I keep my CB on all the time when I'm rolling and I haven't heard anyone chime in with Smoke before. The CB's are pretty dead on 17 and 19 these days. The log trucks run on 7 and 9 in my area. I'm young at 32 in this trucking thing but it's fun to chat with people. Especially when I raise them in an absolutely beautiful truck and want to talk about it and what they do. I'm lucky to drive a 2020 W9. I definitely get more waves in that truck than the 880's. Hardly anyone these days with a drop nose has a radio on anymore.
My son and I just stopped by their shop a few days ago to pick up a couple of T shirts heading back home to Iowa. The gift shop wasn't open yet, I walked up to the shop door before knocking I could hear them in there talking and laughing away. All three were great guys to talk with.
If you were a vehicle designer 30 years ago and suggested making control arms and axle tubes out of aluminum for vehicles weighing 2 1/2 ton, you would be laughed out of the industry.
The FAD housing must be ductile iron or even cast steel, right? That can't be aluminum. Right? I heard Rory say it too, but perhaps he misspoke. The Raptor knuckle is clearly aluminum and when you don't abuse the truck thinking you are at Baja they probably hold up fine. Most Raptor owners drive their trucks to work and back so unsprung weight is important. The Raptor dude was driving way too fast, lost the rear and over corrected, and then drove off the road at a high rate of speed. I see fabricated knuckles in that guys future. Apparently older Raptors with cast steel knuckles still had problems with breaking. The material is not the problem here.
Correct, the trouble is thus, I'm in the UK so different scenario, but we build the Range Rover over here, 99% will do little more than drive up the pavement to park, but they have no idea who will buy them or how they will be used in their life so they have to build them all so they will go anywhere (would love to see them follow Rory though) half are driven by wimmin who can barely get into them, so most are a pointless waste of resources anyway, 3t of metal to take the kids to school and then they wonder about climate change, weird world.
It amazes me that Rory and his crew take better care of the customer's vehicles after they were wrecked than the customers themselves even before they were... Some people have zero mechanical sympathy...😮
I for one applaud youz for building Matchbox tow truck(s). I almost can't believe anyone would think putting a blower on Ol' Blue was a bad idea, they have to be trolling ya.
This Trail Mater team is awesome at handling these trail repairs and recovery's. The arsenal of different vehicles are capable with most any difficult recovery! Love the humor and poking fun at each other!
Gotta love the sound of old blue just ticking over, pulling the jeep up the rocks. And to the haters, it's all about the Torques with the big block blower motors
Big D is such a game changer for recoveries that you couldn't do before because of the long boom and double winches on the boom. Having the supercharger on Old Blue gives you more usable power to pull heavy vehicles out of places.
Trail Mater is the rig that goes anywhere it has to, Big D is the rig that serves on and off road and Old Blue is in between with all the bling to be in between. Shawn's handle 4 Lug Thug and Rory's is just plain old Trail Mater.
Thank you Mike for pointing out the great landscape pieces (sleeping dragon); Shawn, Mike & Rory your creative and funny personalities make this content so enjoyable as well as the TOTAL SKILL OF THIS TEAM!!!
Hey Rory, Sean and Mike, I don't understand that people can't wrap their heads around "different tools for different jobs". Building a piece of equipment for a specific need has always been the way. You guys are just good at it! Please don't let the idiots get to you, you always approach the job with a great deal of knowledge and integrity. Keep up the good work and thanks for taking us along!!
Building a wrecker with almost limitless power is just good sense. Rory and crew are not afraid of hard work. But there is no reason to need to work hard if you have the right tools.
When they ask "why build such big bad wreckers" Tell em "because I can !!" MERICA !! Great job and video, you guys just keep putting out the good stuff.
Rory setting up Big D to pull the Raptor on the trailer was beyond amazing, he's the best at off-road recovery!! That aluminum stick welding job was amazing!! I'm going to have buy some and try it now!! "that's just cool right there".. blower sticking through the hood!!!
Notice the video description that says the aluminium weld broke while the customer was trying to get it on the trailer. Stick welding alloys is hard rather than amazing. I'm planning on trying it too, but I'm not a qualified welder like Rory is so I'm expecting the trial to go badly.
I'm personally all about functionality, don't typically care too much about flash / style / cool factor, but man, Ol' Blue has it all... Most stylish, functional tow truck around. I love the double-low transfer case setup.
Great quote, "I like to build ridiculous stuff." We all would if we had the tools and shop for it! My Civic would be higher off the ground and then some if I had the ability because why not. lol
Per normal, Rory has the plan & the skills to mend some mangled cr@p back together good enough to get the job done where almost anyone else would say "oh, hell no" and walk away. Impressive as usual. Good job guys!
I think what Rory has essentially done is build himself a new TrailMater with doors, heater and AC. I DON'T BLAME HIM! Being cold in winter and hot in the summer sucks! TrailMater will never be replaced, but a comfy clone is great.
Who cares what some people think about old blue. The other 99% love it. Keep doing you and keep the cool stuff coming. Great job guy's stay safe and thanks for the video.
Nice recoveries!! Got them both without a problem. Love the trail shots and the banter!! "I would never go to fast on a country road"... 🤣🤣🤣 Me NEITHER!! 😁
This viewer Loves ALL your trucks the way you built them. Big-D is perfect. I'd love a 3/4 to pickup, no towing, with the same drive train. I agree with @Jeffbrown146 - T-Shirt idea: "My welder has a supercharger." Good one, Jeff.
Another great video. Mikes filming is awesome. Rory, Mike and Shawn, your humor cracks me up. Then Shawn and Mike at the end, them two are gut splitters. LMAO. Rorys welding job on the aluminum A arm, it do what it was intended to do.
Cool, that is the word to best describe Ol' Blue. I don't think I ever asked why did you build it that way. But, why not? Personally I still think Trail Mater is the coolest truck in the fleet. Ol' Blue is the prettiest and Big D is coming along slowly but surely. And each of them can handle the work they were built to do. Great video, keep on being you.
Ol Blue purrs so nice. Like a tiger. Love it. You guys are so careful with customers vehicles. I know doctors who could learn from you. First do no harm. Mikes camera work is great, as always. He gets such great angles and interesting views. Every tow truck needs to go fast in the quarter mile. 😂 Love it. If it aint fast, I dont wanna drive it.
Getting The Raptor off was much easier 🙂 Such a delicate rock crawl to protect the Jeep in tow 🙂 I love ridiculous stuff that is sooooo cool and functional too 🙂 Thanks for sharing
Trail Mater T-shirt idea. "My welder has a supercharger."
Bravo! 😂
but he has 3 welders
@@georgegouvas27 Yet he chose the "ol blue" supercharged welder for this vid.
Haha, nice. I think a "Super charged welder" sticker would look nice on Ole Blue
Want
Shawn's handle could be "Smoke Signal"
I was thinking Rory's could be "Dad Shoes".
I keep my CB on all the time when I'm rolling and I haven't heard anyone chime in with Smoke before. The CB's are pretty dead on 17 and 19 these days. The log trucks run on 7 and 9 in my area. I love how you guys are always laughing and joking in every video. Very refreshing. Great scenery too.
It's definitely a good working environment. Who wouldn't want to get up and go to work when you're having this much fun. 😂
My son and I just stopped by their shop a few days ago to pick up a couple of T shirts heading back home to Iowa.

