Yep. Going through boot camp we had to recite quotes like "Retreat, hell, we just got here!" The other one is the one you referenced an officer was told he was surrounded in Korea, I believe and he responded "That simplifies the problem, now we can shoot in any direction."
In these type videos, there is always responses from the " my dad can beat your dad" people. Anybody that has fought in combat is worthy of the same respect. SEALS, SF, Delta Force, whatever spec units from other countries, they are all tough. I saw a lot of ordinary grunts in Vietnam that, in my opimion, were as badass as any elite force. To answer your question I would advise against you serving as historically a person matching the NT description of JC was executed for sedition in Jerusalem in that time period. Your fellow troops would frown on someone with your lack of historical knowledge serving with them, life could get rough for you.

the sayings "the only easy day was yesterday" and "Pain is weakness leaving the body" are two that my dad has told me repeatedly since i was a child. The other thing he has drilled in to me is the saying "Rangers lead the way" he has shown me so many moments in ife where it seems practical. My dad was an Air born Ranger before i was born but some of the ideals he has passed on to me an my brothers

When I went through Army Special Ops training (80's), we heard these before also. Who actually knows where they came from? Or cares when going through it. I always told my troops (medics) "Passion is the enemy of precision." I didn't make it up, but appreciate what it meant.

There are a good number of these "sayings" that may have been adopted by SEALs but many of those should have been attributed to the individuals who actually said them (most of whom were not SEALs).

I always felt sorry for them, jumping into the cold Alaska winter night so they could play army all night long in the snow, while I went home an hour later to sleep in my nice warm bed. Not to mention, my flight pay was more than their jump pay.

There are a good number of these "sayings" that may have been adopted by SEALs but many of those should have been attributed to the individuals who actually said them (most of whom were not SEALs).
The best Navy Seal quote I ever heard was, "Don't mess with the Marines they will kick your ass in an instant!"

@@jorgedelreal9905 I wouldn't know anything about that. I was a C-130 loadmaster, so I just saw the jumpers as they went by me, jumping out of my perfectly good C-130. I always felt sorry for them, jumping into the cold Alaska winter night so they could play army all night long in the snow, while I went home an hour later to sleep in my nice warm bed. Not to mention, my flight pay was more than their jump pay.
When doubt tries to creep in, we take him out.
