Tim Holtz and Jennifer McGuire...what an impeccable combo! I would pay good money to see those two crafting and designing together! I adore both of them!
I love that even Tim was mesmerized by Jennifer McGuire. Shut up! So funny
Jennifer McGuire is a genius!!! Love her videos. Ever bored with a product? Watch her for inspiration. Love Tim Holtz!! Wonderful products.
I watch this and think.....”nobody’s wearing a mask!!” Ugh so sad to think videos like this will be nonexistent for some time to come. Thank God Tim posts from his “home office” TYFS ❤️🦋💜
We did this same technique 20 years ago with a solid sponge type tool. Jennifer is awesome as many of us forgot this technique.
I still have those inks and sponges. I don't think they were alcohol though. Hmmmmm.
ua-cam.com/video/A7aQ9nS-0AM/v-deo.html. It was a Ranger product that was presented by Dee Gruenig back in the 80’s. Someone made an earlier comment. Yikes! So it was way more than 20 years ago.
I know right, she blows my mind. Her mechanical and creative mind are amazing!
OMG. This is one of the best technique videos Tim has done. All of his videos are great, but this is something I will run right out and get the tools for.
Hahaha... Shut the front door!!! 😂😂 great creativity Jennifer!!! Loved watching Tim as a kid in a magical world of fun! 😁 ❤️
That was so sweet that Tim stopped to Ami Tan’s mom a hug. Then I see she gives him a bag of treats! LOL❤️
Every time I see my protractor in my craft stash I think someday I might need that! & my Husband calls me a hoarder 😆 BOOM I got a use for it! Is it hoarding 🤷🏼♀️ or being smart!?
Forward thinking.:)
Shannon J I hear ya! My dad is ALWAYS telling my sister and I to declutter.....haw there ya go! Saved a dollar not having to buy it! Haha it’s the principle! 😁
peaches5712 lol it always happens that when I throw/donate something I think is useless to me, I find myself needing it shortly after. ESP w craft supplies! It must be a woman thing, my husbands always on me to declutter too!
My family says the same thing! They want to call in an organizer. I said fine but they are not to TOUCH my craft stuff! They don't understand.
Shannon J,
My Dear Husband also ask that about my Quilting supplies e.g., fabrics, rulers, notions books & magazines plus my craft supplies. Like I tell him “I never know when I might need it”. Lol 😂!
Beautiful colors! Ive seen this done years ago but with make up sponges.
So very cool! Jennifer & Tim, our Dream Team! Pure awesomeness!
Tim Holtz you are still killin it!
I'm really enjoying your videos from creativation! Thank you so much
Frickin’ brilliant. I love rainbows
An embossed surface could make it even cooler, maybe. Let the ink flow around raised dots or whatever.
Loved the Carol Duvall show! And Dee!! She would get so excited!! Great show.
Susan Davenport I was wondering is Carol Duval still around?
AquilaMonroe Clark I really don’t know. I guess we could google it. I just loved her!
Yes! Her bio says she is 70-hey, that’s still young! 70 is the new 50!!
Cool technique! Thanks for sharing!
I have seen her video too! So cool he acknowledged that it blew his mind
Awesome. Bet there be sell outs on protractors now. Lol way to go Jennifer McGuire. Blessings Shirlene
Fantastic demo by the one and only. Love that guy. Tfs
Wow, I've never seen a video from this dude at only 10 mins!! 😲
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing.
The person that came up with this rainbow ink technique in the 1990's was Dee Grunig on the Carol Duvall Show.
Christie Trout that's exactly what I was thinking while watching this video - Dee Gruenig. We did this years ago but used sponges instead of this protractor. I think Ranger even made those sponges and inks. The videos are on UA-cam. My friend and I were looking at them last week.
Christie Trout I loved the Carol Duvall show and I remember Dee very well 😊
Dee Grunig used dye based inks, I still have the “kit” of inks she sold with a compressed foam applicator.
And she was just as blown away with excitement about it as Tim is...some things never change! 😍
I was thinking the same. I have the kit still.
