Merci pour cette nouvelle vidèo!!
It is an opera in four acts by Giacomo Puccini, composed between 1890 and 1893.
Just got the Blu Ray. Watching it today.

I wish I could see/hear this live! It sounds and looks absolutely amazing. I am happy that directors have the guts to evolve a piece. Courage to the singers who are able to deliver this masterpiece in new settings. I have listened to the br klassik transmission and enjoyed it very much!
😅😅😅
😅
It can not beat Domingo's Manon Lescaut in the sense of stage, I think. But I can not wait to watch it. The problem is when do we get DVD of it????
Problem, us not the stage directors, which they no NOTHING about opera, and their only goal is to create a huge SCANDAL. If the singers begin to say NO, I WON'T DO THAT SHIT, there won't be any more SHIT. I recall za production of Manon Lescaut where the stage director is following a music score only in German (no Italian), the opera was dome in Italian. Last act, Manon tell Des Grieux 'NON PIANGE' (don't cry); she tell him because she heard him sobbing, so the stage director told the tenor: DON'T CRY, GERMAN MAN, DON'T CRY; the singer replied: DES GRIEUX IS FRENCH, THE OPERA WAS WRITTEN IN ITALIAN, BY AN ITALIAN COMPOSER, AND FRENCH AND ITALIAN MEN CRY !.... end of the argument. So the tenor cried in all 31 performances he sang with that theater in the course of three seasons.

@@vjdelorge325 That tenor was lucky! Normally, any singer who dares to defy a stage director is immediately axed! There are countless substitutes waiting backstage.
fabulous!!!!
Wunderbar!
Puccini forog a sírjában az ilyen barom rendezésektől!!!
OMG somebody needs Italian lessons!
I love the singers but what about this horrible staging.
Mamma mia che orrore!!! The opera is daying!!
Terrible singing and staging.
Where is the beauty gone !!!!
Grazie.
In my opinion, stage direction becomes untenable whenever the audience is so busy asking, "What is the director trying to say by that??" that it forgets to listen to the music!
It gets worse. Orrore!

Espantosa puesta en escena, que pena!!
Le solite assurdità registiche dei teatri tedeschi, una cosa vergognosa che disturba anche l'ascolto.
Ezt az idétlen, barom rendezést ha Puccini látná, forogna a sírjában! Pfuj!
That is one hideous staging. Like an explosion in a modern art gallery. Artistic directors like this ruin a masterpiece. I have seen ugly in my time like Turandot in the Space Age, Ariadne auf Naxos on the moon and one Vivaldi opera set in a morgue where the singers cut open realistic dead bodies with medical tools. Most of the front rows ran for the exit in the dark. And these were the major opera houses in Europe! Truly disgusting. Poor singers having to be degraded like this.
Going to the opera would be so much more available to the general public if all the rubbishy costumes and gimmicks were scrapped. I don't mind seeing an old production - it's the singing I go for. This type of staging just detracts from the music.
Pauline Davy I feel where you are coming from but DVid McVicar has proved to me that you can have a more traditional production and add modern elements to make it new. Sorry I mistyped David.
Cancel the smelling salts! The only shock here is that the whole cast didn’t follow Anna Netrebko’s example and walk out on this bonkers production. I ask you? Teletubbies lasciviously waggling their tongues, shimmying up Jonas Kaufmann like so many demented spermatozoa? The singers deserve better than this kind of schoolboy malarkey.
well put !
+operastroppera Yes, looks disgusting! The Met production the other day was much better, and Christine sounded fabulous, much better than here for some reason
