Yo I’ve been wanting to do this to my bike but I was afraid to mess it up. But after watching your video I finally did it and I’m loving it so far. Thanks bro!
Great video but you put the bolt for the upper linkage in the wrong way. Since you turned it upside down you should have put the bolt through it from the bottom...
I did this years ago accidentally after changing the front sprocket and my buddy put it on backwards. Loved it and I’ve done it to every bike ever since.
Did u buy anything aftermarket? Or was it done using factory stuff? Thanks for sharing . This is the best video on how to do this that I've seen +1subscriber ride safe bro!
Could have been overtorqued by someone working on it before or has a bunch of loctite on it. Try ever so slightly tightening (VERY SLIGHTLY) then loosening back and forth a couple times. May help. Otherwise it may need a little heat or penetrating fluid. My bet it is just on there tight.
Good deal. I did this a while back on a few of mine. Just for a little info, to broaden your audience on it, the rear is the same from 06 to current, so it applies to those years too. But cool man, keep at it.
Dude, I'm watching you ride around at the end of your video and I'm like... I recognize that road!! I used to live off of Cal Oaks and Golden Pheasant!! Great video btw, I'm doing it to my 2012 GSXR 750 tonight.
@@Omega47 that would not allow it to be tightened properly. It would strip. I would pull it off and take a closer look. Every shift linkage I have removed is threaded on one side to allow it to be tightened snug without stripping threads.
Thanks for the great video man, so when I turned that thing 180 degree around. The screw from the top seems like went against the tread and there was a play in it, and when I tried to remove it, I broke the head of the screw. Question is, do you have any play? what did I do wrong? I changed the front and rear sprocket and this is the only causality. I used my moustache scissors for the needle lock :)
The bolt needs to be from the bottom to get the lever to squeeze it onto the splines as intended. This can eventually get loose on the splines over time and could skip, wear on the splines and damage the splines.
I bought a 750 used that already had this done to it just out of curiosity what are the benefits of a gp shifter? Just rider preference or is does it make for faster shifts? …….up shifts are great but I hate downshifting it feel awkward just not natural

@@tooljunkie555 Nah not the snap ring bolt, the bolt that goes in the top bit of the shift linkage. In the video @ 5:18 that bolt is supposed to go back in the same spot it came from before the flip. Originally that bolt was on top, after the flip it should have been underneath.
I hate to be the ass hate troll hater buuuuuuuuuut.... why would u wanna try it if your not tracking ?? which allows for you for to be ON TOP of the shifter at a lean angle without dragging ur foot

Thanks for this short and to the point video, Awesome! I will be switching my over tonight...Thanks again. Ride safe
My pleasure sir! Be safe!
20 minutes to get to work? LOL

Just swapping positions of the factory linkage. Nothing aftermarket.
Okay cool I have a 08 600 so this is good to know thanks!
This was exactly the video I was looking for thanks 🙏
bought a new shift lever system for my k7, so im def doing this
thanks it seems to work very good and its very easy
Currently changing mine back to stock. Didn’t care for GP shift.
Fun fact… those snap rings are a one use item, you’re not suppossed to reuse them.
Thought i’d let you know
Any tips on how to get the bolt out that uses the 17mm deep. Mine doesn’t seem to move

+Joshua Hamby Racing Thanks man!
Joshua Hamby Racing hi...i have a gsxr600k6 and i cant make that as the rod hits de engine case
Just did this to my l9 750, i'll give it a ride tomorrow and see how quickly i can adapt to it though i might embarrass myself badly 🤣
Does anyone know the thread pitch? I stripped mine
Crazy thing is I bought my bike in gp shift ... I thought that was how it was supposed to be lol
Thank you very much 👍🏾🏍🇬🇧💯🇬🇧💯🇬🇧🇬🇧
So you don't need to buy any parts for this? You just turn the shift lever 180 degrees?
+beniscool4u That is correct sir
this is one of the best mods you can do with your bike and it also free
@@reinzdonayre8721 what does it do for the bike?
Got that side face lol hahaha
My friend told me how to do it.. But never done yet. u get used it soon??
Cali Girl Rider Second day, pretty much got it down. Just double checking myself occasionally, lol.
Hahaha so do u like GP shift?
I do very much yes.
Great video!
Nice
Nice.. thanks for your sharing. I want change shifting metode on my bike like gp shifting
Does this work the same on a gsxr-1000 l2?
From what my buddy said with a similar year 1000, the shifter design is different.
Good video very helpful thanks for the post
Finally a decent instructional video on this. Does anyone know if it's the same on current years? Hope so.
thank you
Dude the first bot is stuck in my bike and the top part if the bolt only came off what do i do
thank you... im going to do this >>
#gsxlife :) haha
Awesome thanks dude!
What's the very first bolt that you removed called? Or the part you removed it from. I need to buy a new one and dont know🤦♂️ Thanks for any help🤙
is it the same for the '09 750 since they share the same parts?
Drey Goss It SHOULD be but I can not confirm 100%. If the assembly looks the same then I do not see why not.
thanks I'll see how it goes, good video im subscribing
Thanks allot for this how to!
MitchellS46 my pleasure.
Thank you von video- Top!
that`s why i love my Gixer L4 :) so easy to upgrade the bike. nice video :)

+Curtis Hill Awesome man! Let me know how you like it.
good video dude. I was chiming in to see how to do it
Hey dude, you put the bolt in the wrong direction on the upper mount that you flipped. Fix that.
Its threaded on both sides.

+johnnie169 Thats wierd, have not heard that one, maybe the screw bound on the shift shaft splines?
The bolt needs to be from the bottom to get the lever to squeeze it onto the splines as intended. This can eventually get loose on the splines over time and could skip, wear on the splines and damage the splines.
Exactly. The way it is done in the video is wrong. You will eventually ruin the teeth on the spline. Bolt has to go in from the other way.
Awesome thanks dude!

It's just preference.
The major benefit is you can upshift in a turn if you need to. Mostly down to preference if you don’t track/race your bike.
Ahem....Circlip pliers😉
🤫 Whispers: " its gone unnoticed this long."
Why was the speedo off?
I had just installed my sprockets and had not recieved my "Speedo Healer" yet.
Gear indicator still function correctly?
Yes.
Can this be done on an 05 gsxr 600
Message me a photo of the shifter and linkage
I used to own a 05 600, yea it can be done

Still fine to this day.
Still not correct. It will flex and flex and then one day it will be fucked.
@Wes Anderson so the snap ring bolt needs to be on the bottom hole?hoke? U add a time stamp for what ur talking about?

+aldo ladron de guevara Do it and find out.
Do I still need to hold the clutch to shifting gears?
Yes
First of all you are 100% wrong needle nose work just fine you are just not good enough to do it
Or you can do it the right way...crazy concept.
If you can't afford the right tools...step away from the bike. Proper circlip pliers are cheap as chips... No excuse
How do you like gp style? I shall try this on my bike
Zim Killgore I am liking it so far, if it is as easy for you as it was for me to change it over then give it a try!
