There’s just something magical about the Daniel Smith colors! When you started swatching them, I swear, it took my breath away! Thank goodness, mine arrive, tomorrow. I think I may have outgrown what I have, now.
Thanks, Kathryn!! I agree, the Daniel Smith's are magical especially the ones that granulate! I'm glad you enjoyed! I hope you enjoy your new colors!! TFW
Stephanie I think of the Daniel Smith my favorite is cobalt teal blue. That is a color I am accenting in my new house. The other the Windsor Newton would be the purple. Thanks for showing those colors. I love how much your videos show your love for water coloring and my gosh your turtle. AWESOME! Hugs Connie
Connie Inman Thanks, Connie! I love the Cobalt Teal Blue! I want to get that color in every brand. I’m trying to bring that color into our home decor too! 😉 You are welcome, have you tried any watercolors yet? Thank you, I had a lot of fun playing with the gouache for the first time! Hugs
Sintang Mayumi Thanks, Sintang! Me too, I can wait to pour the new colors into pans. Thank you, I had so much fun playing with gouache for the first time! 💕
Stephanie, I think we have a few of the same addictions! Lol! I have a few full sets of watercolor, my baby is my Holbein full set tubes. I just ordered $150 of the Windsor and Newton professional tubes from Jackson’s, to add to the 25 I already have. I have s question? How long is shipping from Jackson’s US store? Thank you so much for all the sharing and inspiration!! Liz😊💗👍🏼
Hi Elizabeth! So nice to meet you then, I wish you lived closer!! ;) Haha, I'm already researching Holbein prices after your last post! I'm so happy for you getting the W&N watercolors, how fun!!! Jackson's is in the UK, but my orders ship from Sweden. My orders take 2-3 weeks to arrive, when I don't pay for the 2-4 day shipping. They don't have a US Store, but direct you to the US Store on their website so you get the correct price and you don't have to pay the VAT. That saves you about 18%, and makes many brands more affordable for us from here in the USA, for brands not made in the USA. I hope that makes sense! But, yes...always choose the "US Store" since you are from the USA. Thanks so much for your comments, I have loved reading them! I'm sorry it took me awhile to answer, I always do my best to answer. Have fun with your new W&N!!! Feel free to enable me with your favorite colors I might "need"! ;)
Love your new supplies! You are going to have so much colorful fun! Just have a couple comments to add. Rhodia is available at Michaels and you can use a coupon ( they also take Joann and AC Moore coupons so I almost always get half off or more). Gouache can be used dried in a palette, although some.brands can crumble due to not enough humectant in the mix. You may add a drop of honey or vegetable glycerin to a half pan and it should not crack. For paints falling off your pallet - if it isn’t too crumbly - you can glue it down with gum arabic. None of these will harm the paint and they will still be archival. M Graham gouache (one of the best IMO) does not crack much and stays in the pan; it also re-wets easily. Note - I replied to your email, you may want to check your spam again. Hoe you enjoy your new art supplies!
Thank you! Yes, I saw a few Rhodia pads at Michaels, but they are only $3.66 at Jackson's and they have all the sizes etc. Yes, I have found a better palette to use and I had already added honey to help them a bit...I will be covering that in my review soon. I like to be honest with people, so they know what to expect with new products. Thanks for the sharing your favorite brand of gouache! I've seen lots of people loving Holbein gouache, but I'm not ready to invest in that yet. Thanks, I've been loving them all!
Yay, how fun!! I know I was a bit nervous my first time ordering overseas, too. No, I've never had an order get lost. I have placed probably 20 + orders with Jackson's. The only problem I have ever had when ordering from Jackson's, was one time I ordered a ceramic palette that I received broken. I contacted them through email, and they sent a new one right away. If I order more than $100, I use the 2-4 day shipping that is usually $8-10. Then I don't worry about my large purchase. Otherwise, I use the tracked shipping, that is cheaper but takes about 3 weeks. I hope your enjoy your new art products!!
@@TheGypsyChic1 thank you! You have helped put my mind at ease. I ordered a Schminke palette and their material guides. I just couldn't pass the deal up.
Yes I did Stephanie , I was crushing hard on the schmincke water color set you showed back a bit ago and they went on sale the 36 pan set 😁 , I’m so excited 😆 for them to arrive !
virtuallycolleen Yeah, I probably should have edited that out 😂 I’m glad you enjoyed it, anyway! Thanks so much, I love sharing about new products. Thanks so much!!! The gouache was lots of fun! 💕
My DS watercolors don't stay in their pans for me. I am constantly having to sort through the loose paint "blocks" after travel. I just thought that was the "normal." Apparently, I didn't put them in their pans correctly.
Marla Harris Most of my DS watercolors stay in their pans. I squeeze some paint in the pan, and let it dry a day or two. Then I fill it with more paint. Some colors seem to shrink or crack though, so I’ve found that helps me. I hope that helps you!
You may glue them in the pans with gum arabic. It is already in the paint and will not hurt it. For extra hard colors - mix a drop of honey or vegetable glycerin into a half pan when filling and it should not crack plus will re-wet more easily.
@@MADAboutCardsandCrafts Winsor & Newton makes some gum arabic in liquid form (it comes in powder as well, usually to be used with calligraphy to thicken ink or in powdered pigments - it is a binder). I picked up a bottle at Michaels but AC Moore should also carry it (these stores take each other's coupons too). If not, you can find it online.
Sonia Esparza Thanks so much, Sonia!! I will be sharing the tutorial of the turtle in my review of the Arteza Gouache soon! I was thinking of you every time I almost chickened out of sharing it 😂. Thanks so much for the requests! 🤗
