For Mixing / Mastering. Not for recording / Editing. The Layers are the worst possible workflow. Can't move them around, copy/paste them until you make them a primary layer. When you have two channels selected and the layers are unfolded, you want to solo them, you'll most likely select the 2nd layer of the top channel. When you try to edit fades, it's a mess, can't really move things around with crossfades applied, theres literally no simple way to add a crossfade with a length of the selection. I have a video comparing FL Studio with Studio One! I think you might like it! Here’s the link 👇 Studio One VS FL Studio: Which is the better DAW? ua-cam.com/video/Ld3gxAwZusE/v-deo.html
I've personally tried most DAWS out there, with the exception of Pro Tools and for me 'Reaper' makes life so sweet in regards to customisation, workflow, speed and zero crashing. I feel that a lot of people are driven by aesthetics at the expense of performance. That's my personnal experience, however never limit yourself to one one DAW or one piece of software, they are all tools there to avail of, and never become a narrowminded Fanboy to one brand of company which is unproductive at best, and always remember that we as the consumer are nothing but a drop in ocean to these companies, who would certainly screw us over in the blink of an eye for profit if it ever came to it. Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, or whoever they may be. There's no perfect DAW, and if a DAW works for you stick with it, because that's the perfect DAW for 'you'.
S1 is one of the better ones. I was trained on Pro Tools, owned and used Logic, S1, Acid, FL, etc. Here's my 2 cents: Try REAPER. Just watch a few videos. Download the demo. Go nuts.
I am Studio one user since 2009m coming from Fruity Loops and Cakewalk and Synapse Orion back then. Today S1 is my number one, while still using Synapse Orion though no longer in production as a DAW.
still logic has better features like Live Loops and Modulation and few extra audio effects ...btw I'm a studio one user and i love it but not being able to modulate in S1 is pain!
I would agree here! I don’t really use the live loops very often so it wasn’t a feature I missed. My biggest drawback was the lack of stock sounds! Logics piano and strings were really good!
Seems pretty cool but pretty much everything you mentioned in this Video, Reaper has them all plus you get the crazy customisation, flexibility tht no other daws have but goodluck woth S1, its still a great daw.
@@ProducingInTheBox I have both S1 and Reaper installed on my PC. I mostly use Reaper because I have a very customized setup with custom layouts, themes, custom actions, macros, toolbars and many many custom community made scripts but I do use S1 time to time as well.
I still think being able to get Midi OR Audio to follow your chord track is akin to witchcraft. It's such a useful creative tool. I did try out Cubase last year - but honestly there is no comparison. Things that are difficult in other DAWs (like mapping tempo) and just drag and drop in S1. Why would you use anything else?
i used logic for 10 years and then switched to s1, it's just better (but i do REALLY miss logic's elec pianos and es1, but those are literally the only things)
After I got StudioOne, there were a few bugs that sent me into a purchasing fury. I got LogicX, and within a month, I was back to StudioOne, and the bugs were fixed.
That’s another great daw as well! It didn’t seem to fit my workflow personally but I have nothing bad to say about that software! I even use some of their plugins in studio one!
The big fail with Studio One to Logic concerning midi is the lack of Logic being able to program multiple articulation simultaneously over the notes in a chord within the same track. That is a huge difference. From their manual.. "Be mindful that Sound Variations will be applied to all coincident Notes, and as such you won’t be able to hear multiple articulations simultaneously. For example, you won’t be able to program a chord where the high notes use “Hammer-on” and the low notes use “Open.”
Actually probably not. I never would have been “forced” to make that decision! But after I switched I realized just how powerful this was! Now I still use Studio One on Mac as well! Im glad I was forced to upgrade because I wouldn’t have gotten a chance to learn this DAW! It fits my workflow so much better
Ok nice. Why on earth you would draw a simple triad like that in the piano roll? If you now that after a D major it can go an A, you can digit them on your keyboard. Selecting the note then the scale on those drop menus takes 100 times longer.
