John was too afraid to embrace Uncle because he knew Uncle could snap him like a tooth pick. Very few characters hide their power level as effectively as Uncle.
I'm in my 4th playthrough of RDR2 with over 750 hours in story mode (never touched online because story>online fight me irl) and for the very first time today, during very early chapter 3, I heard Bill Williamson sitting at the round table in camp talking about "Someday I'll run my own gang!" because Sean and I think John, we're making fun of him, laughing at him for being silly. Sean said "If I was in your gang, I'd never laugh again" and John said "It's no laughing matter" and it was all absolutely hilarious. Afterword I "greeted" Bill and Arthur said "So you're gonna run your own gang one day, huh?" and Bill said something like "Yes... One day..." That line hits different for an RDR1 original.
_"Take a gamble that love exists and do a loving act."_ - Sister, RDR2. What I love about the Sequel/Prequel is that we find out that some of the old gang may have been crooks, but they were also weren't all bad. Sean, Lenny, Mac, Charles, and of course, Arthur... we spent the first game hunting down the old gang without really knowing much about them. The sequel gave us a lot of time to see their best and worst, plus also showed us that most of John's best friends in that gang were already dead, including the man who was the closest he had to a brother. Giving your life so that someone else might live is a great theme of the series and shows how John and Arthur were trying to change, and had at least some principles in their hearts.
Interesting detail how Abigail, when asked how jack is, says "like you, like me" Pretty sure John never actually got to experience jack being like him. Than again, probably better that way.
It’s mentioned while John is at the ranch that Jack likes to sneak out on his own and do his own thing. He also fantasizes about the outlaw/gunslinger life too and obviously that’s worrying to Abigail because he grew up around that already and was trying to set him down a different path but like any other teenager he was acting out. And when the ranch got attacked and his father died you can only imagine his behavior only got worse and it seems like by the epilogue Jack had been out getting stronger and better with a gun because now he’s determined to be an outlaw to avenge John
I absolutely love this game. I know RDR2 is a really good game with amazing details and beautiful story, but THIS... this game has always been and always will be my favorite. The story is so good in it's own right and I have soooo many memories of playing the online (both base and undead nightmare) with my friends until the sun came up irl. God, do I miss the early 2010's. I know I won't ever have a time like that for games again...
Yea. I REALLY wish Rockstar remade RDR1 with better graphics and improved play mechanics lifted from RDR2. I know GTA is popular, but wasn’t RDR2 rated one of the best games of all time? There’s a whole group of people who never got to experience RDR1. It’s a bummer.
They were developing remasters for RDR1 and GTA 4. Their parent company TakeTwo got frustrated with them remastering after the response to the GTA Trilogy remaster. So all effort and resources are on GTA 6 now. The remasters for RDR1 and GTA 4 have been shelved but will happen.
John is such a sweetheart after his “shithead arc” in RDR2, and being a being a badass gunslinger in RDR, he gets lightly beaten up by Abigail and immediately folds. Then goes into dad mode when he see’s Jack. It’s a nice change of pace.
Abigail asks for Dutch, but not for Javier. She even asks for Bill... But again, not for Javier. Javier is a lot of things, most of them bad. But a man on Abigail's mind? No.

Its incredible the story they created whith such great space for a prequel that you wouldnt believe it wasnt all planned out. RDR is like the Star Wars of video games.
This is especially incredible after RDR2 to me because you got to see just how intense the trials and tribulations John and Abigail went through to get to this point. You saw how a charismatic leader gets a bunch of broken and mislead people to band together and do his bidding and their realization of that fact. You get to see the violence and direction the gang started in and the way they just didn’t feel right about it. Just incredible they’re able to portray this and more in a video game that we get to be a part of.
After beating Red Dead 2 which was and still is a masterpiece of a game. Read Dead 1 still holds up after 14 years and its fun to go back and play it to fill out the blanks also Uncle and Abigail's actors sound much better in Red Dead 1 than in 2 I thought.

