Within seconds of the opening chords of “Holding On” and the tears just started streaming down my face - not because I’m sad - but because these guys make the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard my entire life.
Hell yeah... Freaking amazing song and music, and damn... I love the "Dylanesque" voice.
Fxuck same happened to me 😭😭😭

You Don't Have To Wash
"What's your denim story?" - best line said by any artist ever
No matter how many drums Charlie uses, always perfectly in time. And the bass!!
I just met Adam on such a different level, he sounds like an unbelievably down to earth man. Respect!
where?

This band is going to grow exceptionally fast over the next few years. Their lyrics resonate with lots of peoples mental struggles which are growing in our society.
1000% but I think as well the amount of artists who say that the war on drugs are a huge inspiration is growing and growing.
❤this band speaks to many people struggling n these trying days, great musicians; great lyrics. Keep writing as the Spirit gives you words and music
this comment aged well. right on point.
These guys are a well oiled machine.... producing flawlessly beautiful music
Now i'm watching every single show or appareance of War On Drugs! Damn, this is good!
makes 2 of us
Their live shows are far superior than their studio versions
Greatest band on the planet.
Thank you for the magic you create. Life changing.
These basslines are killing me man
Totally
Solid as a rock!
Dave H is a massively underrated bass player.
I’m from El Salvador and grew up listening to my dads' classic rock collection lps. From Beatles to Queen, LED Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, and David Bowie to name a few. This band truly blows my mind. I was lucky enough to see them perform live in Pomona a few months ago. Amazing experience, can’t wait to see them live again.
Your dad has the same classic rock music that I have! How about Dylan, Stones, Byrds, Yardbirds, Neil Young, Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, Jimi Hendrix, Zombies, CS&N, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, among others?
Can't stop listening to their last 3 albums. So excited to see them in November 2017 in London.

I am ALWAYS excited to see these guys play! Loved them in NYC at Radio City Music Hall and also Central Park; acoustics not the best at Terminal 5 but I've seen (heard) other musicians there that also weren't done justice there. My favourite was at Radio City Music Hall, best sound, best TWoD concert I've seen yet. Hopefully, we can all get together again after this COVID cabin fever restructuring and revival of the world! I can't wait to see all you guys play again. I miss you all!
They are one of the best bends in the world, and so very few people know about them, what a shame! Fantastic performance!
This guy comes off as a genuinely nice guy. New music is strong contender for #1 on any top ten list for 2017.
unless said top 10 lest is top 10 worst songs.
Nathaniel Pillar has made UA-cam's Top 10 Worst Comments.
Thanks! I'm honoured!
Far too many question marks, poor english, poor judgment.
u wot m8
Whoever said "Gross" in the audience...You made my day
Why?
You Don't Have To Go !
my god !
it's such a song that heals the heart: rhythm, melody, voice, harmony => human
4:54 - 5:24 - greatest 30 seconds of music that I’ve listened to in 10 years.
You would like the outro of Racing in the Street by Bruce in the Paramount Theatre then. Or(!) On Every Street by Dire Straits.
Dave Hartley and Charlie Hall are such a brilliant rhythm section
is just perfect.. i can´t stop listening since lost in a dream 2014...
This is now my favourite video on UA-cam ever
He's like working out standup material between songs
(I say that approvingly and meant to use an exclamation point)
Cant stop listening!
me too lol
Fantastic band! Best album 2017! Definitely!
Saw them in Brussels. Gorgeous. Hope to see them again soon during summer festivals.

The third band in my life that i travel the world to see.