@@ProducingInTheBox I left Logic because and went to S1 just because it was the one that resembled it the most and it's functionality but what S1 can do presently and how integrate it with my Rack Mixer takes it to a whole new level.
@@ProducingInTheBox Yea drums everything. I wish they would make the product again because I want to stack my 32r with another 24r but for some reason they're behind on their products.
Logic & midi. Logic audio started as software by Emagic, , Late 1990's, cross platforms, called Notator , a midi editor. Its features were amazing, very powerful and intuitive. Apple has somehow 'de functioned '/ lessened its usability in favor of a general overall 'ease of use'. I guess ??? I dont know why, but it is even worse, midi wise, than earlier versions of apple only logic.
@@ProducingInTheBox thank you I'm from France and I don't find much resources on UA-cam about studio one in french wich is strange because I think it's a great DAW but not enough known in my country. Thank you for your great videos.

I started with ProTools, and I had a very difficult time getting anything done with it. I've had an even worse time with Reason...also the sequencer is hard to look at. I also tried FL Studio, Cubase, and Ableton...all without success. Then, I tried Studio One 2, and I liked the sounds but couldn't grasp that either. Then, I upgraded to S1 5 because of the chord track, the arranger track...for starters, and when I plugged in my microphone, guitar, and audio interface...it was so easy to set up!! I was so elated that S1 took out the guess work in the set up. One ironic thing though is if I had a Mac, I would use Logic...so I was sort of disappointed that it wasn't compatible with PC. However, your review makes me feel a bit better with my set up of S1 5 and a PC. :-)

Hey there, just came across your channel. I am a Logic Pro user, looking at making the switch. One feature in Logic that I absolutely love is the 'Drum Track' as it allows me to get great performances just by altering the matrix. Is there an equivalent method workaround in Studio One to address this?
If you’re talking about the “Virtual drummer” in logic, then no. I never used it tbh because I’m pretty particular about every single hit and I want complete control. Although, working with midi in Studio One was so much better imo! So it was an easy transition!
@@ProducingInTheBox Thanks for that. How do you find the quantization of audio in Studio One? I love Logic's, and it is something I use often for tightening up performances.
In fl studio, in the arrangement area, you know, we can arrange a kick as a wav track with one click, and then we can delete the wav we put with one click again by clicking on it. can you do the same feature in studio one?
And this is one and only one thing that is intuitive in FL Studio xD And I say it as an FL Studio user since 2009 till last year.I love FL, but S1 is way better in my opinion.
How do the free / default virtual instruments on Studio One Professional compare to the ones on Logic Pro. Only thing holding me back from making the switch. Thanks.
Oh this held me up too!! The free synths are actually really great! But it doesn’t have everything. I downloaded LABS by Spitfire Audio for strings and other things (it’s all free by the way and I even made a video about it on my channel) to make up for what I lost in Logic. LABS blows Logics stock stuff out of the water. Even if you stay with Logic, I’d still download LABS. So that’s my answer!
I’m thrilled with Studio One! Cubase and FLStudio are both great DAWs as well! Use whatever fits your workflow the best! Grammys have been won on both of those DAWs!
Haven’t tried but I don’t see the plug-in folder being quicker than the shift + number key command (although it does need turning on in logic). Does the plug-in folder also contain software instruments too?
That’s in a separate place because studio one handles tracks and channels differently! The plug-in folder shows the names which seems to be the advantage for me there! You can do something similar in studio one too. But I can never remember where in my chain the plugins are
@@ProducingInTheBox Ah fair play. I generally don't have issues remembering cos plugins are often in a specific order, and when they aren't, it's for a reason that's easy enough to keep in mind. But, that's clearly personal pref, so no doubt it's handy.