It’s so hard to explain but the graphics and art style is so immersive and excellent for this game not only is it unique to the game but it gives it such a recognisable feel like it belongs, it’s like a movie and real life all blinded in one it’s so hard to explain but it’s one of the best
Wish there was a remake or remaster of this game for current consoles. The Red Dead Redemption games are my favorites of all time. The world feels alive, more so than any other game I've played, including the GTA series. The voice acting is superb in places. The story and narrative of redemption and the encroachment of civilization in the last days of the old west, while maybe over bloated sometimes, is really well done. The conclusion of each game along with how well they connect is also great. And of course the gameplay is great. Truly these games are a work of art, in my opinion. And I don't say that lightly. I'm pretty picky when it comes to videogames.
Hopefully you read this comment but the RDR1 remaster is NOT cancelled! If you read exactly what Rockstar said, they said they are not going to do further development on RDR1 and GTA4 remasters until after GTA6 releases. This means it IS coming!!! Just be patient! :)

Yo man ikr, that scene felt like I was back at the end of rdr2, finally seeing the house you built and your family again.
Imagine not seeing somebody for years and they come back looking like that
i don't think they got kidnapped for years.
More like a few months at most. Either way it’s still a dramatic change and can explain why Abigail is so shocked to see him and is wondering whether he reverted back to his old ways judging by his appearance
"Hold your excuses until you've figured out which one to use"
might be my favorite line from these games.
You really like the Reyes rebels outfit I can’t blame you it’s cool seeing John without his hat
They made uncle so much better for RDR2. Makes me kinda sad though, seeing him become even MORE old and grumpy
John’s death hits hard, but what really gets me is that he gets just a TASTE of the life he always wanted, before he gets murdered. Shit’s ROUGH
I swear hearing uncle's voice after playing RDR2 and not playing RDR1 for a while it's kind of a shock
2:35 i did my best... but i have lumbago
RDR2 just made Uncle’s return that much funnier
I love seeing how big Jack is in RDR
He’s even better in the epilogue. I just wish a grown Jack could’ve rode alongside his father or any of the other gang members. He looks badass but was given no story potential besides avenging John
@@josephstalin2606 Would have been hilarious if he showed up in one of the Mafia games still toting his six shooter and cowboy hat
@@screamingcactus1753 I could totally see low honor jack becoming a hitman for mobsters during prohibition.
They modelled Arthur’s jacket after jacks, you can make shift Jack marston by wearing Arthur’s jacket as John
Even before RDR2, this game just eats me alive knowing that John does does so soon after this. Even Abigail dies shortly afterwards. It's such a miserable feeling.
John Marston's got to be one of the best protagonists in a game. RIP to the GOAT
No
Arthur Morgan first then John
Arthur Morgan is better and the true GOAT
@@H00dner you never played og rdr or you wouldn’t be saying that. their stories and characters are both goat tiers and both do things better than the other.
@@Airfryer208 I played both, Arthur is the goat. Cry more
she looks so much like the mother from the waltons, if you never seen the show find it on some streaming pirate site, if you love red dead you will be addicted and bench watching the show once you get started on the first 3 episodes.
I remember watching that show with my grandparents when I was a kid, my favorite episode was the one where Jim Bob got into racing harley davidsons
@@jzimmerman284 have not got that far yet, still on season 4