I love 💕 this amazing Technique & I especially love 💗 the fact that Tim gave a shout out to Jennifer Mcguire! I believe she was one of the first people who shared this wonderful technique on UA-cam.
I follow Jennifer & Tim faithfully on most Social Media Apps. I have learned so much from both of them and you as well. Please keep up your wonderful UA-cam Tutorials, tips, tricks and creativation product previews coming on your marvelous Channel. Each one that I have watched has taught me so much. I am just now beginning my first Art Journal & my journey into Mixed Media. I still have so much to learn even though I have been Paper Crafting off & on for years.
I truly appreciate all that you do for us. Thank you 😊.
Just loved this! So cool!
Love everything about this!! Such great ideas as always. And my mom at the end 😆😆
Dear tim holtz. You are the very best artist and no matter what you create, it is always beautiful. I like it sooo! xoxo
That’s what happens when you give alcohol inks to an engineer! Way to go Jennifer!
You are amazing..Thank you for what you bring to us. You Rock My Art World 🌎..
Great to see your videos! I sure enjoy them!
Great ideas Tim,will share to Alcohol Ink Techniques
This is so cool!!! I need to see if I can find a protractor anywhere around my house!!
Always love your tutorials ..you have a way with giveing details.. May we get to see lots of more cool stuff ..😜 you inspire me and obviously Jennifer M ❤️
Oooh! Ahhh! Really cool, Tim! Well done, you. And by the way, protractors come from the art supply store - back in the "olden" days, we used them in Graphic Design class. :-) Pre -computer days.
Wow, this is so pretty!
Just like the old rainbow sponge. Nice
Saw this Jennifer is brilliant! She also did a laminated project looks like it is snowing! I loved also
Congrats Jennifer McGuire!! How awesome!
Wonderful video and demonstration coverage. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
Awesome!
Love the shout-out to Jennifer she is amazing
Very cool, I am going to use this technique in my work with older kids.😊❤🌞
Dee Gruenig! Rainbow inks from Posh on her wonderful high density sponges. She was such a pioneer. Nice to see this same idea applied to alcohol inks.
Cool idea.
WoW, that’s great!
I have got to try this!
Protractors for every one! It is a game changer!
I been doing this for years lol learnt in school in the late 80's lol back then we used our wooden rulers.
Watching Jennifer McGuire's for this technique enabled me to buy the Alcohol Pearl Inks and to created Awesome Backgrounds. I love all of the alcohol inks, distress inks and distress oxide inks. I use them quite a bit more than any other inks in my craft room
😮💝rainbow tool tip 😎👍🏽👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Amy's Mom is soooo sweet!
amazing
Cool!
Super cool
Hi Tim! Fun stuff. I spy Sharen AK Harris in there too!
i've put felt on one of those white board wipers, it's like a wood mounted stamp idea with felt instead ;-) looks great, but with the protactor it's easier to see where you're going
Brilliant x
Watching this in the midst of coronavirus central seeing that woman cough at 6:39 gives me shivers.
A protractor! Genius.
I got a kit in the 90s by Dee Gruning.sorry ifits spelt wrong. It came with this compressed sponge. I actually still have it. I've used the inks every now and then. I do not have any more sponges. Glad felt will work too.
Jennifer McGuire is also an engineer, so she has a mind that comes up with these awesome ideas.
Wow!
Forward thinking, indeed 😀. I, too, have a protractor that I’d considered useless. Hurray for us; we’re savers, not hoarders.
Just subscribed beautiful technique yes Jennifer is awesome she is my stamping up representative😋
I see a new tool in the future!
Protractors are used in maths, to measure angles. Doesn't anyone learn geometry in school anymore?
Some do not take any type of math that you physucally need to figure out an angle. That component now happens in architectural math or planning.
@@mrslisalytle8386 how odd! Well, to me, anyway! Times change, as do teaching methods. I'm not great at maths but did enjoy that side of it, it felt more like a drawing class, so a bit of a skive.
Heeeyyy Mario is back there!
❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤❤
lol @ "rainbow tool" - There will be a Tim Holtz Rainbow tool on the shelves soon. Cool idea
That would be MATH, Tim.
