You know you have a REAL art supply addiction when you go like
Luminance check, Jean’s watercolors check, little Raphael brushes check,
fountain pen ...oh no, need that...😂
Enjoy your new art supplies!
Thanks so much, Anja!!! Haha, I do the same thing when I watch other art hauls!!! I would love to know your favorite recent favorite, art supply-to make sure I have that as well! ;) Thank you so much, I am enjoying them immensely!
Oh, I enjoy my watercolors, so my favourite ist either a box of Horadam or the Qor travel Set (or both) and a Zig waterbrush and some pens to doodle on top like Posca pens, a gold jelly roll or a black Staedtler or Micron pen.
I totally love my set of both the Luminance and the Museum Aquarelle. the luminance are also great for working on toned paper!
Thanks, Karia!! Me too!!! I love them both so much, I'm saving up to finish my collection of the Museum Aquarelle's!! I've loved using the Luminance especially on bright paper, like turquoise the most. So nice to hear from you!! Wishing you and your wife a fabulous Holiday Season!!!
Stephanie Davis you know I’m always watching especially the hauls. Though I don’t comment much LOL. So never stop sharing your hauls. LOL
Thank you so much for your kind words and enjoy your holiday for you and yours. And I can’t want to see if you get anything for the holidays you feel like sharing.
@@ColoringKaria Same here!!! I usually mean to comment on my laptop to avoid typos...but I watch more on my iPad. LOL I try to comment though, as the comments are what keep me sharing. Which means when I comment, I have watched at least twice ;) Thanks, I always wonder if people will think I'm bragging etc and I really mean to share the deals I found. Oh, I am making my Christmas list for hubby already, I will have plenty to share! Thanks so much!!
Stephanie Davis hugs! I think some people don’t like hauls and I have gotten a fair amount of hate for mine but I just feel bad for those folks. They don’t know me or my struggles. So if they don’t like it or they get mad at you that’s not your fault. Keep sharing because folks love hauls!
@@TheGypsyChic1 neverrrrrr stop the hauls! I love them! I feel inspired to try new things. any negativity from people will most likely be jealousy. I can't afford to buy much in one go (paramedic student!) but I get what I can - when I can. anyone that judges you for getting more, or collecting for a few months then sharing - does not deserve to see your channel! xxx
If you find watercolors that are hard to re-wet or crack when dry, mix in a few drops of humectant such as honey or vegetable glycerin. Love the new paints!
Thank you!
Ooooh I’ve never tried the caran dache pencils , they look gorgeous .😍everything in the haul looks fabulous 😊
Thanks so much, Jen! They are gorgeous! I highly recommend starting with a small set of 12, or even one or two you can blend together to see if you love them, too. Thank you, I'm enjoying most of these so much!!
I have had my prismacolors for over 25 years! Ready to try something new!
Thanks so much, Karen! I'm behind in answering comments, as we've been on vacation...but I so love reading all of them!!! The Luminance colored pencils are amazing. I will be comparing them to my Prismacolors soon to see if they are really worth the high price tag (for crafters who don't care about lightfast issues etc). If you are in a hurry to try them, start with a small set...you can blend them to make lots of shades. ;)
Hold onto to those lovely pencils, they are supposed to be great and not have the problems the newer prismacolors have!
Ugh opera pink is one of my favorite “weird” colors, I hate bright colors like opera pink on clothing so I thought I would hate it in watercolor, but the colors it makes with different colors like Naples yellow, it makes beautiful skin tones. Even with greens and blues, beautiful browns and purples that just pop on paper. Ugh I cannot express enough love for any pink opera!
You are so right! I didn't want to love it, because it's fugitive...but it's gorgeous, even for someone like me who doesn't really love pink!?! Thanks for sharing your favorite mixes!!! I would have never thought about mixing it with Naples yellow!
I’ve been on the fence about buying the 24 pan set of the Daniel smith watercolors and I decided to for it, cause of you! I just got them today. I’m so excited to use! Felt like Christmas Day!
Hope you enjoy it!! It's a great palette for mixing, and then you can change out the colorss down the line. Enjoy your new beautiful watercolors!
