GOAT. The sound out of it is reacher, more organic with wunderfull harmonics. End of the chain, after the EQ. What I really appreciate is how easy and intuitive are the fonctionalities of the different knobs. Also, it is never "too much" effect, which does sound very digital and over the top in many other digital or even analog pedals. One of the few pedal that will never leave my board (except evtl. for v3 if it has preset!). I have retired 3 pedals that would try to badly emulate the sound I was searching for. My chain is: Noise Suppressor NS-1X, Compressor Wampler, Klone Centaura, EQ Boss GE-7, Stymor DECO v2, looper, direct into H&K 20W into Marshall MR1974CX Handwire. Gibson Lespaul Standart 60S & Fender Strat Custom Shop.
I use mine at the end of the chain, in stereo. The saturation is kept low and with a bit of tone up. It's the most magical addition. Crunch tones really growl, cleans are warmer and it's so organic. It might be digital but it has such an analog feel. The double tracker has so many uses too, and midi presets is the icing on the cake. I love this pedal.
@@darrinwilson8484 Yes but I do have the option to add reverb after it too the way my rig is setup, but For most purposes, adding the tape effect to reverb and or delay works well.
sold my Helix Rack to build a Strymon board. so far Sunset - Riverside - Volante - Mobius - Timeline - Big Sky. I have serious GAS for the V2 Deco. Ran out of stuff to sell though.
Nice! I would love the Mobius and Volante. I have same as you except I have El Capistan V1 but Deco is looking really good right now. I wonder how you use your Riverside and Sunset. I run the Riverside into Sunset
I need help, the persons who use it as insert in their DAW I have a big echo like you opened your mic, you talk in there and your monitors are at full sound, its an horrible noise and because of this I can't use it fully, I already did the thing on my sonship for deactivating direct monitoring, I think
I’ve never understood the hype all over this pedal. I’ve never played through a tape recorder or reel-to-reel so it’s not a sound I’ve ever been on a quest to achieve.
Cool story man. Lol something like the Deco is great because it does the ADT thing very well. Which allows one to replicate a lot of the chorus, flange, and short delays that artists like the frickin Beatles used.
dig the videos but ditch the clickbait thumbnails you started trying. You got eyes on your channel for your review of this product not the "OMGZZ 🤯🤯🤯" thumb nails. Keep it classy.
I forget who makes it, there is an analog (not actual tape) tape emulation pedal. It’s interesting, it this, I think, does a better job of emulating tape. Personally I would usually use this at lower settings, the higher settings are going to start to sound digital and less tapey. Not sure how to get the best emulation of high saturation tape without using tape!
This Deco is Strymon’s masterpiece

I appreciate your well thought out explanations. You can explain a lot with very few words.
I just pulled the trigger in one of these to use with acoustic guitar and vocals in a mixer insert. Looking forward to test it! :D

By end of chain do you mean after delay and reverbs even?

I have a question, do you use it like an insert in your computer ?
@@Neptune-uu3dt no, just on my pedal board, but I have just got the deco plug in which is great for my DAW
@@darrinwilson8484 yes. I figure it's like the tape that the music I love was recorded on.
Had the MK1 for years and it has always been my favourite pedal on my board.
Sold my MK1 to get the MK2, patiently awaiting its arrival. IMO it’s a criminally underrated pedal
@@JPGenergy Was the upgrade worth it ? About to do the same thanks
I have the Deco V1 too but dont know how to change the tone of the Tape Saturation, please help

Had a V1 besides the cool tape style effects i liked using it as a low gain overdrive.
Well done! Your video just pushed me over the edge on my purchase!
You’re starting to convince me. What cool tones!
Yes, yes it is.
Strymon 😎
Great demo! Subbed. 😎👍
If I never heard another Andy Summers reference in a chorus demo I’d be ok with it
Who is Andy Summers?

In my experience, it's better to try things then make a decision. I think of all the things I would have missed if I never tried them.
@@cellardoor7500Ouch, be nice! lol
It’s basically like having subtle to aggressive flange with a bit of chorus or delay thrown in (that are also flangey).
Man, I bought the Generation Loss Mk II, I meant to buy this lol Reverb here I come.
Worth getting over OG version?
Yes. That tone control on the saturation alone is reason enough but if you use midi, this version is the one to have.
Is there an internal knob too clean up distortion?
Just set the saturation at 0

Amazing, but digital... kindly pass, especially with the price tag. I'd pay that price tag for an "all" analog* signal chain.
Do you expect them to put an actual tape machine in there?
