade to the original trailer legs all the better.
Tidal Wave was announced!
I actually got him back in September 23, 2023 at Walmart during my Hot Wheels Legends Tour with my Aunt and Uncle over there in Gilbert across Phoenix, Arizona.
Also i also used this Armada Megatron to honor the late Kiyoyuki Yanada who was the japanese voice for Armada Megatron who sadly passed away back in November 14, 2022 few days after Kevin Conroy died on Nov 10 and before Jason David Frank died on Nov 19.
Your toy photography skills are insane man. I played back the intro like 10 times 😅 So hyped for this guy. Hoping to get more of the original Armada cast of characters!
I think the design of this Megatron is spot on it looks fantastic, very screen accurate. I like that it pays homage to the original armada toy, including some of the features the old figure had. I only have a few criticisms with it. 1. It sucks that he doesn’t include any accessories at all considering he’s an expensive figure 2. I don’t like the fact the shoulder tank treads don’t move with the whole shoulder as it limits articulation and I don’t think they couldn’t have done it as the original one could 3. The Shoulders not being able to lock in place is really irritating too as posing is a bit harder 4. To be nitpicky I miss the moulded plastic faction symbols on the shoulders like the old toy had. I’d give him a 8.5/10 xx
I hope we get a Galvatron recolor for this guy and a recolor for hotshot!
8:02 I think that's a reference to how Megatron in the show rotated and grew his antlers to attack others.
and also how Optimus in his final battle with Megatron, broke them and used them as swords.
11:33 is that another reference to Optimus and Galvatron's final battle, where Galvatron, after prime threw a hubcap into the turret, tried to fire it and it exploded on him? if so, well done Hasbro!
I love your reviews and I very recently bought this Megatron to add to my growing Transformer collection. When I am unsure on buying an expensive Transformer. I refer to your review because you leave nothing out and I know exactly what I'm getting into. Thanks buddy
Armada Megatron's helmet reminds me a lot of a beetle, but it was great to see a version of Megatron that wasn't a handgun, aside from Beast Wars or Robots In Disguise.

As biggest fan of anime, i will say, Legacy Evolution Armada Megatron look so cool, so fantastic! However i completely miss the spring load mechanizim on each Transformers toy during that time. For me the spring load mechanizim on each Transformers figure is very helpful, it's does made each Transformers figure a truly toy than figure without any fun gimmick 😌. Great video, PrimevsPrime 🤗.

I appreciate them still making blast effect-compatible weapons... but those are so few and far between in the line, I just wish they'd start putting one with most figures the same way every Marvel Legends Iron Man comes with his own.
He looks just like my OG figure. Can’t wait to get my hands on em’ to compare the side by side. Same thing with the Armada Prime. It’ll be nice to see the subtle changes.😊

I've never seen Armada, I was an 80s kid, but I love this Megatron design. Just ran across this guy in a store and thought the pics on the box looked cool, but needed to watch a review before deciding if I wanted to buy.

Was interested in picking this one up but after your review I might pass. Hasbro could have included some accessories like Leader-1, A combat knife, like the one that came with the original Armada Megatron, or maybe even the starsabre minicons. Given the price of leader class transformers and this is all that we're getting. I'm seriously thinking of not getting this one.

I know people will say they are not happy with the shoulders, but I for one happy we get leg articulation on a Armada Megatron
I just picked mine up today i really like. i always wanted the OG version but never got it. I can look past the shoulders as some of the ones i own have kinda the same thing i am just glad there finally giving us the armada ones so hyped for more.
the characters i wanna see the most of them all is Tidal wave as a titan and those 3 Minicon combiners that appeared in the show cause that would be sick!!

Got the original armada megatron a couple weeks before the announcement for like $15, barring accessories and all. Crazy how the tank modes are almost IDENTICAL LOOKING! Cant wait to pick this guy up

DNA-Design will probably release an upgrade kit that includes a Minicon "Leader-1".
They could easily retool their recent (Titan Class upgrade kit) minion "Drill Bit" figure.

The clip you played of the shoulder at the start had me worried. But now that I'm on the part where you're talking about them, it really doesn't seem that bad. It's dumb of course, but I thought it was gonna be a floppy mess. Really it doesn't seem to take any effort to just hold it in place for the split second it takes to bring the arm back down. Which is a good thing. Had me scared haha.
fun fact: there is an upgrade package for the british challenger 2 main battle tank named after megatron, the challenger 2 megatron. now i want all megatron vehicle modes to be challenger 2 tanks

I was afraid of the shoulders being not great. I'm thrilled we have these armada figures but I wish they had put more into those shoulders, since it's a key part of his silhouette
I would literally do almost anything for a updated tidal wave, cuz the original armada figure was freaking sick, it was just so cool and interesting I loved it
looks like the best you'll get till a new release is to track down the aul seige stormcloud and visper set and use them as a stand in starsabre.
kinda surprised they didnt tool the antlers to combine to be held as a knife seeing as they come off anyway.
that said though its an amazing fig. megs and armada prime just look so chunky ! real old school vibe off them.

