@Dzaky El Fikri a fine point. Most people don’t recognize rulers unless something dramatic happened during their reign. Many decent rulers had no real drama to speak of during their reign. Therefore, they weren’t as noted in history as those who did, and they would have been especially overshadowed by all the bad rulers who reigned.

Adam Malik technically, although a lot of it can be attributed to Tywin, if you look back through history you start to realise almost all of the great rulers surrounded themselves with competent advisors and commanders who would would make up for the rulers shortcomings. So in that sense he was a good king before the whole crazy thing.

The show doesn't do justice to the story as the show story is always rushed and loose some of the important story plots.

Funny thing is that, in the books, Dorne always mentioned to be one of the hardest place to conquer, example is the Targayen assimilation of them is just through marriage and the Tyrell's perpetual invasion failure. Now, in the show it feels like Dorne is just an accessory. The only mentioned characters about Dorne in the series are the sand snakes and Arianne Martell.
Yep, Dorne was low key nerfed hard. Barely saw any of it either, outside of just a small garden and some sand dunes on a beach that one time Jamie and Bronn went there

The characters in asoiaf always reference Naerys and her Dragonknight (Aemon), and man is their story just actually tragic. How grrm got me rooting for a sibling to be with their other sibling
Every single Aemons in the targeryen family have all been great people , really good guys and unfortunately not a single one had a chance to be king .
I hope Jon's Targaryen name is Aemon (because, he can't be Aegon in the books)

Maegor the Cruel and Aemon the Dragonknight i feel are direct paradoxes of each other with Good and Evil. But as far as skill i think theyre up to par.
Qhorin Halfhand is definitely up there. He was feared by wildlings he was basically their boogeyman. And he learned how to be great with both hands something jaime cant do lol. Cregan Stark was said by Aemon the DK to be the most gifted swordfighter he ever saw. Barristan is definetly a force of nature as well. Hacked through the golden company a one man army and killed the last blackfyre.
Finally, dont forget the man who Aemon himself described to be the best swordfighter he ever challenged: Lord Cregan Stark!
Yeah cause aemon was notoriously generous and humble, in reality he was a way better fighter than cregan. There are only 2 people in the history of asiof said to be better than aemon, they are arthur dwayne and daemon blackfyr.

If that is true then when he says cregan is the best he can not be a liar and you must take it as Bible or else aemon is then a liar and NOT the most honorable knight ever. When aemon fought cregan, cregan was in his late 40s, early 50s. He was no longer in his prime. Aemon called an OUT OF PRIME cregan the finest swordsman he ever fought because they fought to a standstill.
If an out of prime cregan is EQUAL to a prime aemon then obviously a younger cregan would have beaten him easily. Cregan wielded “ice” the ancestral stark Valyrian great sword vs aemons cute tiny dark sister so aemon wouldn’t have an advantage of having the better sword either.
Besides, let’s not forget aemon died fighting two average nobodies. Cregan was the better swordsman obviously.
@@LegendInThaMakin creagan never used ice in battle. ice was too long to be used in battle, it simply served as an official weapon used for executions. Also aemon called him the best swordsman that he fought, doesn't mean he's better than aemon himself.

I will be going over each points and presenting my arguments.
Salt and Smoke-Azor Ahai is born amidst salt and smoke. Hotpie is a baker;s son, a bakers's shop would have smoke from the ovens and salt for bread and meat.
Bleeding Star-Hotpie has boasted about killing a boy by kicking him until he died. Due to the large amount of kicking the boy was likely hit in the head. It's a common trope that when hit hard enough in the head a person will see "stars". The boy is the bleeding star. This was Hotpie's first kill, and the official start of his journey, as it is why he is sent to the nights watch.
Dragons-Hotpie will create a dragon of bread as a gift to Daenerys. The oven will be of stone, and the rising bread could be described as "awakening"
Creation of Lightbringer-This is a metaphor for how he perfected his Gravy recipe. Hotpie had his finishing touches on this sacred nector in the inn on the crossroads. He left Harrenhall from a man across the water, who killed lannister men (Lions), Arya is Nissa Nissa, and the person that saved and inspired him to continue his pursuits in creating of Lightbringer. Lightbringer is not a sword, but the food for all of the soldiers in the great war, that will lead his forces to victory
Targaryen Blood-Hotpie is obviously a bastard child of Rhaella, Rhaella has been stated to dislike her marrage to Aerys, and she obviously had a child with a baker.
Ice & Fire-Hotpie has made mention of a place called Winterhell, obviously Ice & Fire
Three Heads-Gendry, Hotpie, and Arya. (or Baratheon, Targaryen and Stark, 3 of the biggest houses)
Anyone got proof or contradictions feel free to correct me.