@@ReeWebster I change up what I do a lot because I work with a lot of people and genres. Maybe that’s why I change so much 😂😂😂 either way, I love that feature in Logic. I didn’t know about it for like 4 years 😂😂😂
@@ProducingInTheBox it's a relatively new thing for me too, start of cvd, anything can commit to muscle memory I find way better than the mouse, or the trackpad, which I do enjoy on the mac, but still, touch type is second to none ;)

Logic will get you in trouble if you have clients like mixing/mastering work. When things go missing and constant crashes occur, you're gonna spend all day trying to troubleshoot. Also Apple support totally sucks donkey ba11s. They just refer you to their troubleshoot forums site. It's not good for business. Been a Logic user since 2016 and made the switch to Maschine and Studio One.
What I use also and just upgraded to thr full dize Maschine Mk3. Do you drag audio tracks from Maschine or use a template in S1? I found setting up Maschine in S1 to be very cumbersome and frustrating. Used Logic in college but not since and the built in instruments blow away the competition but with Komplete, IK Total Studio, Labs and other 3rd party doesn't matter too much. Didn't realize Logic had any stability issues.
I’ve been using studio one for years and tonight I reached the point where I’m like Instruments and midi and piano roll is complete trash and I’m willing to slide over to logic, years of studio one the piano roll and quantizing is so just not good, I dipped into FL studio and logic and picked it up in days, studio one to this day just frustrates me trying to do anything with instruments and automation it’s a f*cking mess. I love the rest of the daw. Also it’s been crashing and bugging lately like never before .

Studio One VS FL Studio: Which is the better DAW?
ua-cam.com/video/Ld3gxAwZusE/v-deo.html
Welcome to the family 💯💯💯
It really is the community out here rn 😎 welcome to the producing in the box community!
Studio one seems pretty decent but the built in sounds/instruments need _a lot_ of work.
Download LABS by Spitfire Audio! They have a ton of free sound sets that are incredible
Agreed...it's my only complaint. IK Total studio or Komplete I think are good replacements for what's missing though...or Labs like mentioned. 👍
What all is missing.
@@accentontheoffMaybe just SampleTank 4 though since S1 already has plug ins that are in IK total studio
@@WyattLite-n-inn What’s the connection between Studio One and IK.
Go nuts.
REAPER is sick. I can't really give it any crap haha. I love the workflow of S1 personally, but REAPER is a straight up BEAST
@@ProducingInTheBoxYou can pretty much have any workflows in Reaper, including the S1 workflows
Good stuff! I’ve been using Studio One for 2-years and didn’t know some of these techniques. I’ve subscribed!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel! We have a lot of fun here 😂
there are way more,i use different techniques , I just learned his here, its very easy to use too
The only thing I'd like to see is the plugin folder capability on Logic. The stock sounds are great in Logic.
Idk but for mixing vocals studio ones work flow is unmatched.
@@KeenApollo it’s such a great workflow! Especially with the plug-in folders. Thats such a time saver
🚫Windows🚫
i think thats a person view but S1 is just so simple and precise
I didn't know about the Chord Track drag and drop to new track... WTH! Thanks man! Kudos from Mexico!
Yezzzirr, STUDIO ONE GANG 4L
so after many years of waiting STUDIO ONE still cannot audition 3 notes in a chord without clicking PLAY ? What a shame !
Seems pretty cool but pretty much everything you mentioned in this Video, Reaper has them all plus you get the crazy customisation, flexibility tht no other daws have but goodluck woth S1, its still a great daw.
Reaper is amazing. It’s a great DAW
Studio One is awesome!
I love it! Such a powerful daw
i used logic for 10 years and then switched to s1, it's just better (but i do REALLY miss logic's elec pianos and es1, but those are literally the only things)
Check out LABS by Spitfire Audio. It’s a free sample library. It replaced most of what I had in Logic.
@@ProducingInTheBox yeah, i have tired everything, nothing is quite the same.
After I got StudioOne, there were a few bugs that sent me into a purchasing fury. I got LogicX, and within a month, I was back to StudioOne, and the bugs were fixed.
