@@delete---7593 My nickname is also Mandy number 1 and number 2 I agree with Mandy the character in the film that Obedience is a terrible gift to do what you're told
Yeah but she was also very arrogant and conceited, not bothering to listen to concerns of others when she obviously should’ve, it’s no wonder there was always so much disdain whenever she was mentioned in the film
I understood why they tried to hide Ella from Lucinda as not only does Lucinda give the worst gifts but how is anyone like her expecting a baby to behave when they're just babies and babies don't know anything yet because babies need to be taken care of with unconditional love, not by giving them a curse that causes trouble for them. When she expressed how wonderful that "gift" was when everyone around her clearly knows it's a terrible gift but more like a curse. They even pointed it out to her and asked her to take that curse back. And she says she has no return policy? That's more like scamming people out of their money. And when she gives someone a gift that's more like a curse that causes trouble for the one who has it and when they call her out on how her gift is only causing the recipient trouble. She automatically calls them ungrateful and threatens to punish them by turning someone into something like a squirrel or frog or a bird. Forcing them to accept the gift that clearly is a curse that only causes bad luck. What kind of fairy godmother does that and what kind of fairy godmother is she? And she tells them they should thank her for giving the person a gift that only caused trouble to the one who has it? Also when Ella begged her to take back the gift when she was obviously being controlled against her will because of that bothersome curse that others found out about and took advantage of it. She doesn't take it back, says everyone loves her gifts when her gifts were nothing but curses and she doesn't listen to her all while she tells Ella to find a way to reverse it herself while Lucinda tells Ella or anyone whose got her curse that those curses are their problem and not Lucinda's problem when she tells them not to blame her for their problems when they have a right to blame Lucinda because it all started as soon as she met them. She's no fairy godmother to anyone. If it were up to me and I had the power to do something about it. I'd threaten Lucinda with taking away her powers and making her a mere mortal or have her go back to fairy godmother school if she is to continue to be like this arrogant, mean, unreasonable person she is.
@@nathenewendzel7806 I doubt she's tired of people being unhappy with her attempts to do something nice. To me, she's obviously someone who shouldn't be a fairy godmother at all if she does this kind of evil to people. Maybe if they had her character be faithful to the book where she eventually admits she doesn't know how to undo the "curse gift" but manages to say or do something that could help the recipient get the curse off them for good. There would be some form of redemption for her. But with how they didn't go for that with her character. That just makes the film version of her character so evil. Just as I've said if I had the power to do something about Lucinda. I'd actually do that.
@brocksampson3405 Fairy giving gifts, check. Fairy godmother, nope. Ella just fibs and refers to her as her fairy godmother to get help since she can't mention the curse to those who don't already know about it. Her real fairy godmother is actually the house fairy, but you're right. Lucinda should not be giving out magical "gifts" to people because she has no idea what she's doing and is not prepared to receive correction to learn.
Maybe Lucinda cursed the Bride's daughter too that's why she was included in her Kill List. And Skylar didn't actually went to California, but instead worked as a fairy nanny in Frell. Will would be freaked out knowing that she has a different lover who turned into a book.
Don't you think a lot of you are being a little to hard on Lucinda? it was supposed to make her behaved. I'm surprised that Mandy says she always gives the worst gifts, her gifts have good intentions, they just work too well, like Ella is obedient and does every little thing she's told and in the book at her father and stepmother's wedding she tried to make them in love, but love was the only emotion they could feel at each other.
Wow watching this as an adult now actually makes me sick. Lucinda ruined Ella's life with the "gift" she gave her and had no shame. All because a baby wouldn't stop crying? You expected this woman to go through her whole life being controlled and be literally told what to do by anyone? It could've killed her wtf. Lucinda is the main villain in this story.
Not a villain, just very foolish with her head in the clouds and not that bright and overconfident. Main antagonist is a better fit for her. She never actually intends harm and is actually doing what she thinks is a good thing. Edgar on the other hand is intentional of every bad thing he does and causes and is actually clever and smart and charismatic.
My one critique of this movie is that Lucinda never faced any consequences for her actions, she’s even in the final song dancing with everyone. She turned a child into a slave and never got punished because everyone was afraid of her.
Okay good I didn't remember this movie fully so glad her mom even knew Ella was screwed.. but why did she never try to tell her not to obey everything?
I always wish for the movie Ella Enchanted to premiere on CBS one of these nights. Because Miramax Films is owned by Paramount Pictures because I know a lot of Paramount Pictures and Miramax movies will be on CBS.
It's not just that she does these awful things. It's that she never realizes just how awful it is and is so deluded, trying to reason with her only ever makes things worse.
Ella she told her mother to stop eating cake is not funny to Ella she not listen her mother to stop eating cake or going room now put hands down Ella told your mum

Mandy told Ella no stop eating birthday cake during Ella
I wish Lucinda got punished by other fairies for her crime.
in the novel she did experience what ella experienced with the spell throughout her life
Me too
What crime is it? She was giving a gift.

Ok but I have never stopped to read the newspaper the dad is holding and the personal ads are so funny!

This scene has always reminded me of Maleficent cursing Aurora by predicting death for her.
Lucinda is the true villain, not Edgar!
Kareem Hatem so true
Kareem Hatem Lucinda never killed people Edgar did
Lucinda is just mentally unstable
Edgar is just muerdorous
Lucinda is just unwise and doesn't think critically. Maybe she just wanted Ella to obey her parents, but she didn't think of the consequences.
False dichotomy.

Lucinda was a clown but man was vivica fox iconic in this.
Did it ever occur to Mandy and Ella’s mom that they could’ve just told Ella to ignore the effects of the spell, thus getting rid of it altogether lol?
HOW DID THEY NOT THINK OF THAT!!!
Honestly, I hadn't even thought of that lol. But when I saw this movie I was a kid, so there's one excuse
Maybe they couldn't or just didn't think of that.
just told Ella to stop eating cake but
Ella s mum told off for her things
It's some wizard of oz shit, she had to figure it out for herself, but it was her mother's dying words that gave her the strength