@@arrowheadlee they make my day!😄

Absurd honestly.
I thought that was aluminum. Idiots at Ford!
Why anyone buys this new shit is beyond me.
The FAD housing must be ductile iron or even cast steel, right? That can't be aluminum. Right? I heard Rory say it too, but perhaps he misspoke.

Rory,You work your Butt Off.So you should build whatever you want.Disreguard the jealousy of those who question what you build.!! ROCK ON.!!!
This Trail Mater team is awesome at handling these trail repairs and recovery's. The arsenal of different vehicles are capable with most any difficult recovery! Love the humor and poking fun at each other!

Super charged big block welder for the win
I just love watching all that Rory, Shawn and Mike do, and the skills involved!
I love how each truck has its own area of work but they all can stretch into another's area to finish a job if one is down. Keep up the great content.
Love how you guys pick up every piece of trash you find. I live outside Philadelphia and the notion of picking up “All” the trash is inconceivable

Nothing wrong with old blue at all. Cruses hi ways, and crawls with a three ton load. 🤘😆
I couldn't have put it any better! My sentiments exactly 😁
It's not a Trail Fix... it's a TRAILER FIX! Yuk yuk yuk! Your puns are great. Cheers and be well.
I for one like that you build ridiculous stuff. And that you share the way you get others out of their impossible situations.
The builds are creative and they get the work done. How can that be ridiculous? Maybe over the top in the best possible way is a better way to say it.
Right! Best comment sir!
Ol Blue did wheel hop because the Jeep was playing some Hip Hop. 😁🤘
Always makes my day to see a new Trail Mater video!
Shawn's new handle... 4LugThug. Another great video, thanks guys.
Building a wrecker with almost limitless power is just good sense. Rory and crew are not afraid of hard work. But there is no reason to need to work hard if you have the right tools.
I agree 100% to the cool factor for old Blue. Mater is still my favorite
Ol Blue flexin some muscle 💪😎
Hell yes it's cool! The fleet is getting very versatile
Ingenuity always on dispay. Mike always looks badass with a moustache 😎
Hey trail mater team💚❣️ Big D rocks!!!
When they ask "why build such big bad wreckers" Tell em "because I can !!" MERICA !! Great job and video, you guys just keep putting out the good stuff.

Four Lug Thug and Jolly Green Giant. Duh! 😂

One reason the boys are so cool is they very probably have been in all those situations themselves 😊😅❤
Welll! Leaving your audience with a laugh and a smile, especially these days, works for me.....
Ole blu makes everything look effortless. Beautiful truck.
The old blue is performing with class.
20:04 I love the speedometer needle on your car!
GOOD EYE
Great quote, "I like to build ridiculous stuff." We all would if we had the tools and shop for it! My Civic would be higher off the ground and then some if I had the ability because why not. lol
Mike's sound effects are the best!
Almost a perfect representation of what happened in sound
Old Blue is a piece of art in green and white 😊
Per normal, Rory has the plan & the skills to mend some mangled cr@p back together good enough to get the job done where almost anyone else would say "oh, hell no" and walk away. Impressive as usual. Good job guys!

