    The train is a type "N700A" 16 car Japanese Bullet train with 22,904hp (56 x 409hp traction motors) A type of train normally confined to special high speed 4ft 8.5in gauge lines, where it can run at up to 186mph ! Judging by the multi-gauge track seen (3ft 6in and 4ft 8.5in), and the fact that the train is moving into what appears to be a train construction plant, complete with "passengers" on board. I would guess this is some sort of "Railfan" special.
    The slow speed of the train seen in the film, is a result of the fact that these Bullet trains have longer and wider carriages (82ft long by 11ft wide) than "normal" Japanese train carriages which don't normally exceed around 60ft long by 9ft 6in wide. As a result this "special" has to negotiate the sharper twister track very slowly or risk derailing on the sharp curve seen as it enters what I suspect is a Bullet train construction plant. Most "normal" trains in Japan also run on the narrower 3ft 6in gauge seen on some of the tracks.

    That was awfully nice of the security guard to keep the gate open as long as he did. You'll notice that it only started to close once the train was completely inside the facility.

      NIKHIL Singh, it's not a bad idea if Japan can help India to be advance in technology, but what's even much better for India is if we can come up with our own ways to succeed in every aspect of technology advancement. We must have some originality. Don't you think so?

    • @rajasansoya

      @Asian Guy Brother, I think we are on a different page altogether. We are talking about technology not religion. And by the way, no religion is good nor bad. Only people are brain fucked by some people who proclaim to be the chosen ones. I am a HINDU by birth but I respect every religion. I don't know much about Islam, but what I do know is that, Islam itself is a creation of an ordinary human being who succeeded in making many followers than leaders. So brother, don't hate Islam, hate people who are sending the wrong message and spreading terrorism in the world. "🇮🇳 JAI HIND 🇮🇳"

    Very low distance from the ground to the bottom of the train (clearance). In our Russian trains there is always a high ground clearance so that in case of an unforeseen situation a person can lie between the rails and not touch it, and also that the train quickly if there is an unforeseen obstacle between the rails

    Interesting video. Track is both narrow gauge and standard gauge to handle both sorts of trains coming in to the factory / depot. The overhead catenary power for the N700 A is 25k AC Volts / 60hz. Other non-Shinkansen coming in would be either DC or 20k AC Volts. I wonder if they use diesels to pull/push other trains in on these tracks?

      Proberly because the Bullet train does not normally encounter Level Crossings.
      And looks like some kind of unusal sidings or diversion as they closed two big gates that allow access.
      May be health and safety.

    • @anikun
      @anikun 6 років тому +9

      as you said, doesn't normally encounter level crossings, as for the "unusal sidings" I'm thinking its pulling into the rolling stock depot as those are usually ground level and even the shinkansen must slow down for yard speed limit (generally no more than 15mph or 25kph)

    • @remko2
      @remko2 6 років тому +6

      I'm pretty sure it was coming from the factory and was brand new, if you look there is a welcoming committee waiting at the station (probably for it's inaugural trip).
      Most Shinkansen track is elevated and separated from the narrow gauge track standard Japanese trains use, so you'll never see them at level crossings.
      (traveling at close to 300km/h and level crossings ..... bad idea)

    While the Japanese would never think of trying to beat a Shinkansen, the idea of putting 2 sets of arms on both sides of the track would greatly reduce the number of idiots in the US of trying to skirt the barriers.

    • @Ruhrpottpatriot
      @Ruhrpottpatriot 6 років тому +4

      No it wouldn't. In Germany crossings on tracks for 120km/h and above are built that way, and with way heavier arms (like: 15cm thick steel tubes) and meshes preventing people from going under them and still people get stuck on those tracks. It's a mental thing, really.

      Also, Normally the Shinkansen doesn't have any level crossings (usually being on dedicated, raised tracts), but this one was apparently headed to a factory, which called for the need for it to be on normal train lines to get there.

    • @TheDuke-vb9cq
      @TheDuke-vb9cq 6 років тому

      The train seen IS a "Shinkansen" or in English "Bullet train", a type of train designed for 186mph (300km/h) speeds, on special super high speed lines that have NO level crossings. So clearly this is a "Special event" as the train, complete with passengers (railfans) is entering a train construction factory.
      In Japan "Bullet trains" run on standard 4ft 8.5in gauge track, but many "Normal" train lines in Japan use only 3ft 6in gauge tracks. Hence the "Dual gauge" track seen in the film. The slow speed of this train is also a result of the fact it is moving over a "normal" line. Bullet trains have wider and longer carriages than "normal" trains, so negotiating the bends seen in the film require this Bullet train to proceed at no more than 5mph (8km/h) for safety reasons.

    • @PrimaryConsult
      @PrimaryConsult 5 років тому

      While not Shinkansen, the Japanese railroad crossings for commuter & freight trains will detect stuck cars and trigger the emergency brakes on the approaching train if it happens. Only reasons we can't have it here is (1) people would scream bloody murder if our crossing gates were down 1 full minute before train arrival, which is necessary for the system to be successful and (2) it requires a more advanced train speed control system than we have (it will transmit to the train *why* it just changed the maximum speed to 0 instead of just doing it with no explanation).

      I guess the only high speed train in the US is Acela?It is still not fast enough compared to shinkansen. However, I think America has many airlines which are also very convenient.

      Zlatan Ibrahimovic Americans are funny? They discover, conquer and develop north America all because of the Railroad and now look at them! A few more Elon's and a lot less Trump's would be a fine step forward.

      Maybe it's with 1067mm and 1435mm. Japanese shinkansen is intl' standard gauge, but their traditional railway is narrow gauge.