This dude was my favorite Armada figure back in the day and I had all of them hahaha. I can’t WAIT to get him. I do think they need to include mini cons with these armada figures tho. Now do Tidal Wave!😊
Given that he doesn't come with any accessories (which isn't a bad thing) it would have been nice for them to give his flip out hands some covers to hide the gaps.
Its an awesome figure hopefully we get a repaint of the mold as Armada Galvatron in the future

I wish they had taken some artistic liberty with the tank mode. It was always goofy having the head showing like that. Panels that flipped up from each arm to join a solid front and hide the head would have helped the design a lot.

The waist extension gives us an opportunity for a title Wave because that's how tidal wave combined with Megatron
pretty amazing figure. shoulders don't bug me at all, i'm not exactly playing with him lol just posing him on my shelf
If they do end up bringing a Tidal Wave into the mix, do they have to keep the combined mode accurate to the original Armada toys? Or at least go all in on the evo-fusion gimmick and have an actually viable combined mode alongside one more accurate to the original.
I’m thinking two Tidal Wave parts extending the legs and then one splits to extend the arms, as opposed to Megs just awkwardly wearing Tidal Wave’s bulky pieces.
Having a commander class weaponiser sounds incredibly cool, I really hope they don’t waste all the potential there.

I bought this figure at target and when I opened him up, his purple shoulder pieces we're both on the left side.
in some screencaps where megatron is sitting on his throne one can see his left hand is different from his right hand, so is not just an homage to the original toy
With all of the peg ports in the appropriate places, there's no way there aren't plans for minicons, and combiner compatibility. I think we just have to hope the line sells well enough for those plans to happen.

If you want Minicons then get some Transformers Micromasters from "Transformers: Siege" & "Transformers: Earthrise" you can attach them on the weapon ports on Armada Megatron.

I think the loose outward joints at the legs are more of a your-copy thing, since mine are completely fine, at least on one side, and the ratchets on his knees on my copy are INCREDIBLY clicky and loud

A great figure. I may not be a Armada fan but Megs and Op Prime look incredible. Also, I'm all for these Unicron Series figures...especially if we get a Tidal Wave. ;)

I hope we get a Legacy Leader Class Armada Jetfire, wouldn't be opposed to deluxe Blurr, Smokescreen, Sideways, Voyager Red Alert and Demolisher or Scavenger.

I'm just going to say it -- if they'd've just re-engineered the original with a couple extra articulation points, it would've been a much better figure than this one. Certainly would've had a lot more features.
Since hasbro owns the licence to go-bots, it would be nice to see a new go-bots reimagining with modern transformations. Plenty of companies do dual brand strategies. Look at the gap. They own the gap, forthe and towne, old navy and banana republic. They sell similar products at different price point for diferent demographics. No reason why hasbro/takara couldn't do a duel brand with transformers and go-bots
Hasbro only owns the names of the Go-Bots, but the toys (and thus the character designs) are owned by Bandai.
@twistedgaming9185 actually hasbro has owned the intellectual property since they bought Tonka in 1991. Tonka was the company who produced the go-bot toys on North America.
Great figure. The only drawback this has is the absence of panels in the forearms to fill in those gaps, and, as it happened with G2 Legacy Prime and Blitzwing, I'm not particularly fond of the way the shoulder pieces are designed. I think they should rotate freely with the rest of the arm instead of having those flaps.
Other than that, the figure looks superb. I truly hope they continue with the Armada Legacy and we can receive Sideways, Wheeljack, Thrust and, obviously, a Titan Class Tidal Wave.
I already got Armada Hot Shot and Starscream...now I just have to wait for my own Optimus and Megs to get here
Still gonna pick him up despite the shoulder issues, not great but it'll do. I just love the Armada design, why last year I started re collecting Armada figures and am almost done. Missing Tidal Wave, Starscream, Overload, Scavenger, Jetfire, and Super Base Optimus Prime (also Sky Warp mainly for his Mini-Con).
With all those additional ports, I’m sure they will release more compatible accessories and or figures
I love the original Armada Megatron figure but this one's like the Voyager Class Megatron when I got this one I will be comparing to the the Transformers Energon Megatron in smaller scale same with the Transformers Energon original the big one Megatron as well as the original Armada when in new condition I know I have the original one it was just so fun.
I think it's REALLY funny that the genuine reason that you can't rotate Megatron's canon is possibly just to avoid crotch jokes