Love Mike's narrating and sound affects.
Yes that hood scoop is cool 😎 it's a proud statement of excess utility = fun
13:39 Feeling the beat like the driver beat that front axle!!!!
Ol' Blue is AWSOME!! Show truck that WORKS!! No trailer queen! Safe Tavels
Go ahead and be ridiculous Rory. We love it.
You guys make it look easy when you know what you're doing and have the right equipment 👍
Who cares what some people think about old blue. The other 99% love it. Keep doing you and keep the cool stuff coming. Great job guy's stay safe and thanks for the video.
CB handles for Shawn: Leave me alone, Rory: Seriously. imagine the conversations...
Nice recoveries!! Got them both without a problem. Love the trail shots and the banter!! "I would never go to fast on a country road"... 🤣🤣🤣 Me NEITHER!! 😁
I must say big D is sounding much better now that it’s had a little love.😊😊😊
Wow! Big D saving a Raptor! Epic! Good job everyone! That Jeep has the Pentastar rattle on startup! What a great replacement for the 4 liter… 😂👍🏼👍🏼
Theoff road and on road recovery experts. That dude was going Raptor speed for sure! Nice job guys.
I just love that supercharger, its makes all the cool sounds!
Blue is looking pretty good out there on the trails, thanks for sharing the adventures

Trail mater crews is blessed with the desert big horn sheep I think that why all his trucks can do all the recovery in all the trails bless you all.

My grandpas handle was happy face I think Sean could represent that well.
I like watching you guys build ridiculous stuff. Keeps it up. 👍👍👍
Squirrelly Dan would be proud of the “To be fair”.
Great recoveries as always. Glad you found a jeep to "push" Ol Blue out of trouble. The truck sounds great.
Ol Blue purrs so nice. Like a tiger. Love it.
You guys are so careful with customers vehicles. I know doctors who could learn from you. First do no harm.

Hey, when it's your stuff, who cares what others think.
You're having fun with stuff you like, I love it!!
Pretty slick way to load the Raptor! You guys rock!
Great shot of ole blue going down the trail from above that was pretty cool
I like your bad ass tow truck screw the critics
Good morning Rory in my opinion I like ol blue definitely one of a kind and something no one else has.
The rigging you guys do is amazing when I see you do it. I’m like whoa that’s the smartest thing, but I never would’ve thought of it.
0:45 "It's just cow water, hippy!!!" spray painted on that tanker. Hahahahahah!!! Brilliant. Thanks for taking us along as always, TM crew.
Who would ever ask Why? Ole Blue truly has turned into an awesome tow truck!!!😊
Holmes and Watson nailing the forensic on both vehicles, and recovering fragments of evidence for Mike's collection.
HEY I LOVE THE OFF ROAD WRECKERS YOU BUILD AND HAVE. I WISH I HAD 1/2 YOUR TALENT!!
The only off-road show I watch. Therapy with my dinner thanks guys
These guys will use what they have to engineer any type of lifting device. 👍👍👍
Shawn's handle should be "Giggles"
Great Video! Love the Supercharged Big Block!! With all those gears the bottom end grunt has to be amazing!!
Badass offroad tow rig right there, well done!
Rory's handle is "Dad Shoes"
Thank you Rory and crew for the adventure and nice recoveries !
You have put together some very good recovery gear. I've been watching your show for a long time you guys do a great job.
Great video glad you hit 250,000
King Thug and King Mater.
Love seeing ole blue in action 🛻
I'm most impressed with yalls electrical expertise, all your lights seem to work perfectly on old vehicles
Congrats on 250K! Very well deserved and should have come long ago!
Beautiful scenery
When I see a Raptor built up like that I think "There is someone with more $ than brains". He broke it on level ground!! Dude should be in a prius.
Chief Thug for Shawn, Irish menace for rory
Chief smoke signal
Congratulations on 250k subscribers, well done and you guys deserve it
o'l blue looking pretty good. I love the windshield visor as well.
That air intake sticking out of the hood gives me a smile every time i see it, looks amazing...
Shawn- smokey, Rory- bandit, Shawn- rubber ducky! It all has the theme.
Mike is Rubber Ducky
Thanks for posting. I want Shawn to give us smoke signal demonstrations. ♨️💭💭💭 Oh, and Big D did a beautiful job loading and unloading the truck.
You guys work so good together..
Getting The Raptor off was much easier 🙂 Such a delicate rock crawl to protect the Jeep in tow 🙂 I love ridiculous stuff that is sooooo cool and functional too 🙂 Thanks for sharing
I think it's great when people are triggered by your projects, keep up the good work.
Two wrecks caused by to much speed. Happens on dirt roads and in the rocks! you guys always make fun videos!
