How much did they charge you bro ??
I just bought my si two months ago and came across this channel. Keep up the excellent work! I know what it’s like to run out of ideas or don’t have motivation, and it sucks, but you’ll get back onto the grind. I can’t wait to see more!
Preventative maintenance sucks but helps keep you from getting stranded in my experience. Can’t wait to see what’s next for the SI
Congrats man! Can't wait to see the turbo upgrade, will be keeping an eye out.
glad to see you back !!
Love another video! Thanks Tony!!
Good thing you did this I neglected mine and drove it a long time with a known leak and it ate the cylinder wall up and head between cylinders so I need a new engine now. Mines been down since February
Don't get rid of it bro! Don't get tempted with equity. 10th gens are keepers! Bro, i picked up an STi lol. And i still have my 10th! Still building it too.
Awesome vid. Thanks Tony👍🏽
Your new defuser looks better than the all one 👍
Enjoy! I’m glad it worked out. I am still waiting on my new car.
im getting the headstuds and new gasket in next week. which fluids were supposed to be replaced so i can grab some before i drop it off.
The small details matter 👍🔥🔥
Car looks great
Where did you get this rear diffuser, love the carbon look ?
where can i get that frunt lip and rear diffuser
Where you get all 3 emblems (front, rear, and steering wheel)
welcome back!
This makes me feel a lot better to take on doing my head studs
Every time I watch any of your vids I wanna upgrade from my 2018 Si sedan to a 2019+ coupe lol
Thanks for this video Tony. Approx. how much it did the parts/labor cost for this upgrade?
Is the bigger turbo gonna be the rv6? Or i guess.
How much was the labor?
I saw your car on eman's instagram story like a week ago. I been waiting for this! Jesus 45-50 minutes to get out the entire engine. They must know the platform so well. Lol. Did they resurface the head and everything or just reinstalled new gasket and the arp headstuds? What's the price and the time it took to complete?
I need ARP head studs and head gasket done when I am tuned
Carbon sixth element is the best. i got my full interior by them
Damn how long did it take you take get an appt with eman? That retro type r clutch and flywheel is legit too!
how much was the cost to install them?
Bad ass, big turbo coming soon 😅
Hey Tony I have a question. Is that license plate relocation mod sturdy enough? I saw your video ans have been debating doing the same mod to my 2020 civic si
I haven’t had any issues so far so it’s sturdy
looks like a big turbo might be coming soon?👀
PLEASE REPLY
How much they charged an hour?
MN is already $165/hour. bigger shop almost $200/hr
Some shops in MN 3k+ for headstand upgrade.
What shop was that?
Maybe I missed it, but just wondering if you used a Honda head gasket or went with an aftermarket one.
OEM Honda gasket
Would upgrading the, studs and head gasket , on a cvt 10th gen civic help with the longevity of of the engine ?
@@thetruecobra yes
Appreciate your videos. Lots of good information on them. I would love to find out the location of Eman shop though. Live in Southern California, so it would be nice to have him work on my civic too. Any info would be great. Thanks!
I’ve tried to look up the shop to… no luck!
What ft pounds was put on the new studs?
It’s funny I just got mine done too😊
Damn papi missed u mayne
Is it necessary to put in forged pistons and rods in this engine with full bolt in’s ?
Luck of the draw
Have a good tune and you should be fine.
Is this in Southern California? I might want my studs done there too
Hit up k20allmotor on IG
Ventura County in SoCal
hey tony do you by any chance know the part numbers for the ARP head stud kit?
Unfortunately no
I bought it off a subscriber that didn’t end up using them.
Do you have wheel spacers? If not what size rims did you go with? Your tire fit with the fenders are perfect. My opinion
38mm offset on wheels make it almost perfectly flush without any rubbing on 235/45r18 tires
@donovansimison9336 is that with the factory 8 inch rim or a 9 went to 2 wheel shops and they can't seem to figure out what I want. Trying to bring the tire out flush and install a wider tire at the same time. Kinda like the 911 look without getting too wide adding 1 inch overall half out and half in. If you know what I'm saying.
@@loulehnhoff2637the factory rim is 48 or 45 mm offset, which is why it looks so tucked. 38 is the sweep spot for 10th gen civics except type R but type R is a different setup 😊
@@donovansimison9336 thanks
It was a very smart decision. We know enough about the L15 at this point to know that anything over stock power is a risk. Some heads blow at 240 and some blow at 300 but it's definitely a ticking time bomb in that engine
I think once you go flex fuel with these cars that’s when the clock starts ticking with head gasket failure
My head gasket was toast even without running ethanol.😢. Just 93 fbo.
