Eric is mr darts He put darts on the map He gave us 5 world titles He gave us phil taylor And he helped to give us the pdc Eric is a true darting legend Rest in peace 🎯
I've been watching a few old darts videos of late and discovered this one. Eric was one of my favourites back in the day. I saw him standing outside the Holiday Inn Hotel near Russell Square a month or so before he went on to appear in I'm a Celebrity. Great documentary and it's still hard to believe he's no longer with us. He was a heavy drinker and smoker though and lived his life the way he wanted. I don't blame him to be honest. I've seen it first hand, people die who are non drinkers and smokers younger than him. Live life to the full as best you can. You get one shot at it!
Darts died when Eric did and Phil Taylor retired, Eric was a gent, in person he was a top guy, his boozer, The Crafty Cockmey, if you weren't in there by 8pm you'd be in a mass Q,,, had fab night's, great memories, RIP Eric, *Nobody does it Better*
the man who made darts what it is today all of us have alot to thank Eric for always in my thoughts hope he's up there enjoying himself RIP Crafty Cockney
Ciggies, beer and darts! The choice of champions! Great video that shows Eric to be supercool! Smoking on the train, darts in the pub, Opel Record cars on the road, makes me think that modern life is rubbish!
Too young to die at 60 by today's standards. He was a legend and of his time. People often assumed he was big-headed, arrogant and cocky, but I just think he had to adjust to being revered and it can be difficult to deal with if you come from an ordinary working class background. He's obviously a likeable cheeky Cockney and he did well from having a chance talent.
Great Upload, love him or hate him, he has always said what he thought and with today's PC Brigade that's something to behold. Take a look at Blood on the Carpet - The Split in Darts. He also says "I thought I was gonna win so I told everybody' Also love the way he owns the Radio DJ who thought he could talk down to him at the start, got owned then put his ego to the side and talked to him properly, not gonna get too much over the Crafty Cockney! A great era of many sports, miss those days.
I'm referring to how he looks now and this has affected his hand coordination! His dartitis used to come and go and he recently explained that if he got the first dart to go in then the others would be okay. Of course he was a special player, but he's not helping himself today.
The difference between Bristow and Taylor. Bristow made Darts huge in this country and beyond. You could argue quite rightly that Taylor was a better player; however, he did not have the impact on the game that Bristow had and Taylor had absolutely zero charisma. Bristow love him or hate him was the Botham of Darts. In fact Botham and Bristow were the two biggest sports stars of the 1980s in Britain. They were known by everyone on the street. That was the big difference. Bristow was the legend and Taylor was a very good darts player.
I meant he won the most for winning an individual title, but ur right that Lowe won the most prize money in any single tournament. With the 9 darters in the SKY tournament, this amount has been improved on by Taylor.
Bobby George has always thought he was something special and his book is filled with him bragging about how great he was. He only threw his first dart at 30 and he was able to pay for his son to tour the World and gain the points to qualify for the BDO this year. He got the easiest draw and I'm glad that Waites murdered him! He won the news of the world and in his book, he even claimed that this was the top event and equivalent to winning World title!
In the perspective of things in 2015, it's so weird seeing the smoking that never stops. Pints and smokes, it goes quite well with the game doesn't it? Great film, and a very interesting insight of the early days.
I was slightly wrong about the amount of money , but he did have that record until Sky coverage raised the prize money. He won 42 grand in 1988 and I'm sure he beat Bob Sinneave in final. The 1992 World champion won 28 grand, so he did hold this record once.
This looks like the family house and he's shown in his bedroom, but I know that he moved up to Stoke in around 1982 and lives there today; Leek, I think.
I dig the music in this. Anyone know of a soundtrack or LP available or what it might be called? I searched for the musicians in the credits and saw that they are some British comedy band, but couldn't find anything they did related to this film
I’m me, i’m not a gentlemen and i’m here to win what a great attitude, that got phil Taylor where he is today and they all hated phil for winning so many times.Fuck em all if you have got the ability in life to succeed then go for it as life takes no prisoners.
Okay, u think u know so much about Eric and so tell me who is the man in the clip who is playing darts with him in his house and the man driving him to the exhibition? Also, he still holds the record for winning the most prize money in one tournament, so name it?
I heard about this programme years ago and never had chance to see it. That link I'm unable to send u, u should hear it because Bobby George is featured and he even saids that he didn't think Eric was the best player. What a load of crap!
Considering that Eric was earning good money at this time, the place could've done with a paint job and some new wallpaper on his wall! He claimed his dad was a plasterer and he a proof reader, but I know different and it looked more like a squat! Even the poor Londoners never lived like that!
I think he's saying that his friend used to drive him to tournaments all over the country, but now he takes the train. They fell out when Eric became successful.
I think the reasons behind his loss of form isn't just his dartitis! His throw action isn't as smooth as it once was and you only had to watch him trying to wire that thing around the circuit whilst in the jungle, to see him struggle with heavy hands! As he has got older and bigger, this has affected his co-ordination! He should worry more about getting fitter than the dartitis!
Darts All-Time Top Ten Jocky Wilson Big Cliff Lazarenko Adrian Lewis Andy Fordham Eric Bristow Leighton Rees Bobby George Paul Lim Phil Taylor Keith Deller
great documentary, the working mens clubs are disappearing, pubs are dying, darts is now less about the players and more about the show and arenas are filled with drugged up thugs
Well, I have a better understanding of the game than you do, plus remember, you replied to my comments first and I am being polite by responding! Why don't u check out my Keith Deller fb page and you'll see how much of a fan I am! I also have a Jocky Wilson one, where his granddaughter is a member and I write to frequently.
Barry West Ok, you know a lot about darts, well, you certainly have a lot to say and you seem to think a lot of yourself whilst at the same time talking down about others. You slag Bristows home, call him a liar about his job, you slag Bobby George off too. You don't seem like a nice fella at all.
Played him on stage in a doubles exhibition with Kieth Deller. Total gentleman. Knew I was nervous, put me at ease. Legend
Eric is mr darts

