Super Simple Infested Allay XP FARM! (1.21 Tutorial)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 чер 2024
- In this video we make a super simple and easy Infested Allay Farm using the new infested potions in Minecraft 1.21! This new potion causes entities taking damage to randomly spawn silverfish, which we then can unalive for experience.
Rates are adjustable based on your needs. Anywhere from 34 levels/potion to 54 levels/potion! It may not be the fastest form of XP farming available, taking 3 minutes to obtain the above levels, but the simplicity of construction and ability to setup anywhere make it a must have farm.

This is actually a really clever use for both the new potions and a use for the silverfish, which was kind of useless
Thank you! This potion really does bring more use to silverfish
Plus the satisfaction of killing thousands of silverfish. I’ve died too many times because they’re too hard to hit.
@@Hamthewateringcan 🤣Fr
silverfish is used in some mob switch farms
Not only that it makes for good traps as well.
the best thing about this farm is that it just doesnt drop anything *but* xp. theres no need to tack on an item filter or extended storage, which I think is the best plus to making this design
Very true! I have a guardian farm in my buddy's server and I end up burning 90% of the drops because I mostly just need the XP
Bedrock troubleshooting:
- Note blocks + Observers will not work on Bedrock, instead use a redstone tower for vertical signaling.
- Sweeping edge is Java exclusive, use a trident killer directly below. I recommend a 3x3 trident killer.
- WARNING! Java and Bedrock have different default tick speeds, what this means to the farm is that the Allay will get damaged by the campfire at a faster rate than on Java. This will result in the Allay's death within ~1:40 minutes, do not have the campfire on for too long or your Allays will die. So, on Bedrock you have to have a mechanism in place that turns the campfire off and on.
- WARNING! Since Bedrock has faster tick speeds this means the Allay's will produce MUCH MORE Silver Fish than on Java, I recommend no more than 5 Allays, 6 was enough to spew some Silver Fish through blocks to attack you. Although if you'd like more Allays then you must have extra open spaces for the Silver Fish to exit which prevents the block phasing. They block phase IF there are too many cramped in one spot, they attempt to push each other but can't... instead they phase through blocks. For example, I only had one open trap door for the 5 Allays.
TIP: For the trident killer I highly suggest you add a small hitbox block in what ever corner you're closest to, such as fence bars or wooden fences, if not the Silver Fish will likely go toward the corner and excessively jump which allows them to dodge the trident killer. The small hitbox block helps reduce lag and increases XP/per second.
EDIT: As of now there's plenty of optimized farm contraptions videos for Bedrock on UA-cam, check them out and good luck!
Damn you P and C ticks
thanks i just need to grab the materials
You can also just use splash poison potions along with the infested splash potions. Poison doesn't kill mobs. Edit: As for the observer tower, you can use leafstone for the trigger.
I think the farm doesn't work in bedrock , i made it and the allays die for the campfires , and with the poison the silver fish dont spawn
@@lanserployit does just do the steps that are listed
If only you could build this in a nether base for that ‘screams of the damned’ ambiance.
Ahhh, if only… XD
You could probably modify the farm to use some other method than water to move the silverfish to the kill chamber. Iron golems and silverfish pathfinding is likely the answer here
@@Sir_James_EnderImagine it but with ghast pushers.
Or slime sweepers

I think you'll find more success doing this kind of video than the create mod videos. You have a natural knack for being clear and concise. And this is a great technical achievement.
20:09 replace the solid blocks on the edge with packed ice so the silver fishes start slipping
That's a pretty smart addition!
Ah minecraft, promoting concentration camps and torture, i mean, family friendly trading halls and xp farms.
but sharks are not allowed
I just built it! it work smoothly i never build ender XP farm it's my first time getting crazy amount of XP fast i was relying on skeleton farm it was slow process Thank you so much this saved a lot of time
No problem! I'm glad it's working well for you!
Finally, a farm that lets me vent all my frustration towards these blue abominations that were inexplicably given player immunity, insane passive regeneration, and a spot in our mob roster in place of copper golems.