Reaper can run on anything,PC, Mac and etc with no issues.
Wait. You only changed because you have an old slow Mac. Would you have changed if it wasn't slow?
Actually probably not. I never would have been “forced” to make that decision! But after I switched I realized just how powerful this was! Now I still use Studio One on Mac as well! Im glad I was forced to upgrade because I wouldn’t have gotten a chance to learn this DAW! It fits my workflow so much better
I also use studio one.❤
It's soooooo good!
Ok nice. Why on earth you would draw a simple triad like that in the piano roll? If you now that after a D major it can go an A, you can digit them on your keyboard. Selecting the note then the scale on those drop menus takes 100 times longer.
Ive been using ableton for 10+ years, theres something about S1 that i really like but I cant put a finger on it, using the demo as I type 😃
I hope you like it! Ableton is great too! Check out my channel! I recently just made a video comparing Ableton to Studio One!
It just feels like you've been using it for ages in the moment you first touch it.
Reaper is the best Daw,go deeper with it and you will never regret it,the most customizable Daw.
I’m glad you’re enjoying reaper! I use a lot of their plugins inside of studio one! It’s a great daw, it just didn’t fit my workflow personally.
Welcome to the club bro... Abandoned Logic 2012 and bought studio one 2013 never have I ever felt disappointed
Such a great software! Both DAWs are awesome but studio one really feels like home now
@@ProducingInTheBox I left Logic because and went to S1 just because it was the one that resembled it the most and it's functionality but what S1 can do presently and how integrate it with my Rack Mixer takes it to a whole new level.
@@Metalpazallteway I have the PreSonus Studio Live mixer so that has been such a handy feature as well. Smooth integration for when I’m tracking drums
I just subscribed to your channel after watching another video and I can't stop watching videos from you, so happy I have found this channel. 🔥🔥👍👍

@@ProducingInTheBox thank you I'm from France and I don't find much resources on UA-cam about studio one in french wich is strange because I think it's a great DAW but not enough known in my country.
Thank you for your great videos.
I like cakewalk better sound on sound recording free loops it free not saying the studio one was horrible the loops in sphere didn't fit my music I guess you go back to what you know I've been using cakewalk for 30 years
The most important part of making music is you! So if you’re more comfortable with Cakewalk, then use it! It’s a really solid software and a lot of great music has been made on it!
Would love commentary on Cubase & Bitwig, also
Reason 12 + Studio one pro= Awesome!
Extremely helpful and informative, Thanks so much!
now i am in a good mood
Logic if definitely better hands down..I use both though, 99% Logic though
@@Gang-25j - Logic seems to have a streamlined clean look; and it seems to be very organized, and is also, 'logical.' :D If I ever buy a Mac...I would def. use Logic.

I love studio one. I started with when studio one 4 came out and I got the pro. Now I'm gonna upgrade to studio one 6!
You doing a good job buddy 👽🤝
Thank you very much! Ive been on the fence between cubase and studio one for months. Have both Cubase Elements and Studio One Artist and made stuff using both but was stuck on which to upgrade. 98% of the time i use midi and vsts so i was leaning toward cubase, but thanks to your video i learned a few things i didnt realize and am now leaning toward Studio One. My only grip is no middle mouse panning.
Very nice video!
How do you get the different colors on the different notes in the midi edit part?
Switched from Flstudio to studio one ...
Excellent DAW i must say
I couldn’t agree more
In fl studio, in the arrangement area, you know, we can arrange a kick as a wav track with one click, and then we can delete the wav we put with one click again by clicking on it. can you do the same feature in studio one?
And this is one and only one thing that is intuitive in FL Studio xD And I say it as an FL Studio user since 2009 till last year.I love FL, but S1 is way better in my opinion.
Thanks. It's great to see different workflows
And that’s really all it is! Creativity matters more than anything else. A DAW is just a tool for our creativity!
