This reminds me of wiring in tilt and trim on boats and how the power and ground reverse polarity when you us the up or down switch. Great video Erik! She is coming along very well!
Hi, Erik. Just food for thought, put the relays in a location that's relatively easy to access. I know that's tough on a 2nd gen F-body, real-estate is at a premium for custom equipment! I did the relay upgrade on my Dad's '66 T-bird and it's 100% worthwhile. Unfortunately, I used cheap Ebay relays that only lasted about 3-6 months. I put them in the doors close to the motors and they burned out one at a time. I used 8 and replaced them all after the 4th stopped working; a couple of them burned holes in their tops. It's definitely a quality issue because I've had them fail in other electronics projects. It's a bear to access them behind the door panels. In the end, I used OEM relays from 2 or 3 different manufacturers that I obtained at the junkyard of all places and they're still running fine after a few years.
I just stumbled across your Camaro build for the first time. Boy, this is a labour of love. Hats off to you as I’m a big fan of this era of Camaro. I’ve spent a few years around these and in fact factory ordered a new 1977 Z28 in March/April of 1977. A good friend also ordered one, mine white and his black, both with the brown/gold stripes, not the red/orange. Your car was originally black? The colour you’ve painted it isn’t a factory shade as you probably know but it’s a super colour as my wife an I owned a 2011 Ford Flex Titanium in Rudy Red tint coat & metallic black until 2019. Great vehicle and beautiful colour. You’re planning to use the 1974 Z28 stripes? I do like them (& 74 Z28’s). A couple things on your car. The front turn signal bezels were black on 77 Z28’s and the black grill had a silver (chrome?) outer edge not that it’s important on a custom build. Looks awesome. Will be checking in.
It’s funny you mentioned the headlight buckets, blinkers and grill all separate colors. Mine are the same and I think I’m just needing to bite the bullet and paint my headlight buckets
Makes me miss my 77-1/2 Z28... Are you going to put the original Z28 striping on it? That was one of the most interesting, 1 off things about the car, because they used the 78 hood decal but the hood didnt have the 78 hump in the middle of the hood and the rest of the striping was from 74. The original 15" wheels on 77-1/2's were leftover from the 74 production as well.

Thanks Chris. Hopefully they will be easy to reach under the seat. I can't think of a better place to put them :(
The work will end someday. Really. Lol. Happy Fathers' Day you guys.
Someday, yes :)

Yeah, car was originally black. I am still debating the trim on the grill. I probably will get it though. Thanks a lot!

Yeah, it does stick out like a sore thumb :(
Nice job

If I put any stripes on it, I am going to go with the super loud '74 Z28 stripes :)
@@asicerik atta boy... I look forward to it. Great job!