What a nice farm! It deserves more views for sure, and I think it's safe to say that it's not too broken as it requires you to get some things that could still be considered tedious to get (blaze rods, amethyst, allays of course, and you need at least a few diamonds and enchantments).
I've been playing on a multiplayer server with a few friends and I've found that skeleton/zombie grinders from a basic spawner are extremely slow when there's more than one player online (but that could also be blamed by server settings that I don't know of) so this would be a good alternative.
Thanks!
It definitely falls into that “Mid-Game” category of farms with the resources needed. You could probably speed run it and have everything in 2-3 hours from a fresh world tho
2012 Etho is grinning so hard right now
the dispensers with water and flint and steel are pretty much useless because you can just put out a campfire with a shovel and re-ignite it yourself
Nice and elegant. I haven't updated to 1.21 yet coz I want a raid farm alternative and this seems to be it. Keep this up and you'll become big. I like the Ianx04 style progression. Subbed!
Thanks!
hey man, love your style of video where u go through your thought process in every stage of the build, adds more depth and meaning to different things and is definingly gonna be fun when i try to replicate or build my own version based on what i understood, nice video, keep em coming.
If you're concerned about the number of observers used, you can always have the observer pointing into a block next to a noteblock, which is cheaper and faster.
Hey, that's a cool design. Thanks for sharing
Very nice tutorial style!
Just built it now with just 8 allays and the xp just flows in so quick. I had no other XP farms and was getting it the hard way, but this has just made it a breeze. Now just need to stock up on gunpowder.
great tutorial intstructions and farm design
For those who would want to build this on an online SMP that has the statues book, there's an option to make the statue invulnerable to player hits. I totally recommend this with any farm that uses armourstands.
Excellent idea!
Great, simple-to-follow tutorial!
extremely good video for its popularity, definitely deserves more views
and very helpful farm
Thank you!
Awesome tutorial thanks! Just built it in my survival server, its awesome, fit in a corner of my base easily! Wondering if it could be adapted into a mob switch too, perhaps? Seems an easy way to generate lots of mobs and kill them again when its not needed...
I am not very familiar with the mechanics involved in mob switches, so maybe? If it works it would definitely be useful!
Silverfish spawner from the stronghold was also used for this, so I suppose it would be possible
awesome video dude ❤
Thank you!
Thanks for this!
I'm gonna make a minigame where players have to fight waves of Silverfish!
Bedrock players with a nether portal piglin farm :
Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power.
I might try this wity bedrock, im not sure of the allay and potion mechanics, but for killing youd just do a trident killer instead of sweeping edge
I've tired over and over and over, allay will last about 4 minutes in it, i changed different passive damaging, but 19 levels in 45 seconds
i attempted a bedrock version, and it is significantly faster, to the point of lagging my world, but unfortunately it seems that the silverfish have been damaging the allays. If you know a way to solve this it would be very helpful! :D
@@FryGuy- im gonna keep trying
great video from a small channel. Keep up the great work.
Thank you!
You could add a separate killing chamber where the silverfish are splashed with the new oozing potion, and dropped on campfires that are on top of hoppers.
I will build your farm and try it myself, but I am not so good with Redstone
Good luck! It should be easy to build, I am also not good with Redstone but if you follow the tutorial step by step it will work. Have fun :)
greatest tutorial ever, everything bad that could happen while building considered. love it
Thanks! I tried to consider whatever would've gotten myself hung up on if I was doing this from a tutorial and I think that helped find some edge case issues :D
wow!
I just discovered all the new potions and this one is super powerful.
It is a bit annoying that you need to get all the potions, but it just needs a little glass, stone, gunpowder, and blaze powder, which isn't that hard to get in bulk one time to store in chests.
This is such a good farm and it doesn't feel too overpowered. I'll definetly be building this on my next world
I see a 21 video tutorial of a XP farm that I'm never gonna use it cause I'm from Bedrock, but it looks very useful.
Nice job!
Thanks!
I didn't even know you could breed allays i thought you were gonna use some glitch
That is clever usage of potions
This potion should be made not from regular stone, but rather something like emerald ore. It makes more logical and balancing sense
The cruelest, most efficient xp farm ive seen in decades...
can't wait for mojang to patch this in 1.21.1 by making so potion-created mobs don't yield xp! (but seriously this farm is fantastic)
Just keep playing on this version until you have everything you need 🙈
I don't think they are gonna nerf this because you have to get xp on killing mobs whatsoever. I mean, what good is a silverfish potion if it can't give us any drops from silverfish except xp?