Why did they pull the engine? The shop that did my gasket and studs did not do it that way. Sounds expensive!
You can do it with the engine in it but it’s too cramped to get the timing belt off and other things lol.
They did it stupid quick tho. Other shops I’ve been to quoted about the same price price because of how “time consuming” it is.
@TdaKid very nice, thanks for the info!
So the head gasket was starting to go bad also?
Yup. It was only a matter of time too
Got lucky
What was the cost? or ballpark?
$1800 for labor or so
I wish I have money to do this. Can you tell me the shops name?
Na Performance in Ventura California
How many miles does your 2020 have?
60k
What Shop does the work for you?
Na performance in SoCal, Ventura county
How is the rev hang with ur type r retrofit?
Didn’t affect me tbh because I have it off. I’ve had it off since I’ve had the car tuned
@@TdaKid i was just asking because im fbo and the tev hang on my car is pretty bad but I have competition clutch stage 2 with ultralight flywheel
@@JamesAnderson-fw5ewturn it off using ktuner or hondata
Hm was the job?
I’m getting mine done at the moment I also wanted to take the safer route before it got worse
What diffuser is it?
Same as I had before
Abs type r style but with the “carbon” look
@@TdaKid where did ya get?
@@GeekCulture101 abs dynamics
That comes from running too much boost and gas blending.
You hear the rumor that even the APR ones come loose too?
Yes they all do, but Apr is definitely a lot stronger than stock
And for the power that I’m going for I’ll be fine lol
The width of the rods are also smaller than your fingers lmao
ayyy lets gooo
How much did you pay for labor tho?
Good question!?!!
Around $1800 for labor
@TdaKid That's exactly what i paid for my arp install. Only thing I've paid a shop to install so far. Unfortunately the shop did a total butcher job on my head studs and they took almost 3 weeks to get my car back to me from start to finish and then damaged cam shaft actuator in the process and didn't say anything until I went to take the car home and the check engine light came on. I brought it right back to the shop And within a day, they called saying that the actuator was on backorder. So I had to wait another 2 weeks to get the car back again. Unfortunately, this is the only Honda performance shop anywhere in my area and it's still 2 hours away. Now I dont trust the car whatsoever. Who knows what else they butchered! You're very lucky to have someone as talented as eman work on your vehicle!
@@shainrichter3338sorry to hear that bro…
@Vqrackss Yeah, me too, bro. Definitely very nerve racking not trusting a major job that was done on your car like that. This is also my only vehicle and I drive. About a 100 miles round trip daily, not to mention all of the customer calibration picks ups daily so I'm always driving the vehicle.
❤
I’m almost 40 and one thing I learned Don’t fix if it’s not broken trust me
Not with these L series motors lol
It was only a matter of time seeing how loose the headstuds were
@@TdaKid yes but they could lest you for another 100k or more
@@bvvbvv6010 if I was stock yes. But pushing 315ft wtq on stock headstuds are bound to lift the head.
Damn wish I could find good and trustworthy mechanics over here in New York.
Well no fucking shit youll have head lift and gasket issues if youre pushing 300lbft of torque through a 1.5liter. Thi car isnt meant to have the shit beat out of it.
K swap sell the L15
😂 real talk
Or buy the new type r
People why so much cause they want to see more. Content is limited if you dont put money into the car. This is why K20/K24 are kings with just a turbo kit. Dont get me wrong love your car! but power wise unless you dont dump money its limited
Even if I had an 8th gen si (k20) I’d still be limited since I wouldn’t wanna fully build a car that’s my actual daily lol
Kept my (K20) 07' Si Sedan stock since I bought new. (My Daily) Even with 276K still love the car. Different feel than my 22' Si, totally different.
@@edwardinvegasmine si was supercharged on 10 pounds motor lasted from 120k to 180k never took the motor apart from then besides supercharger upgrade to centrifugal
Dude what’s the point of trying to do all this to a motor that was designed for only 200 HP, you can do all the mods and still make under 300 and will be a ticking time bomb, i put 10 psi on my 9th gen and it’s making 400 who safely
Apples and oranges
There’s always going to be X motor is better than Y motor. That’s the same thing as X car is better than Y car.
Blown headgasket soon damn what happened to you Honda these turbo hondas are 🗑️
When you’re pushing a lot of tq with a factory gasket from a 1.5L It makes sense.
Only way to fix this trash ass engine is to throw it in the garbage and do a k swap
