I agree. Darker skin tones arent that desaturated. They're much more reddish than people like to draw. (Trust me it took a while to figure it out myself lol)
I actually had a real good experience with someone helping me "fix" my art I followed them and they followed me. They asked if it was okay to help slightly redraw a piece I made that way I could improve my art even more. They were super respectful and gave good advice. And in the long run my art improved thanks to them. We need more "art fixers" like that who just want to help fellow artists improve. Not completely redo everything out of spite or it doesn't match up with their preferences.
That's not actually the same type of "art fixing". Redlining was what it was called. When requested other artists used red line over your art to point out some anatomy or etc improvements
I would call that constructive criticism or feedback. Which yes, is important to be open to. It is however vastly different then walking up to say, the Mona lisa and then redesigning it and saying. "There I fixed your trash". Claiming that you knew better or it was just wrong. You don't teach or help at all this way. You just are an asshole. My girlfriend is an amazing artist, and I'm a (super lazy and unmotivated) natural talent. When she designs I point out things to help. Like lighting, shadows, or the most recent example stitch lines in skulls. I don't belittle her, or tell her it's bad. Rather point out things she could improve, or may have missed in the anatomy. Most of the time I only find things because she specifically asks for criticism. I don't just walk up and tell her something is wrong, or bad. I genuinely look to help improve the piece at her request.
Zee says its because they are spreading the message "don't sexualize women", which it can be argued they are pushing the notion that big black women are unattractive
@@ajinasawor but she only draws fat black women, which implies she believes they are ugly. Poc and big people need more representation, but not with that label. Besides, what if women WANT to dress like that and be represented like that? It could be hurtful to them who want representation
AO Jin wearing something revealing is not in any way sexualizing yourself, because it can make you feel confident depending on your style. that mindset you have there is fucked. if you're doing a suggestive pose, that's sexual. it literally implies it in the name. but wearing revealing clothes is not always. and how zee goes about "fixing" art is making the characters and people they're "fixing" fat and black. that's silently saying that fat and/or black people are unattractive, and is racist in of itself.
@@princesspinhead4516 "but so wat?" excuse me? not everyone is fine with their body being sexualized. if someone wears revealing clothing it does NOT always sexualize their body. that's just depending on someone's mindset, which mind you, if you sexualize someone just because they wear revealing clothes: you're disgusting. your body shouldn't be sexualized unless that was your intent. like how i stated before on how people wear that type of clothing to feel confident, it can accentuate their body more, which can boost someone's confidence. accentuate and sexualization is different. i have never voiced my opinion on this out loud so i'm not great at explaining, but do know that it is NOT always sexualizing your body.
“Marisa is the least sexualized character in the touhou roster” I mean, touhou characters aren’t really sexualized in the main games anyway. The creator of the games even says he hates fanservice. If you look at the main game’s character sprites (the ones drawn by Zun for the bullet hell games), they’re so completely non-sexualized it’s ridiculous. I just think it’s weird that Zee seems obsessed with turning characters into PoC yet doesn’t realize that most anime characters (and touhou characters) aren’t even white to begin with...
>Marisa is the least sexualized character in the touhou roster That's a funnier joke than the guy who fell for a $3 Aya listing only to be hit with shipping fees jacking her up to $487