@@syedfardeenahmed2592I mean, they did make it so trial chambers mobs won't drop their armor, so idk
@@Riglin yeah but the point of the trial chambers are the vaults. what point would there be for the potions if there was no reward?
@@huiba1 smart
That's incredible!
Thank you!
new sub, u are CARZY! lol
Haha, thanks :D
Oberservers could have been saved with a block inbetween, or just using Redstone
This farm works in Bedrock Edition?
Should make a tutorial on a slime farm addition
could you do a short video on a bedrock version?
I don't really play Bedrock anymore myself, and as such would lack the knowledge to make a suitable tutorial on it
This is fantastic! (:
You found an amazing use for allays in Minecraft. Now they don't feel useless anymore (:
Thanks :D
Really well done tutorial!
Why did you switch the bottom left four blocks with temporary blocks and then back to regular blocks at the end?
Thanks!
Just to make it easier to keep everything oriented in the video. In hindsight it wasn't really necessary
Finally an use for Allays
amazing, underated
I'm not sure how easy/difficult it is to get allays but aside from that this looks to be a great simple farm
A random prank idea would be to build a fortress/dungeon out of block types that silverfish can infest then use a smaller version on the farm to fill it with silverfish. Then finally send in a friend to explore it…
i have a version of this farm you can make with less than half the blocks if you want to make an updated version
im guessing the ideal sword could also be bane with sweep unb men unless sweeping dosent work on it. If so then atleast there is more of a use for it ingame
BoA would absolutely work as well, but because sharpness over level 3 is enough to 1 shot the silverfish, it is not needed. Most people would probably just use their normal sword for this farm
Can we use this same setup but for farming slimes?
You don't build this farm because you are lazy, I don't build this farm because i don't want to put cute allays in eternal pain.
We are not the same 🧑⚖
I don't want to build this farm because I'm afraid my base will turn into a hell on earth in case the thing breaks
i didn't want to build this farm because I was lazy, but the idea of having dumbass allays in constant torture next to my base compelled me.
very nice farm, but can you make a tutorial video on how to build this in bedrock edition?
THE ALLAY IS USEFULL. DAMN.
I've been building it for so long, but all the Allays just died in the fire, even though I gave them all blocks in their hands. I'm playing on a private server with a friend
if u dont want to find allays u can find a mob spawn
or build a mob farm
and throw it infestation potion
asnd add camp fire below it
Does this work for Bedrock?
Good tut! But I would recommend doing the piston part before duping the allays. That’s half an hour of my life I’ll never get back 😅
You right, if I had thought about it that would've saved a lot of time XD
Super cool. Just hurts to see the observer line not alternating note/observer/solid blocks 😭
I know, I know... old habits die hard lol
does this work on bedrock edition? of course except for the sweeping edge, i’ll replace it with trident killer
This niceee
Another pro of this farm is there aren’t byproducts that need to get stored; no useless stacks of green dye, ender pearls, or prismarine.
Not to say you would *never* want those things, but in many cases the storage system is half the farm.
for whatever reason my flint and steel doesnt work when clicking on the noteblock, the redstone upon the dispenser gets activated and the potions get thrown but the flint and steel just stay in their and doesnt activae anything
At first glance it seems very interesting, then you realize that it is one of the worst ideas you can have.
uhhh do you have schematics for each farm. There is only one listed in the description and im trying to build the allay version of the slime farm
pro tip, don't build this out of cobble or stone. You will be sad.
finally an actual use for allays lma
One question, i did the farm in my survival world, but the silverfish just get stuck inside the campfire. What sould i do?