How many times does she say "you guys"
Love these guys a lot!!! Come to Chattanooga
Mark Kozelek still thought this was too loud. My favorite beer commercial...
So fucking good! Love these guys.
"get out" XD
169 views... While Despacito gets billions.
Insane.
They may not have the huge numbers, but I prefer that they're kind of a hidden gem. I always thought this band has one of the best fanbases, and I think it's a reflection of the band's own mentality and grounded attitude, and if they got too famous, it would probably change. No matter where you're from, I think they always have that "local act" vibe, the spirited attitude that makes you want to cheer for them and make you smile when they do well. I'll always love this band, because their music is something that speaks to my soul, and no matter how I'm feeling, their tunes always cheer me up. That's what music is about ultimately, isn't it? Not about record sales, or fame, it's about creating a ripple effect that spreads across people, affecting their lifes and gives them a positive outlook. That's what I love about music in general, because it's an universal language, that not everyone can speak, but everyone can understand.
Not me. Never had any urges to watch nor listen to that crap. I'll take this every time.
Who is Despacito?
Yes but you know one thing about that 87k (in 2020) views and counting. We are here together and we know why. Because we aprecciate the good music, the beautiful and painful lyrics, and we love traveling with War On Drugs.
Adam is modern day Bob Dylan, luckily we have one of his era doing the great great dylan's style stuff, i like the solo background of every line Adam sing, just simply superb, Adam guitar chords is one of the most melodic combination of G, C, D, Em, Bm just as what he did " I don't live here anymore".
thanks for this
I gave up drinking many years ago, but I'd grab a few cold ones with Adam. Seems like a solid dude.
❤
Absolutely amazing but I missed the solos
Love love love 😍
Puuuh this is epic!!!
Bobby Hill is my spirit animal.
Adam goin a hundred miles an hour. Love ya bud.
Charlie wearin' that good old Bob Dylan shirt
Love Ringo
Donnie is totally in his element on the guitar
Adam is such a likeable person, I wish I could be like that.
That sounds sad
But honest. And I love it :)
@@lindajanssen1994 Thank you for replying to my comment. I am assuming you found it to be sad, because it implies loneliness and/or perhaps too much humility. Did you not? I actually do not need to know why you found it to be sad, but I am interested in you noticing me as a vulnerable person. A person with flaws. I guess a person like any other, but open - or honest as you called it - about his or her desire to connect (and implying not being able to do so). How does that feel to see someone that way? That vulnerable? I am assuming it felt bad in a way, because I am pretty sure you're emphatic enough. You know, it is okay, feeling bad for someone. If it helps, it happens to me too sometimes.
@@Haassan1 I meant that it is honest to put a comment like that on this video. Different from the others. About the person itself, not about the song. Why I think it is sad, is that you compare yourself with a singer, that, in you’ve made (in your head) a likeable person. But I understand now, it is not about him you want to be. It is that you want to be a likeable person as well. Believe me, you probably are! I think it is sad to compare yourself to others, especially when you don’t know that person :) we make others always better and way more cool then they probably are. That’s it. I wasn’t trying to burn you.
My denim story: my mom got me Tough Skins but I wanted Levis.
"Goes well with a kale salad."
Horrible! I refuse to watch any WOD video that has that beautiful bassist sitting down. I love to watch him shake his stuff to the rhythm of his own sweet sweet bass. 😁😉
Adam suits that Hummingbird. I have the same guitar but looks cool as fuck on him ;)
instructions for washing - "do not wash"
...and don’t hang out to dry 🙏
At the beginning of Holding On, Adam plays the Em note for a little bit more time because he's changing the effect sound and then he comes back to the normal progression. But it sounds so great! I wish that they play the intro that way live

@6:32 Funny!
The quality of our dreams are both a reflection of our thoughts and actions as well as a foreshadowing of the fate of our souls in the next life...A nightly, temporary karma that beckons us to change - for the good - so as to avoid a more permanent karma.

The Figure 8 Analogy:
An analogy on life, death, the dreamstate and the symbolism intertwined within the human experience.
We human beings are not moving in the - abstract - motion of a straight line towards death (for instance, the numerical straight line of say 1-89), rather we are moving in the motion of a figure 8. The Figure 8 is a natural repeating pattern that is divided into two halves and is thus the perfect symbol to represent the human life cycle and our two primary states of existence that we are continuously moving in and out of -the awake state and the dream state.
When we awake from sleep, we come full circle to when we fall back asleep (represented by the bottom half of the figure 8), and when we go into the dream state, we come full circle to when we awake from the dream state (represented by the top half of the figure 8). Upon death, the figure 8 of life untwines, but it is not the body untwining from the mind that this analogy represents; It's two states of mind untwining to form a larger state of mind...(8->0)...Because the awake state is really a state -of mind, with our body's physical reality "consciously" intertwined, and the dream state is also a state -of mind, with our body's physical reality "subconsciously" intertwined. Therefore; upon death, these two states "of mind" untwine to form a larger state of mind...A state that has all the potentialities of the dream world (flying, telepathy, psychokinesis, etc) combined with all the actualities of the awake world(nature, form, bonds, etc). This I refer to as the "transitional analogy."
While conceiving this analogy I realized life and death must be perceived - from one point of view - as seperate entities(the transitional analogy), but must also be perceived - from another point of view - as inseperable entities(the symbolic analogy) -both of which are ultimately linked by the dream state.
The symbolic analogy consists of the untwined figure 8 of life/the 'circle of death' abstractly overlapping the 'circle of life'/the earth -with the overlappment representing the dream state (like the common area in a venn diagram), which implies that the dream state is just as much a part of life as is of death (by which semi-explains precognitive dreams, prodromal dreams, "visitations" by deceased relatives, etc; for the dream state has a foothold in the afterlife) and is based on the premise that "while our body sleeps, our dream state symbolically represents the state that awaits upon our body's ultimate rest.
In other words, while we are lying down and -sleeping/dreaming, this natural process symbolizes where we go when we're ultimately lying down/dead -to a place "like" our dream state...A state "of mind", with our body's physical bonds eternally engrained and intertwined.
