Been wanting to re watch this forever, Couldn't even find there Retrospectives on the GT Site. Thanks for uploading there Retrospectives COMPLETE for us all to enjoy forever xD
I only bought Metroid Prime for the wireless controller, but years later I played the game to 100% completion and I really enjoyed it. I might play the sequels at some point.😊
There's an audio problem about 30 min in when it talks about Metroid Prime 2. It cuts off and repeats something it said a minute earlier. o_O; is this a bug or did nobody else notice this?
33:00 - Space marines scene cuts off and it discusses multiplayer until 33:18, then talks about the release date, same clip as 32:25. 37:30 - You can hear a sudden cut about 3 seconds after this that talks about the Space Marines heard at 33:00 TWICE before getting cut off on 37:40 also suddenly. I found this in other copies on youtube so I think it's a problem from the first copy people got and is nothing to do with yours.
Was it actually such a big surprise that samus was female? I lived through this time and more then a 'hey, thats fun' never crossed my, or anyone I knew, mind. Even magazines didn't really pay any attention to it, as far as I remember. They were WAY too focused on the fact that it was such an amazing game (yeah, including the first one)
@Jinxed Swashbuckler I think you are absolutely right when you say "Samus was just another cool badass, like Ripley." It was clever for them to conceal it, but it was not a surprise to anybody who was familiar with the Alien movies, to think that a woman could be a bad-ass fighter.
Nah, it was one of the first games I bought. I think it was more of a hindsight marketing thing and then glamorized by media later. It wasn’t a big deal to us back then.
That is the music that plays in the intro that plays in the original Metroid before you press start. It is the metal version call Metroid Metal. Look it up.
Hey, you've probably stopped looking for this song, but I'm leaving this comment here both for you and for anyone else who comes looking for the song: It's the last minute or so of "The Ice Beam Cometh", by Castle Goat (listed as Goat in the credits). I've spent years searching for it myself, it's really good!
labelfree904 Well, the video itself is a year old, but the original Gametrailers video is years old at this point. Gametrailers has been gone for a while now.
Kritken Well when this retrospective came out on GT... it was for the release of Metroid Prime 3 in 2007. Thus Other M, and Federation Force did not exist yet
Metroid Prime 2 got boring after a while. I definitely preferred the unlimited arm cannon beams in the first The weapons and enemies were better in the first game too.
@@gamephreak5 bullshit. Better go look back to the original. I was there in 86, were you? Dont tell me somethings false when I know better. You a special kind of stupid too to think zebes is pronounced zeebz....lmao. google is your friend next time
I miss when game trailers was the shit
All the musical renditions they picked were metal as hell
The artist t is called Metroid Metal.

Oh fucking awesome! With GT shutting it's doors thank you so much for posting this!

Ah yes, Metroid too. I love watching this.
with Gametrailers gone, its nice to know no body has the right to cease and desist this stuff ^_^
Ummm yes they do. IGN bought all of GT's content when gt shut down. They own it all.
A trick : watch series at Flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Alessandro Daniel Definitely, I have been using flixzone for since november myself :)

This is a very underrated channel. Awesome work on these videos.

It does it again at 37:00 or so when it shows footage of the multiplayer and hears sound from 7 minute ago introducing the story of Prime 2.
Just checked those two sections and it's not doing that for me, playing like normal. Did you try refreshing the browser window?

Can confirm. I was wondering if it had happened for anyone else.
it did it for me as well at 33 minutes when your saying metroid prime 2 came out 2 years after prime 1
"Nintendo Imagineers"...yeah, I guess Nintendo pretty much is the Disney of videogames, huh?
I wonder who did the voice for these,
I grew up listening to his voice for so many freaking hours
Check out the channel Easy Allies, he does reviews there
Brandon Jones, co-founder of GameTrailers. He did a lot of the voice overs for game reviews.
0:05 to 0:15 Where is this short theme from? Anyone know?
Check out the site "Metroid Metal", you will find it under name "Intro".

It was absolutely a huge deal for me and my friends

Dam how have I missed this channel??? I’ve been watching these all day, good stuff my dude any chance you did one on breath of fire series????
What's the name of the song that begins at 1:05:47?

@@Joey245 My man, thanks for ending my search for this song ever since this video released on Game Trailers.
Holy crap. It's a year old and the quality is 2006esque
labelfree904 Well, the video itself is a year old, but the original Gametrailers video is years old at this point. Gametrailers has been gone for a while now.
labelfree904 i bet the quality of your face is 144p and 8bits when waking up
Looks like they avoided the ''other M'' for this video, oh well
Kritken Well when this retrospective came out on GT... it was for the release of Metroid Prime 3 in 2007. Thus Other M, and Federation Force did not exist yet
Other M isn't canon.
What is the name of the song at the beginning?
+Kay Bron Thank you :)
After watching this i had to do an image search for Jeff Spangenberg, didn't find anything.
Why is the quality so bad? Was this made before "The Other M" came out?
Yes
5:00 samus the stripper
LV 427? Hehe does nobody see they basically stole the alien movie script? I do love metriod but sooooo close to aliens
It certainly takes major inspiration from Alien. But hey, that doesn't diminish it, since it has enough interesting changes from the Alien themes.
It's never been a secret that they drew inspiration from Alien. "Ridley" is an obvious example lol
Yeah they took inspiration but Metroid isn't extremely similar
Metroid Prime 2 got boring after a while. I definitely preferred the unlimited arm cannon beams in the first The weapons and enemies were better in the first game too.
hate when people say zeebz....its zeb-es, not zeebZ
yo you got dem zeebZ ive been wantin brah, 100 for 10 zeebZ
FALSE. It's pronounced "zeebz" and has never been pronounced as "zeb-es". NEVER.