RendR paper is really good for Copics. The paper is thin-ish, but in my own trials it does not bleed at all. The downside is that it's a little on the expensive side, but you might be able to get some samples at your local art supply store.
Thanks so much for the recommendation. I usually use Neenah Solar White cardstock for Copic coloring, but was hoping to find a notebook to color in. I will check out that brand for sure. Thanks!!
Lucky you I’ve just bought the DANIEL SMITH -Jean Haines Watercolour set for $93 here in Australia 😬 looking forward to trying them 🤞🏼hope the are up to the hype.
Thanks! I've read a lot of people from Australia have to pay a lot more to get art supplies, sadly. I hope you love the Daniel Smith watercolors! I think you picked a good set to try. That set is now $70 here...Personally, I think some colors are worth the hype. Three of the colors I would have put in that category you have now...Green Apatite Genuine, Cascade Green and Moonglow. There are a few more, but you could try to mix them with your local paints first. ;D
For the money, some of the colors would be close enough in the watercolor brand that is most affordable for you. If I were in your shoes, I would only try the special colors not available in other brands after the Jean Haines set. Enjoy your new watercolors!! ;)
The Daniel Smith colors are all very pretty especially the shimmer set. Awesome haul as always!!:)
Thanks so much, Sintang! They are pretty, but so far I like my Finetecs more?!? I should have researched more before purchasing... Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Thanks Stephanie for always sharing all ur great hauls! I’d love to know what you think of the Daniel smith shimmer paints? Liz😊👍🏼
Thanks so much, Elizabeth! I'm going to be testing them out more soon. But, my first impression was they didn't blow me away, to be honest?!? I had higher expectations... Thanks so much for all your comments!
Thank you for the review! I’ve been eying on the Raphael travel set for a long time as I don’t have any travel brushes and I’m thinking of get some. Its very difficult to find review videos of them on UA-cam. I’m just wondering how comfortable it is to paint with them? Are they too mini? Would you recommend them after using them? Thank you!
You are welcome! They might be ok for some people, but they are too short for me personally. So, I can't recommend them. I've been using them for blending Zest It oil for my colored pencils...but they aren't my favorite for that either. I want to try the Escoda travel brushes soon. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching.
@@TheGypsyChic1 Thank you for your reply. Looking forward to more of your videos :-)
Great Haul! You seem to be interested in the same products/style, so I’m wondering if you’ve read Modern Watercolor botanicals by Sarah Simon? I purchased it after debating for awhile, Debby Hughes had mentioned it in one of her blogs. I can honestly say it’s taught me so much more than I thought I needed to know! I hate to purchase a book that didn’t inspire me, or give me any new information, and I was pleasantly surprised with Modern Watercolor! Just a recommendation, check it out on Amazon. TFS!!
Hey Megan, thanks!! Thanks for the recommendation! Ha-I've had that book in my Amazon cart for a long time! I've collected too many art books and they are hit or miss for me. I will definitely give it a go now, thanks!!!
Is there a difference between the tubes and the pans?
Daniel Smith uses the same formula to make their watercolors in tubes, and pans. So there is not a difference, except some colors can be harder to rewet once you put them in a pan. I notice it most from colors like Potter's Pink, and some Primatek colors. I don't remember any of the Primatek colors available in the Colors of Inspiration being difficult to rewet. Not all colors from the DS line are available in pan form, and perhaps they are not offering the hard to wet colors in pan form.
@@TheGypsyChic1 ahhh thank you!!
Don’t you hate it when you a book cover isn’t in the actual book 🤦🏽♀️ . Totally deceptive !
Totally! Boo... TFW
Ahh, Luminance pencils....been thinking about them for a long time. I always buy full sets....but I just I can’t justify buying these when I already have so many colored pencils, and it being a medium I rarely ever even use. I just got that Jeans Haines set, I only had Opera Pink. Love the Azo yellow and the red gold...and undersea green and lunar blue. It’s a great set. I was going to get the sparkly ones...but after watching Haines’ video on them, I decided not to. In her demo video, the consistency of the paints, and their spread ability seemed lacking.