Lol what
i like her design more in this game, she just looks odd to me in rdr2
Just don't try to get funny with her. We've seen what happened to the guard
John was too afraid to embrace Uncle because he knew Uncle could snap him like a tooth pick. Very few characters hide their power level as effectively as Uncle.
I love how uncle hasn’t changed a bit 😂
this game is special
It's the lumbago
One day..."
That line hits different for an RDR1 original.
we all know you aint man enough to kill me bill
Sean and Lenny
Rob Wiethoff's voice is one of the most fitting voices for a character in video game history
Interesting detail how Abigail, when asked how jack is, says "like you, like me"
Pretty sure John never actually got to experience jack being like him. Than again, probably better that way.
Angry, clever, persistent, that's jack
@@k7cryptic Damn. Would have really loved a remastered GTA IV.
@@M3TA763AR5071D GTA 4 and RDR 1 use RAGE, dummy, they'll never have DE level bugs and glitches, and the swing set is not even a glitch.
@@M3TA763AR5071D they removed half the soundtrack??
John is such a sweetheart after his “shithead arc” in RDR2, and being a being a badass gunslinger in RDR, he gets lightly beaten up by Abigail and immediately folds. Then goes into dad mode when he see’s Jack.
It’s a nice change of pace.
Abigail asks for Dutch, but not for Javier. She even asks for Bill... But again, not for Javier.
Javier is a lot of things, most of them bad. But a man on Abigail's mind? No.
John said she always thought he was a creep
Javier was near the same moral level as Arthur. Only major difference was Javier was loyal to Dutch
There's speculation that Jack is actually Javier's son
@@LordBlakeWhitehouse, that's a bold statement to make, considering we don't know of any good thing Javier for someone other than himself or his gang partners.
I amount of gang Ba**g we all did to your mother , Sure you can predict your own future
Rockstar had plenty of backstory to work on after the first RDR. So yeah, when John reminisces about "old times", now we know.
If rdr3 ever happens I want them to show EXACTLY what happened in Blackwater
Why didn't they make John this articulate and intelligent in the second game ?
Because RDR 2 is a prequel set in 1899.
RDR is set in 1911.
@@anthonyrivera2306 That’s not really an answer to his question.
Rdr2 is set before this game. So in this game, rdr1, he's grown up experienced more things probably read some books etc
@@boomshine87 talking about epilogue John .it's set like 4 years before first Red dead.his vocabulary could have been better even if he wasn't as wise .
@@chandrakantkothari9694 idk its a game so yeah.
“Some men are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives”
Only if game ended here it would have been a perfect ending
I like how you picked the outfit undead john is wearing on the cover and when he climbs out his grave
I loved this scene because after you played rdr2 and play rdr1 you’re seeing your house you built in rdr2 and your family, and it feels like you’re back at the end of rdr2
I still like Uncle's original voice a lot better, it suits him more.
Yeah but some things can't be helped sadly
Well, you can't bring the dead back.
@@gabrielmartines3510 Uncles actor from rdr1 didn’t die he was just unavailable for rdr2. The actor they replaced him with passed away before rdr2 came out tho
This is the ending to RDR1 in my head 🙂
after playing rdr2 and knowing the relationship between these characters really improves cutscenes like this where they talk about their old gang
Definitely like Uncle's writing better in RDR2, way more lovable in that game
After beating Red Dead 2 which was and still is a masterpiece of a game. Read Dead 1 still holds up after 14 years and its fun to go back and play it to fill out the blanks also Uncle and Abigail's actors sound much better in Red Dead 1 than in 2 I thought.
Beautifully written and acted. No other games even got CLOSE to this level.
I will definitely use "Hold your excuses until you know which to use"
“Why don’t I gets a warm and tender embrace?”
“Because I don’t want to aggravate your lumbago.”
This is as iconic as when Arthur said "this is my Red Dead Redemption too"
Im surprised uncle didn't blame lumbago
Imagine my shock, horror and disgust seeing fucking uncle is still alive while I'm here in Epilogue part 2 keeping him comfortable in what should be his final few months.
the one thing i feel really bad is about Uncle’s behaviour from 1899 he literally becomes a grumpy old man almost depressed ,time finally made him like this, at least a couple years back he was still lazy sure but he was deffo a lot happier and a more engage attitude towards life
"Abigail... I hope you learned to cook." That cracked me up
It’s so hard to explain but the graphics and art style is so immersive and excellent for this game not only is it unique to the game but it gives it such a recognisable feel like it belongs, it’s like a movie and real life all blinded in one it’s so hard to explain but it’s one of the best
Hope they do, I'd really love to play it but sadly no backwards compatibility. :( I might look into the emulators for PC
It’s on Xbox
oh boy I bet you are dissapointed with recent events then lmao

Hard to believe in only 3 years RDR2 will be as old as RDR1 was by the time RDR2 was released
"Some people are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain't nothing fair. You know that." I know John, I know.
"we tried to change, I mean, ain't that what you're supposed to do?" - Abigail Marston
Lol I love how John asks Abigail if she learned to cook like he's delivering bad news 😆
I could never get over Uncle’s voice after playing the second game
Makes me smile when Uncle complains about not getting a warm tender embrace.
I freaking LOVE the endearing father-and-son moments in this game between John and Jack! Nothing like seeing a man love his own!
I feel the same way about Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul too.
And what's interesting that's breaking bad creator Vince Gilligan has describe the show as neo western, a modern day version of Western.
@@Yaxxer4 exactly.

“Bill I’ve come for you” I literally got goosebumps hearing that after finishing RDR2
Hopefully you read this comment but the RDR1 remaster is NOT cancelled! If you read exactly what Rockstar said, they said they are not going to do further development on RDR1 and GTA4 remasters until after GTA6 releases. This means it IS coming!!! Just be patient! :)

Rdr will forever be better than any GTA for me. The seriousness and the cold realism is just it.
I just wish we could customize our horses in west cost costums. Imagine a bulletproof horse.
After i played rdr2 I played the original it made a lot more sense than playing the first one then the second
My favorite part was when John said “Its Red Deadin time” then red deaded everyone. Then he envisioned Arthur giving him a nod of approval and saying “That was some rootin tootin red deadin little brother” and they rode off into the sunset to Tahiti
my favorite part of the whole game is when Bill said, "Send me the bill" before getting loaded with bullets
Mine is when Ross says John died because of the life he had and Jack replies "You don't give Jack shit" before blasting him to the North Pole with an RPG