Will this work on bedrock? Cause bedrock doesn't have the sweeping edge enchantment
You can replace it with a tridentkiller i think
this works differently on bedrock with the note blocks. on bedrock, the note blocks don't cause observers to activate so you have to replace that with something else you can easily use to trigger the observer
Also i have no idea why but with more than 4 allays, so many silverfish were spawning that some were flying out of the contraption. Seems like the natural tickrate on bedrock might be higher cus the allay was also not outhealing the campfire for me
u dont even need to do all that sweeping edge stuff, u can hit the silverfish through the holes on the side of a chest, most of this farm is excessive
I recommend making the hole centered and using a piston layout to push the silver fish into one single spot this way it's smaller and cheaper.
I did the farm underground, but the silverfish have broken everything, now there is hundreds of silverfish in my house that want to kill me please help
Oh god... Best wishes for your survival!
bro to be honest at first i was like is this guy for real, does silverfish even give some good exp ? but when i tried it i got from lvl 0 to lvl 68 in like 9 min not cus the farm is slow bu cus the exp orbs take too long when they are too much XD .thx man this farm is op
No problem! We really do need a way to absorb the XP faster :D
@@Sir_James_Ender i dont think it will take too long to Mojang to nerf it somehow i feel bad for that its really helpful in the start of the game
It's definitely possible, but I get the feeling that they won't nerf it. This seems too intentional. They might make allays immune to the potion effect, but there are other ways to make it work such as Iron Golems
@@Sir_James_Ender yeah true we always find another way to make it work cuz tbh Minecraft players are the most creative community i've ever seen XD
My allays died within 3 minutes
Hey man awesome farm idea! Just letting you know the UA-cam account Rediscover Redstone is using your farm as his own without giving you credit and has posted it 3 different times in the last 48 hours, I’m so sick of this behaviour from people, thought I’d let you know, keep up the good work my guy👍
Thanks for the heads up! I am already in talks with him about it, so we will see what happens there :D
@@Sir_James_Ender no stress man, the MC community is supposed to be better than that!
comment for algorithm, this is sick!!
Algorithm
Use skulk to sponge the xp
for anyone that's an idiot like me do not build this out of cobblestone, stone bricks or stone as the silverfish can infest it and spill out
I tried using stairs to make a little channel for the XP orbs. Good idea in theory and it worked fine on in the testing world. Fast forward to me being chased my hundreds of silverfish. And also, since I made the farm underground, they destroyed a big portion of the room they were in.
TL;DR for the love of god don't let the silverfish escape!
What you dont talk about is the amount of time you need to take to make all the splash potions to have silver fish to spawn so realistically it takes about the same amount of time as it would to travel (Non survival). How ever if your in a minecraft server with warps then this idea of having an xp farm in your base wouldn’t really matter.
Can you use powdered snow instead of a comp fire
In theory. However, I believe that powdered snow deals damage much slower than a campfire, so your rates would be much lower. You'd also have to make other modifications to the farm to make it work
Oh god that’s a lot fish
ALL the fish XD
IMPORTANT: do not build this farm with stone and stone bricks.
which texture pack do you use?
vanilla tweaks, it has options to show redstone component directions
can you make tutorial for this in bedrock?;
I couldn't do that to the allays
my allays despawned
does this work on java or bedrock?
This is a Java farm. In theory you could build it on bedrock too, but there are 2 things you’d need to change:
1. You’d need to modify the killing chamber to either a trident killer or an open slot to kill the silverfish. I don’t believe sweeping edge exists on bedrock.
2. Campfires are pushable in bedrock, meaning when you install the allays you’d have to be careful not to push it and let them out.
EDIT: See the pinned comment for more detailed info for bedrock
When I build it the silver fish get stuck in the same location as the allays.
I guess such creatures aren't as useless as I first took them... in fact I can utilize this to my liking... I hate those creature... the *allays...*
Why is fire aspect not recommended?
It could destroy the armor stand
How fast is it.
Cool idea but the required brewing is a bit of a downside. Probably still going to use enderman farm unless I want to make a guardian farm
can you drop a world download for this?
I have worked with an infested allay design like this before to test an instant ice highway idea I had (by splashing all the crammed silverfish with a wind charge potion and killing them all at once), and I found out that having the water bottle dispenser UNDER the campfire was the only way to consistently put out the campfire if there were too many allays crammed in there. Idk if you already say this later in the video though since I only watched like 2 minutes so far