Looks so cool! But I have to ask. Does anyone else think Dee Gruenig?
I remember she was on the carol Duvall show.
Any alcohol Ink would work?
I always wonder if Tim customises his own clothing and jewelry????
He has/had a Jewelry Line. It's called Assemblage.
Wow❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
What was the name of the first blue applied? Great tip!
I think he said Glacier. The lighter blue is Lagoon.
I was looking for a link to that glittery paper Tim used . . . .
I think it is this paper:
• Ranger Ink - Tim Holtz - Alcohol Ink Cardstock - Silver Sparkle - 10 Pack
--- ldli.co/e/qxgpzx [ Scrapbook.com ]
• Tim Holtz SILVER SPARKLE ALCOHOL INK CARDSTOCK Ranger tac65500
--- ldli.co/e/jyd544 [ SimonSaysStamp ]
Can you stamp on those hexagon shapes with archival ink ?
Definitely.
Even on top of the alcohol inks on the hexagon shapes?
@@louisescherbain312 Archival Ink will stamp on top of Alcohol Inks.
Would this work on cured polymer clay?!!!!
I don't work with clay - but if the clay is porous, then it would need to be sealed first.
😀
Will this effect work on polymer clay?
I don't use Polymer Clay - but being a porous material, I'm not sure how well alcohol inks work with it. Just try it on a small piece.
I wonder if they use protractors in the making of the rainbows in Lucky charms cereal??? 😂
I'd love to see alcohol ink on glass.
Tim forgot to add the blending solution to the protractor.
A protractor is a math tooL
Watching this in August 2020 and somewhat horrified at the wanton waste of paper towel rolls.
Wow, a woman just coughed into her hand an then touched ur bald friend 🤧😳
Nice design btw 👍
He reminds me of Ryan Reynolds
Shut up and take all of my money!!! I wonder how many hours Tim plays with his toys each day?
It's too bad Tim didnt give credit to Stacey (SMS) when he copied her "slip-proof" mat and didnt give her ANY credit for the idea. I banned all TH products when I realized this. (Then the Misti incident happened, and I was convinced I made the right decision.)
Hi. What was the Misti thing about? I hope you don't mind me asking. Thanks.
@@floradiamonds he "copied" their design and created his own stamp press. He was sued for copyright infringement and lost; which is why his stamp press can no longer be sold in the US once the stock runs out.
@@cookiepadilla7883 thank you. I had no idea! I wouldn't have bought mine (I'm English) if I had known it was on the back of someone else's design. I have to admit, although I do like the Distress inks, although I think they're grossly overpriced, I don't like him. I've seen various UA-cam videos where he's demonstrating, and he gives me the creeps! I'm sorry if that upsets his fans, but can't help what the hairs on the back of my neck do...!
Thanks again.
Cookie Padilla Actually he didn’t lose. He won the suit, but decided to be the bigger person and pull the product. The courts found he did not infringe the patent. He product was far superior, more cost effective, and more importantly he didn’t raise the price when he “thought” he won unlike the creator of the Misti.
@@TheOddWhimsy thank you too, for replying to my question, I appreciate both points of view - and the courteous way in which you each replied, even from opposite sides of the debate. If only our politicians, on either side of the pond, were so polite!
I bought my Holtz platform because it was on special offer, £23 for the bigger size; I don't know what that is is $US, but the Misti was more than £70 at that time. In hindsight, the smaller platform would have been enough, but there you go. My only real gripe, I think, is the amount of product placement in the video demos - Misti is mentioned so often that it distracts me from whatever else is going on, although the Tim version isn't pointed out as much. It's the same with the inks and markers, too. I have Promarkers, couldn't ever afford Copics, and the quantity of mentions has me doubting the quality of my own stuff, which is a shame, as colouring is one of the few things that relaxes me any more! I suppose it's to do with sponsorship. Is it? I just think that one mention at the start of the demo, a "recipe", if you will, is enough. But again, like all of my waffle on the subject, these are my opinions. I never mind if people disagree, especially when they're as polite as you both have been. Thanks again.
Awesome!
Cool!
