    Love your style of asking questions. All these videos are gold if you pay attention to the questions he’s asking, the way he’s asking it, and how your answer will usually dictate the next question an examiner will ask. Don’t dig yourself into 💩

      Private carriage is when someone owns an airplane hires you to fly it. Common carriage is when a company “holds itself out” to the public to fly persons/property for hire

    Great video, Jon. Thanks for giving me a good idea of what to expect in my upcoming commercial prep ride and oral. Can you tell me, based on your knowledge of the system and your experience whether or not the young lady would have done well enough in the video to proceed to the rest of the oral? In other words, how many wrong answers can you get away with? I also noticed that she rarely, if ever, referred to her lap top or any other aids but, instead, seemed to rely almost totally on her (excellent) memory.

    The interview process for flying readiness involves evaluating the candidate's mental state, stress management, and decision-making skills. Scenarios testing their ability to handle difficult situations during flights, assessing flight knowledge including regulations and emergency protocols, and discussing past flying experience are key components of the interview. The goal is to ensure the candidate is well-prepared both mentally and technically for the responsibilities of piloting an aircraft.

    Love the videos! Curious, according to 61.23 if you were say a 42 year old pilot (with 1st class medical) exercising the privileges of a commercial pilot (that falls under "any age") isn't the correct answer to the video (~13:00mins) would be 12 calendar months? You stated 6 calendar months, which is only true if the scenario you were giving her was for an ATP pilot, SIC (part 121), flight crew over 60yrs (part 121). Correct me if I'm wrong: if the scenario was a 42 year old ATP pilot this would happen. After 6 calendar months he/she loses their 1st class privileges and therefore have 18cm remaining to exercise 2nd or 3rd class privileges (24-6=18 calendar months). I've never heard of skipping second class before, both parts over age 40 are the same result (24cm). Please correct me if I'm wrong! Keep up the awesome work and thank you again for your time. Fly safe.

Doesn’t that fall under the 119.1(e) exceptions where it mentions “nonstop commercial air tours beginning and ending at the same airport and within a 25 nm radius”? A.k.a. wouldn’t she be legal to do that?

  • @humanfactorswithpaulgarth9596

    7:47 - Maybe you covered this, but now you're on the ground at night. If you haven't done 3 landings at night within last 90 days, you would need to go solo (with parents on the ground) for three times around the field before taking them up again for the return trip.
    Is that correct?

    • @christianjackson
      @christianjackson 4 роки тому +1

      Human Factors with Paul Garth yep, three landings to a full stop. Can be stop and go or full stop taxi back.

    • @goofeybutreal4398
      @goofeybutreal4398 4 роки тому +1

      Do them solo. Do the three landing to a full stop before you can carry passengers at night. (One hour after end of civil twilight and one hour before beginning of Civil twilight is considered night.)

    • @Keys879
      @Keys879 4 роки тому

      I also never realized the importance of this until I hadn't flown at night in over 2 years. Landing is a bit different when you can't see the ground as well. Definitely want that practice.

    Jon, 3:58 As a commercial pilot, shouldn't you be able to fly without cost sharing (passenger pay the full expense) provided the pilot does not charge, in the event there's uncertainty if one may charge?
    Loved this video!

    • @SYOTOS.
      @SYOTOS. 4 роки тому +2

      No it has to do with common carriage/holding out ( I can’t remember the specifics) but the rule of thumb is if you the pilot supply the aircraft to the customer it’s a no go under part 91. If the customer supply’s you with the aircraft it’s good for part 91. You just offering people a ride for money would fall under part 135 operations

    • @scarpaz
      @scarpaz 4 роки тому +5

      Good question, and it's the bane of a lot of commercial pilot oral exams.
      The answer is NO... not if you *also* provide the plane. Basically you are allowed to act as a commercial pilot, but not a commercial operator. For example, if you offer your piloting services to someone else (e.g., if they own the plane but don't have a pilot), you are paid to be a pilot, and that's ok. They are either an operator (and they are certified) or they own the plane in which they get transported, so it's private carriage, and that's allowed. But if you offer to fly someone in YOUR plane, you are acting as a commercial operator, for which you don't have authorization.

    • @nayefhowar6624
      @nayefhowar6624 2 роки тому

      Couldn’t this be considered private carriage? I don’t think the basis for holding out has been made in the parents wanting a flight for $1000 scenario
