My Model A pick-up has a straight axle in the rear also. Despite the design effort, to control suspension movement, with linkages, the tendency for the axle to attempt to rotate (in multiple directions) under extreme torque input, is inevitable.
The result is uneven weight distribution during acceleration.
One rear tire is pressed downward, increasing traction, while the opposite rear tire is lifted.
1960s Shelby Mustangs were equipped with straight rear axles, which were modified by locating the differential housing off-center, to compensate for torque. Thus, maintaining balanced traction during hard acceleration. The drawback, of course, was increased imbalance when downshifting, but was an acceptable compromise at the time.
I will be considering a Jaguar rear conversion (with the inboard disc brakes) which effectively nullifies torque induced suspension misbehavior, and keeps the rear firmly planted, while your foot is firmly planted. 😎👍

that looks lovely, that colour really pop's but stand well back and have a look front on, that blue paint on the bottom of the grille shell behind the bars really take's away from such a pretty nose, I feel it would make that deuce grille look a whole lot better if it was satin black! not meaning to criticise, just try slipping a piece of black paper behind the bars and stand back to look again, just sayin the little things are what makes such a nice car a real standout!

This was never ever for a second built to be any kind of period correct car. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, a mandrel bent frame, aluminum headed sbc etc.. It was built by my friend that has wanted to build a model a for many many years. He built it exactly how he wanted to and he is more than happy with it. He could also give a fuck about what anyone else thinks about it.