He gave us phil taylor
And he helped to give us the pdc
Eric is a true darting legend
Rest in peace 🎯
Without Eric darts wouldn't have been popular today and may have disappeared all together
And I think we can forgive him about phil taylor.
I just heard Eric died today and thought I would watch this great documentary about him once more. What a great player.

well said
Two things strike me about this. One, how old people looked at the twenty two in them days. Two, how much the country's changed.
Glad you liked it Richard. The music takes me back to happy times.
Thanks for stopping by. Greg.
This is a rare treat , never seen it before . Rip Brissy

Absolute legend. R.I.P. Eric. You lead the way.
George, his dad, lovely guy
Surely the most iconic and recognisable darts player ever - his ability was only matched by his charisma. Absolute legend!
R.I.P. Great film, thanks.
RIP Eric Bristow. A character like that you don't see in sport these days. True legend.
Ciggies, beer and darts! The choice of champions! Great video that shows Eric to be supercool! Smoking on the train, darts in the pub, Opel Record cars on the road, makes me think that modern life is rubbish!

Modern life is, We are all being programmed. Know your enemy!

RIP Eric Bristow :-(
26:08 Throws two darts into the floor because he knew he'd hit the double in one.
How boss is that?
Eric was playing darts in his house with his father; the other man was his manager, Dick , and Eric won the most money in a 1988 tournament in Japan.
Best action ever......don’t think you would disagree?
30:05 Eric in Heaven playing darts, Legend.
In fact, Eric was 4-1 behind and won 5-4 and he actually swore at him. I read about it in one of Lowe's books.
R.I.P Eric
I once spoke to a player who won the 1999 Norway Open and he didn't even think George was a proper player! This goes to show what most think of him.
Loved watching this, well done for uploading, really enjoyable.

Basically was the world's Up until the embassy started in 78. Bobby won his notw titles in 79 and 86

On the 13min, notice the reg plate on the car practically spells eejit.
Yes, that's obviously what it was supposed to say.
Anyone know what the piece of music at the very end is?
26:05 was pretty cheecky. Drop two unneeded darts on the floor before closing dbl-19.
Okay, u think u know so much about Eric and so tell me who is the man in the clip who is playing darts with him in his house and the man driving him to the exhibition?
Also, he still holds the record for winning the most prize money in one tournament, so name it?
He looked a bit like David Koresh back in 79!
is that Joe Fagin, singing on stage?
Anyone know what the song is at the start?

25:55 Who's the little bloke with the blonde curly hair?
Considering that Eric was earning good money at this time, the place could've done with a paint job and some new wallpaper on his wall!
He claimed his dad was a plasterer and he a proof reader, but I know different and it looked more like a squat! Even the poor Londoners never lived like that!
What's that song playing at the beginning?

R.I.P Eric gone but not forgotten
22:10 - 24:17
26:05 darts in floor 26:33
22 years old?
Why did he drop his darts on 26:05?
7:16 What is Eric saying here?
Who is he talking about that used to be a friend of his?
I think he's saying that his friend used to drive him to tournaments all over the country, but now he takes the train. They fell out when Eric became successful.
Sounded like he said he sacked him
I think the reasons behind his loss of form isn't just his dartitis! His throw action isn't as smooth as it once was and you only had to watch him trying to wire that thing around the circuit whilst in the jungle, to see him struggle with heavy hands!
As he has got older and bigger, this has affected his co-ordination! He should worry more about getting fitter than the dartitis!
Looks like he put two darts on floor, to prove he only needed 1 dart to finish the double 19. Quite degrading for the opponent lol.