Not only is “fixing art” just wrong on its own but Zee is also drawing gross stereotypes of POC. They don’t understand how to properly paint black skin which makes the characters look lifeless and dull. And they’re not actually changing the features of these characters to make them appear more black such as the nose, lips, skull shape etc. Zee is actually CONTRIBUTING to stereotypic portrayals of POC in the art world. And their version of making someone heavier isn’t anatomically correct at all, it only makes the characters look like a blob, furthering the idea that heavier individuals are unattractive. I think it’s important as artists not to internationally make characters unattractive but to actually do the opposite, especially for underrepresented communities in art. Art informs the way people think, so if I am going to draw a heavier black woman im going to try to make her look as beautiful as she possibly can with all the features that she would have in real life.
True, it feels like the characters that they 'fix' are wearing blackface. And the thing about them drawing heavier people being anatomically incorrect is true as well tho art in anime style is rarely anatomically correct, however they shouldn't label this as fat acceptance because that's not it.
@@ashildrtheswift3028 Sadly, the racist cartoons look BETTER than her art. You know it's bad when your "representation" art makes bleak face look more appealing
Some people dont know how to properly paint or color black skin. I dont know how, I dont even know how to do caucasian skin, I dont like using color in my art anywho. Black and white for me hehe
I feel like it’s also worth noting that the creator of Touhou, ZUN, hasn’t sexualized any of his characters. It’s mostly the fandom being... itself. sincerely a touhou fan
I'm black and I feel a little offended how their color palette is just straight BLACK pitch black not brown, dark brown, etc. Ty for standing up for this man good on you!n
it is also very racist because most straight black skin are a kinda minority in the black community, where mostly in Equatorial Africa. This is very straightforward stereotype. There are various hues such as Tanned, golden-brown, dark brown, etc.
hey, question. this is unrelated but is it ok to have “warmness” to the persons knuckles and fingerprints and stuff? -from a kid trying to improve their art
@@keimosgd I don't see why not. I'm from a mexican town, and many of people's hands have that description, besides the fingertips. Even my hands have that. It could technically be considered an art style, similar to how people darken the noses on some drawings. I tend to do it as well.
If you pay attention to how dark skinned artists (emphasize on the s) and the media in general draw/depict dark skinned characters/people or literally themsleves in a not hyper realistic art style you’d know it’s a stylistic choice. The dark skinned characters in The Boondocks, Kipo, She-ra, AND the owl house (granted in toh they are witches) all didn’t include lighter palms and it’s not just shows. It’s not that uncommon for individual artists to not include it as well like Swan Creates and Hotea. Even Swoozie who hires his artists doesn’t have them Include lighter palms. It’s just a style thing, you either do or you don’t. Some people do and others don’t. Some might not know, but it doesn’t chance the fact it’s just as notable as if someone decided to include beauty marks, nails, knuckle creases, lip, tan lines, wrinkles, eyelid folds, and/or all 5 fingers (on an “able bodied” character) Reality ≠ Cartoony Art
A piece of art depicting a skinny Japanese girl is not fatphobic, nor does the artist have something against POCs. That's like going up to a straight couple and telling them to not be homophobic. What the hell Also if you want to represent POCs or plus size people in your drawings, the least you could do is not call it "fixing art" because it does not make it better in any way. "Fixing art" is correcting artistic problems in the work, usually WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE ORIGINAL ARTIST. Her work is just taking the character and making the skin tone ash gray and adding weight. It's really not a fix. The best thing to do is make your own art, because creativity is important.
I agree on everything you said but re-read your last sentence and ask yourself why they prefers changing other people's work to fit their own ideology instead of actually making something original