I really like this theory except for one thing. See Pounce is Azor Ahai! He has claws made of Valyrian Steel and his teeth are Dragonglass. He is also Tommen's rightful heir. Long live Ser Pounce!

I personally believe he fathered Daeron II. The naming is too poetic to ignore -- he redeemed his believed "failure" in Daeron the Young Dragon dying while he was the of the Kingsguard, only to have sired one of the the greatest kings the realm ever knew, named Daeron.

Even if Daeron II was a bastard from Aemon, I would rather have it been Aemon (who would've made a great king) than Aegon who plunged the kingdoms into civil war after trying to name his own bastard aka Daemon Blackfyre king over his trueborn son. The Blackfyres are partly why bastards are treated so badly in Westeros because Daemon tried to usurp his brother's claim as Aegon preferred him and unrightfully groomed him to be his heir. He was called the Unworthy for a reason. Naerys deserved better than him

Baelor Targaryen was a man mad from faith, and derided in the seven kingdoms for suppossedly giving the High Septon position yo a 6 year old, but all this came after his penance walk through Dorne. This was a hundred times more courageous than anything the Young Dragon did and a thousand times more selfless. The Kingdoms love the king that was a failed warmonger, but deride the king that brought them peace, and perhaps was who truly opened the door for the Targaryens-Martell alliancr.
Baelor the blessed was the only time the coin landing on madness did more good tham harm.
Unfortunately, he was too pious to live (litterally) since his religious hjinks got him killed.

Being a knight isnt just about how well you fight. Aemon is a better model knight as he is selfless and has proven it time and time again. Dayne was a good fighter but we dont know alot about him.

I think there's a interesting parallel between him and Barristan. Both of them served bad men and their finest acts is serving those men instead of standing against them.
Aemon died to save Aegon IV, his death allowed Aegon IV to begin questioning his sons legitimacy and the Blackfyre Rebellion began.
Barristan's finest hour was saving Aerys II in Duskendale which caused Aerys II to inflict suffering on so many.
I think this is George trying to show how following your oaths isn't always the most moral thing.

And with this, making the Blackfyres the rightful kings of Westeros after Aegon the Unworthy's death!

Daemon Blackfyre is probably the most gifted swordfighter in the lore. A cheap shot from Brynden Rivers bow during an honorable gesture to a respectable enemy is the only cause of his downfall.

i think in the books, jon's real name is Aemon after the dragonknight and the maester of the night's watch. i doubt george would name two of rhaegal's sons Aegon. d&d correctly guessed that r+l=j but that doesn't mean george told them jon's real name. it's just weird for a father to name two of his sons the exact same name.

I think Hodor's actually the best knight in the story. He died by sacrificing his life to bring down more wights than Gaime Lannister could've hoped to, even with both his hands.

He's the epitome of a liability, he always wants to show his bravery and prove himself to his peers, friends, and himself so he joins in on the massive battles only to then be the reason why a swordsman dies lol.

Aemon the Dragon Knight was the most noble and the true definition of what a knight is supposed to be and the ideals and beliefs that he stood for, also are any of the Starks Knights? I know they are descendants of the first men and Knighthood is more associated with the Andal invasion and the religion of the 7, the first men prayed to the old God's,and the weirwood forests were theyre cathedrals,where they made blood sacrifices to the old Gods.
None of the Starks are knights because knights take vows to the seven, and the Starks follow the Old Gods(True Gods imo), so they would never take those vows. There aren't very many knights in the North.

Pretty sure we see Bran pray to the Old Gods a few times in the books, but I guess he'd be willing to take the vows anyway for the honor of being a fricking Kingsguard. Knighthood is considered a great honor in Westeros.

Two Pokemon jokes can be made in A Song of Ice and Fire: Hodor saying only Hodor and saying the title Dragonknight. Saying Dragonknight sounds exactly like the Pokemon Dragonite. Clever play on words. Three years ago I met the actor who played Hodor and I asked him if people made Pokemon jokes about Hodor behind the scenes like "Who's the Pokemon?" and he said yes.
We get these amazing fighters, yet they have less impact on the main plots. Great fighters are more like legend in the old fogs folklore?

In many ways he mirrors Jaime, but when Jaime chose to do what was right instead of becoming a legendary hero his legacy became tarnished and he was dubbed "Kingslayer".
