this is the demo i needed, 1x12 k120 with the milkman amp looks like it will get me there. i got my wolf guitar and pedal board set up, one more piece to the puzzle and this helped me find it, much appreciated
I’m almost convinced on the milkman. Although it’s hard to pass up the fender twin reverb but prices are so stupid right now. What speakers are those. Jbl which?
@@mikekennedy5785 thanks for the quick reply. You have any thoughts on the k120 to the e120? I’m about to build a 2x12 cab and as I understand it he would be have both k and e.
@@ianandkimmaness4465 I'm not sure what you mean. I only use Ks because I believe they Es are heavier and the high wattage is unnecessary for most situations. The Ks would typically break up a lot sooner too, but I'm no expert
@@ianandkimmaness4465 if you mean Jerry, he used D-120s, then K-120s, then E-120s as they started to make the K's and E's with higher wattage (and durability) ratings. The Ds were paper, the Ks were hemp. He needed the higher wattage as they played bigger gigs, obviously.
I know this is an old video but I just got the milkman. Are you running as a pedal or into the jbl cabinet? And I'm also chasing the jerry tone. I have a phred wolph on order and I can't wait to pair this with the wolph . And suggestions on settings ?
No that's the next on my list . Iv got it plugged into a little cheap speaking . But I play with headphones cuz the wife and kid . But when the wolph gets here I'm gonna make a single jbl cab like yours .
Hey Mike...that thing sounds great! I'm also a long time Garcia style player and I have the exact same SMS>MC50 rig, the speakers, a Wolf etc. But like most, I'm tired of lugging all this crap all over the place. I'm curious...is it loud enough and does it stay clean enough at higher volumes to actually use with a band? Or would it not cut it for that on it's own? Thanks!
Hi Kevin - Definitely has the clean you need. It was easily enough to play clean and loud last week at full band rehearsal. It's 50 watts with and 8 ohm and 100 with 4 ohm speaker. It's made for cleans as the founder of Milkman is a pedal steel player. Doesn't break up until the (pre) volume is halfway, but the master can be cranked. It's similar to a Twin Reverb, though less powerful because it used Class D power

Very happy to hear you are fulfilled with Jerry goodness!!
@@mikekennedy5785 yes sir I'm 33 years old, and my dad had me listening to the dead as young as i can remember!
Thanks for making a couple of these videos. I think it sounds great. Nice playing to btw.

@@mikekennedy5785 thanks. Yeah I read that he used a mixture of JBL E120 and K120’s for his signature tone. Sound good. All that high end.

Directly into cabinet. Treble 100%, Bass 0-10%. Middle pickup split. Do you have a JBL D, K, or E 120? Makes a huge difference.

does it manage well at low volumes? like small apartment volumes lol.
Yes, handles low volume well. Very consistent volume control starting very low.
@@mikekennedy5785 could i get any breakup with the master way down and the gain (normal volume) cranked?
@@danielcarter3928 Sure
Thanks for getting back to me Mike. I just may have to get myself one of those sooner than later
Sounds great!
Are you still happy with this milkman amp? I’m tempted to get one as a practice/portable rig for Jerry tones through one of jbl’s.
Yes, it's perfect for that. The best option for the price/portability available in my opinion.

Great playing dude!
I’m sorry and maybe I’m wrong but that is not a Wolf. Maybe Rosebud, Tiger…?
Where did I mention a Wolf? I did have a Wolf that I've used in other videos, but not this one.
@@mikekennedy5785 my apologies Mike, I guess I thought Kevin was referring to your guitar as a Wolf. Great playing by the way.
SOUNDS VERY FLAT TO MY EAR, NEEDS SOME REVERB AND A BIT MORE TREBLE.