I feel like when they "desexualize" these characters and make them black and fat, I feel like they're saying that its not attractive and its "ugly" and it just makes me mad and sad
Okay, so a legitimate criticism on Zee's art, apart from the whole "fixing", their linework is sloppy, their shadows are also quite lacking cause you can't tell where the light source is. It's like they just see a character and tries to "fix" them but doesn't even bother to put in effort to make sure their work at the very least looks polished.
hahaha, lol i agree. god even my little sister redrew an anime character with good coloring on a piece of paper. tho she can onlg do that with references

Marisa’s real art makes her appear to be a child (or at least a loli) so if Zee felt the need to “fix” Marisa they clearly thought there was something sexual in her design. Which is creepy as hell.
The image he showed was not official art, so don't use it as a reference. ZUN, the original creator,'s artstyle is... let's call it 'amateurish'. A common joke is that for drawing hands, he imagines a water balloon with sausages poking out from it. One of the characters is commonly depicted as having a striped dress. ZUN revealed later that her dress doesn't have stripes, he was just bad at depicting the way light hit the skirt as it fluttered in the breeze. With Touhou, any and all sexualization, personality, and legibility of image are due to fan artists being better than the original creator.

I think its just the original owner who started this and ending it pretending to be the hacker. The ""fixed"" art has similar line colors and thickness as the hacked art. The simple coloring is also very similar. Not only that but their typing style and how they post is nearly the same joking manner, format, and lower case. I just think it was a joke all along and once it got popular, they flipped the boat. I also have suspicions Zee themselves doesn't actually exist, and is just some made up person, but that is just one of my suspicions.
You know, after watching a UA-cam video about a white college student pretending to be a sex-trafficked Asian woman with AIDs on Tumblr, I began to question if Zee was a white girl of college-age masquerading as a minority for internet points. It sounds silly, however, it doesn't sound that out of the ordinary for someone to make up a fake identity for clout.
The reason most anime characters are at very the least, thin and fit is because Japan has one of the most healthy people in the world aside from working themselves to death
Or maybe (hear me out) making plus sized anime characters won’t garner that much fans/audiences because they don’t look that attractive, compared to being thin and fit. Look at One Piece for example, the fat/big characters are usually depicted as a baddie.

Using sexual pictures as a ""punishment"", using porn to humiliate people who have done wrong... really reveals how these people view sex. Sexual things should be pleasant and consensual. It shows that these people view sexual things as violent--something they can weaponize to hurt people. That's not a healthy mindset to have about sex. That's the main problem. A healthy mind does not view sex as something you use to hurt people. You don't even have to respect or like someone, it's just about not viewing sex as a weapon.

Same. The porn artwork of her was unnecessary and vile. Especially because her avi has a hijab on. It's a form of mockery to Islam and it doesn't sit right with me at all. These people that applaud the hackers and made those hentai artworks honestly sit at the same table as Zee, as far as being low goes.
My thoughts: 1. It's one thing to draw a fictional character you like sexy out of love... but drawing a real person in a sexual context to *demean* them or to get back at them sounds like revenge porn and it's insanely gross. Don't use sexuality/porn to take revenge on people, it's gross. 2. Hijab is symbol of modesty in Islam, so drawing hijab in a sexual way is insulting to muslims. Literally hijabis don't want to be sexualized. Stop it.
I wear a hijab because my modesty protects me from being sexualized, but the hacker's posts make me vomit. It's the literal opposite of the meaning of a hijab. It's like seeing a nun be sexualized. Its against what they stand for.
Feels kinda shitty to do shit like this. "Good job hacker! I was about to harass this person by sending them unsolicited gore porn to them! But you beat me to it by havking their account, good job you decent citizen!" just kinda tells you a lot about the people who are so happy about this. Now I don't like the original artist, but still. Gotta admit the hackers and people cheering it on aren't good folks either lmao.
I 100% agree, it’s disgusting that someone making porn art of a female presenting person in a hijab is being considered “heroic”. I don’t like this artist, but they didn’t deserve to have this happen to them, no one does. It also just shows how predatory the people celebrating this hacker are.
Yeah, I would have preferred that they left on their own or leave their toxic behavior behind and instead make original art and characters, shitty or not, the quality of their art doesn't matter in this context.
"Everyone deserves some basic fundamental respect, even if you disagree with them." That’s exactly right. It's so easy to lose track of the people on the other side of your screen, but we need to remember to be accountable for how interact with other people, because our interactions matter. I may not have agreed with everything Zee did, but they don't deserve this.
The redrawing of the touhou character looks like she's wearing blackface. I'm not trying to be abrasive here but the redesign is awful. There are black characters you can take reference from to make your design look somewhat serious/ competent. The fact that the face looks like a matrioshka doll, the hair colour is still blonde despite this being a black character now and the lack of feet could very well be conscious design decisions. But to me it looks more like a lazy attempt at race flipping a character, so much so that she couldn't even be bothered making her look like the race she intended to change her to.
that is the most accurate description for the "fixed" art. this is why i do not use twitter at all...well, i dont use much social media to begin with, but still.

