      Just be sure you cover everything, alcohol ink stains, and it your grandkids are anything like mine, it will end up everywhere. They will love it though, and perfect project they can turn into Christmas gifts. :-)

    Looks like fun! I've been practicing this technique on foam core board but I just got a whole bunch of tiles FREE, so am going to experiment. I hope this is fairly non-toxic. Thanks!

    I was going to make some trivets using this method. I bought some resin, but I'm kind of afraid to use that. What would you recommend as a sealer that will survive when you place a hot pot on top of it?

    How many tiles will 1 can of the Kamar do, do you think? I am considering doing this with my Guides (like Girl Scouts) [an adult will do the fire bit] and need to price up the sealant to see if it will be within budget.

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  4 роки тому +2

      You can use a heat gun to dry, keeping in mind it will move the alcohol around a bit. This is not a bad thing however, as I have had some gorgeous effects from the movement of the drying alcohol.

    does the fire seal the marker?

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  4 роки тому +1

      No, it just gives it a different look because of the way the alcohol burns off. You will still need to seal it.

    can you use water instead of alcohol?

    • @Salmonde_At_Home

      No, the inks are alcohol based so water will now dilute them like this. They will just wash away.

    Where do you get the 91% alcohol. I am in Australia can only find 64% and it doesn’t work. Asked at chemist hot third degree about why I wanted it.

    When you used the Modge Podge to finish the seal, did you spray it first, then let it dry and used the Modge Podge? Or did you just let the Alcohol dry and went straight in with the Modge Podge?

    • @jackie6473
      @jackie6473 4 роки тому

      Chelsea DePassio she sprayed it with the alcohol, let it dry. And after it was dry she coated it with some mod Podge

    you don't have to lite it on fire just let it dry for 24 hours

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  4 роки тому +1

      No, you don't have to light it on fire, but burning it gives it a different look that you will get if you let it dry. It's just a different technique.

      Yes, it can be done without the fire, but it won't have quite the same look. It sill comes out really cool though.

    Can you use glass

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  5 років тому

      Yes, you can use glass but be sure it is a thicker glass and not a thinner glass, which can break easily with repeated use. I would use glass tiles and not a thinner plate glass for picture frames, etc.

    Will 99% alcohol work?

    • @mdwms6152
      @mdwms6152 2 роки тому

      From what I've researched, it might even be better - others say the alcohol must be at least 91%. One nice thing is, if it doesn't work, you can wipe it down with alcohol and start over again.