I hear you on the fountain pen thing....I want one, and I think the Twsbi Eco is a good choice, based on all my research - but I’m cautious about buying one because of all the inks. I’ll buy the pen, and next thing you know I will 10 more pens and have 245 bottles of ink. So not going there right now.
I can’t remember if I have tried Bee Paper. I think maybe I did. I didn’t hate it, but I must not have liked it enough to repurchase. Yesterday I got my new Etchr WC journals in the mail, I got the bundle of 3 different sizes, small, medium, and large ( think the large is around 8x10) in cold press for $81. After so much research, and a big ole pile of journals bought over the years that just didn’t turn out to be what I was looking for, I am so happy!!! Beautiful paper.
Thank you so much for your comment! Ahhh, I don't have any real life friends who love art supplies/craft supplies etc...it is so nice to meet people who share the same passion as I do!
I love the Luminance pencils, they are my favorite! I started with the small set and went immediately to get the full set. I don't use colored pencils as often, because it seems so time consuming. But, honestly I can get the same results with other pencils, and I still use other brands with the Luminance for fine detail.
I love still love the Jean Haines palette! I wanted the small tubes of Assie Gold and Undersea Green, since they are lovely but I don't think I will use them as often as other favorite colors. I have only played with sparkly set once, but it is one of few my DS regrets so far.
Yes, you made the right choice! Pens and inks are so fun, but now I'm addicted to pens and inks too. TWSBI is my favorite affordable fountain pen, and I have to make sure not to spend much time in the Goulet Facebook group or I lust after more pens and inks. Lol I've had a few requests for videos on pens and inks, so I plan on making them after we are settled in our new home. You may not want to watch that video, lol! But, I will try to give the pros and cons.
I still love Arches paper best, but the Bee Paper is my favorite affordable paper. It has been out of stock forever now though, so I might have to find another affordable brand for practice work. I would love to try an Etchr WC journal, they seem so pricey. Thanks for the recommendation, I will have to put it higher on my wish list!! ;)
Stephanie Davis I don’t think the price on the Etchr journals is so bad. $81 for three?? A small, medium, and a very large size. 56 pages in each, with both front and back of the pages usable. Very well made. I believe it was free (and fast) shipping too. And the paper is nice. Great texture, Really thick, barely any warping at all. I also just picked up Aqua Stonehenge blocks recently, and they are great, except for the hot press, too smooth for me. I pass along what I don’t like to my niece....but the cold press is just as nice as the higher end brands....only thing is, they aren’t much less than Arches or Artistico. For practice, I do like to use better paper, but one good inexpensive one is Strathmore 500 cold press, or W&N in the pads, not blocks. The Strathmore, I’m not sure if it comes in pads or blocks, I usually buy the packs of loose sheets, I believe in a 5x7 size. And if you buy Arches in pads instead of blocks, it’s very inexpensive. Around $15 for a large size pad. I will probably have to give the Bee paper another try - or a first try - because I honestly can’t remember if I ever bought it! My favorite recent find are the Casaneo synthetic quill brushes by Da Vinci. OMG, they are the best...and no critters had to die for them. Etchr is a vegan brand as well.
Eventually I will get those luminance pencils. Why not? It will be good to have them, even though I really have no patience for the colored pencil techniques. Too time consuming. Fountain pen, yeah, sooner or later. I am also eyeing the full set of Derwent Graphitint. I have the small set, used them all up.....
Right now I’m waiting on the delivery of Daniel Smith 12 pan set, has the 12 “Inspiration” colors (6 of which I have) and then 12 empty pans. I am so out of control right now - but then I will go 6 months without buying anything, so it’s all good.
Wow, $30 is CHEAP for a fountain pen, the cheapest Lamy pen in Australia is $40...
Yes, I find it a very fair price for such a quality pen with no extra cartridges needed. I do like my Lamy's as well, but when I go to use them a few months later, they don't write again straight away. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. ;)
I hope all can buy stuffs to make art🥺 i dont have any money at all😭
You can make art with anything, even crayola, or free watercolor dot cards! I highly recommend going to the library and checking out the book Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover. That is what we used to get where I can splurge now :)