As a muslim girl who wears hijab, I felt disappointed towards both ZeenaFixArt and the Hacker. Both of them are bad. Her drawings also looks intentionally mean to be 'bad', don't you think so? As for the Hacker, I don't think the account was hacked in the first place. All of this was just a drama to make them have all of the attention. (at least that what I thought). But even if the Hacker is real or not, drawing hijab porn is truly disgusting. When I addressed the issue about hijab porn, people always said that "Well, this is internet, don't be a crybaby about it. There were many other worse things out there", "They don't draw you, but they draw this worse person who wears hijab so they put the hijab to make everyone know it was her and make fun of it", " If nun can get sexualized, why hijab can't?" and so on...

This is a perfect comment 👌

Some might not know, but it doesn’t chance the fact it’s just as notable as if someone decided to include beauty marks, nails, knuckle creases, lip, tan lines, wrinkles, eyelid folds, and/or all 5 fingers (on an “able bodied” character)

A piece of art depicting a skinny Japanese girl is not fatphobic, nor does the artist have something against POCs. That's like going up to a straight couple and telling them to not be homophobic. What the hell
Also if you want to represent POCs or plus size people in your drawings, the least you could do is not call it "fixing art" because it does not make it better in any way.

I 100% agree, it’s disgusting that someone making porn art of a female presenting person in a hijab is being considered “heroic”. I don’t like this artist, but they didn’t deserve to have this happen to them, no one does. It also just shows how predatory the people celebrating this hacker are.

Although I hate the artist for being a rude and oblivious asshole, the hacker wasn't exactly right either.

Thank you for this wonderful content, man! Your videos are awesome!! Keep it up!

I feel like they're a troll... I mean, Zeena claims that they're a lot of things many people hate and prejudice. Lgbtq+, black people, hijab wearing muslim, overweight people... I think they're just a troll looking for attention, and by doing those horrible stuff under the name of those labels, people can hate Zena more (thus getting more attention) AND put more hate on the community Zeena put on themself in...

Dinoboy Skittles that’s not how karma works. Karma is the energy you put out into the universe and it always comes back to you times three. So hoping something bad happens to someone just because they annoy you? That comes back on you, not them.
Hydreigon No, Zee has internalized a lot of racism and sexism, so they believe that this is “helping” others. That’s miseducation not batshit crazy. Batshit crazy is hacking into someone’s account and taking the time to make gross art of that portrays a woman in a spiritual head covering in sexually degrading way. That’s disgusting.

This is why I love your videos, you’re very level headed and respectful when approaching these topics. What this artist did was messed up either way, but this is wrong to go this level. It’s one thing to show their hypocrisy with the blocked things. But to do this? It’s kinda pathetic. I’m not Muslim, but you made a very valid point about how this is religious discrimination. It actually makes me think about how nuns or rather their wear get overly sexualized in a lot of NSFW stuff.
I’m actually curious about people who are religious their thoughts on this.
I wonder if someone paid for an artist to draw these things, I doubt it’s Zee, unless it is and this an attempt to try to get viral...
As a muslim girl who wears hijab, I felt disappointed towards both ZeenaFixArt and the Hacker. Both of them are bad.
Zeena seems suspicious for me since her bio was "Muslim on a Crusade" which seems unfitting. When I first look at her Twitter screenshot from my friends, I thought she was just a troll and trying hard to be a part of minorities (such as have darker skin, being a muslim and a part of LGBT).
Well, I have been on the internet for a long time. I know I couldn't stop anybody to do what they're doing but it doesn't change how sad and disgusted I feel. To whoever make sexualized hijabis, nuns or any other religious beliefs, you should know we never like to see our religion and modest identity being made as a plaything and arts like that.
Boi I need to rest from internet for a while. Sorry for writing a rant
@@gezz555 I feel you sister. I usually just scroll ahead and ignore this sort of things. But people should seriously stop normalizing this. Is blatant disrespect to the entire religious community.

I've heard of Zeena, did came across her acc a few times but as an artist myself, I wholly disagree with her philosophy of 'correcting' other peoples art. I mean, is ok to make a version/fanart of your own that is based off the character but what she's doing is just insulting and it completely turn me off.
To me, if you're giving any sort of attention to this sort they'll love it even more, doesn't matter if is negative or positive. Is better to ignore trolls and attention seekers. Better yet just block them.