This instantly makes me wanna switch DAWs.. 😅 well done
😂 The FOMO is real on these types of videos hahaha
i really apreciate your help with dowloanding this software
Sounds more like a sales pitch?
Haha I wish I worked with PreSonus haha.
What size and resolution monitor are you using on the Mac side?
Im switching
the shotr cuts are not working i tried drawing and strming im on s5
Do you know about shortcuts I. The preferences tab you can change the shortcuts from studio ones to Logic Pro shortcuts
Yes! That was my 5th reason why I switched! Such a great feature!
@@ProducingInTheBox Got it thanks.
I am using cubase and fl studio pro versions, are you happy with studio one??
I’m thrilled with Studio One! Cubase and FLStudio are both great DAWs as well! Use whatever fits your workflow the best! Grammys have been won on both of those DAWs!
I wish Presonus had a drummer like in Logic
The Logic drummer is pretty cool haha
@@ReeWebster I couldn’t agree more. I use my keyboard a lot. Sometimes I have I think about what I’m actually doing while I’m recording my videos because it’s all muscle memory ay this point 😂 that’s when we get in our flow state. I do miss that trackpad a lot. I might have to buy a desktop one.
Great video..i wish FL STUDIO give a listen to us.
FL Studio is sick bro. I should really give it another shot for fun haha. Is it true that you get lifetime updates when you buy it?
@@ProducingInTheBox yes I have lifetime updates but most of their best VSTs you have to purchase. Studio one has better quality free plugins tho but I can’t complain.
Really nice and helpful... Thanks!
What were your considerations vs cubase 12?
The chord track tbh. I also had some PreSonus gear already (Studio live mixer) and the integration was amazing.
Can you use the songs you made in Logic in Studio One? How easy is it to convert?
I just rendered out the stems and brought them over to Studio One! It took me a while, but it was worth it. I also have all the original raw files in a folder on a separate hard drive so if I needed the raw files, I have those too!
Studio one selection an markee tool are reversed as compared to logic or any other daw … any way to change that behaviour?
I’m not quite sure what you mean by “reversed” but I’ll look into it and see!
@@ProducingInTheBox like if we hover over top it is markee instead of selecting tool and viceversa

Yes! Studio One Professional does!

does it have good sounding onboard snyths and pianos and drum maschienes ? thank you and sorry for all my question but i am very upset on Cakewalk : i actualy had to deinstall and reinstall it again to make it work so that my love fore the daw, former sonar platinum and cakewalk later on, is allmost entirely gone and i need a new one where i realy can feel home and work with. @@uniquetruth2097 I love replying! Why else would someone start a UA-cam channel of not to create a community?!
So yes, Studio One has some great built in virtual instruments but the built in effects are the best. EQs and compressors are incredible.
Now I also use LABS by spitfire audio. This is a free VST and they’re always updating it. This covers any sounds that aren’t stock in the DAW. I made a video about this called “Best Free VST | LABS
Stability is great. I even made a video about it called “The Best Settings For Studio One”
I hope this helps! Studio One also has a free version called Studio One Prime. Try it out! If you like it, you can either get buy the license or get their Sphere subscription. (I love that you can still do both unlike ProTools haha.)
I love to switch, but im not going to because of the platform.. cross platform for me is linux... until then, im OSx..
Thats why Mixbuss and BM Fairlight excite me...
As for midi Lol....... WTF?
Mouse it baby , but alas , thats your thing..
Yeah man. It definitely frustrated me. Especially when I was getting paid for other peoples music. I couldn’t have the stability issues 😂
Logic, Cubase are Studio One's step brothers
im FL user n i was learn bout this DAW, so interest
what I don't like about Studio One is the colors.
Studio One is the truth!
so handy.
Bro BUMMER. Try out LABS by Spitfire Audio for some free instruments. Also the midi roll takes some time to get used to but I love how it quantizes.
