Over 7 minutes to say you want a bigger bike.
@@Vulcan_Tech I guess first hand knowledge is best.
🤣😅😅
Actually it was less than 5 minutes
I'm totally happy with my 1300.. Coming from a Hayabusa, ivve been 200mph.. Don't wanna go back.. I'm happy in the slower world of not having to dust state troopers because I made a mistake...
I have a busa ,now I want a sec bike it was between this , the new model
I hate videos when someone talks through the whole thing but never actually says anything.
Yeah heavy click bait vibes for sure.
a trick : you can watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Lee Ford Yup, been watching on Flixzone for since november myself :)
He said plenty. Maybe you could show us how you would do it better.
@@russelldevane5434 plenty of what? Did you perceive something of worth in that diatribe the rest of us missed? apart from the fact he gets a boner over 1800s I didnt catch one worthwhile thing
The real reason they posted the video:
They have one 1300 and 10 1800's they cant sell lol
Cory Lane i think you’re looking for any excuse to make yourself feel better about your low powered cruiser!
Who can’t sell 1800’s they sell themselves.
The 1300's sound better than the 1800, the 1800 has flaws with the motor because it is designed different. I had an 06 and I loved the bike, 2 up on the bike and put 2500 miles on it in one trip loved it. Unfortunately later that year a drunk driver ran us off the road and killed my girlfriend the was on the back
@@danielfinney4295 damn man, sorry for your loss.
@@giarc0 thank you
Stupid reason.Obviosly 1800 will be quicker and will have more torque. It will be heavier and will drink more.People buy whatever they want.1300 is great looking and sounding bike, enough of power for most of riders.
The fuel-injected 1800 will get lower mpg than the carbureted 1300? I'm getting a VTX 1300 today and don't expect better than 35 mpg.
"enough power" LOL bahahahaha A Ninja 250 beat it to 60 mph and around turns! Just for kicks, the 1800 is almost 2.5 seconds faster to 60 mph than the 1300.
The 1800 is a great bike for someone coming over from sport bikes. The power is similar to a 600. But the torque is what makes me happy. Only thing I miss about sport bikes are the turns. But I’ll tell you what. A cop don’t bat an eye at me when I speed on the cruiser. On the sport bike you’re pulled over just for being on it.
KoKo Beatz I can attest to that!
I am the proud owner of an 1800. I've owned it for almost ten years and am loving it! It handles well and is also the first bike I've owned that was fuel injected. Makes a big difference.
I test rode a VTX 1800 and at 5'9", it was a bit much for me...
I love my 02 vtx 1800s. 1k$ and a little tlc. Very powerful
You guys are crazy for riding them bikes!
2 years and 4 months later I still love my 2004 vtx1300c thanks Sean your test drive videos helped in my decision in getting this over a sportster.
Like they say...
Half the price and twice as nice.
I got my 2007 Honda vtx1300c and my buddy got a harley-davidson sportster 1200c 2 years ago and let's just say the motorcycle jack stays at his house I never need it
Had my 2004/VTX 1300 since '05, 78K miles. Easily maintained, good on gas, handles awesome. Awesome power and pickup. I should make a video titled "Why not to listen to this guy!"
The 1300 has a much better sound due to the single pin crank & handles a bit better.
You're the only one in the comments that knows this. It took me forever to find out that the 1300 is different, because it's actually really hard to find the information. I had to google for hours until the light bulb clicked, because the reviews never mention it. It doesn't really matter how awful the single crank pin is, and it is awful because there's no way to balance it, because it's neither 90 degrees, no 0 degrees, it's just a totally random firing order that causes the engine to shake violently from the front to the back of the bike, which shakes the bars and tires from front to back. But as it turns out, Honda put a counterbalance shaft to counteract that vibration and put an enormous HEAVY crankshaft in it, to quell the vibration further. Front to back vibration isn't actually bad, because it only really causes a problem if the bike is not moving, according to FortNine who made a video called "Why millions of people ride Harley Davidsons." He says the front to back vibration goes away when you're moving, because it's added into the motion of the motorcycle. Clearly Honda and Suzuki are not as brave as Harley or Indian, because they refused to use the single crank pin on their VTX1800 and Suzuki Boulevard 1800.
Own this bike and I love how you can hear the speedometer plastic window buzzing even on this bike too. I guess they all do it. It’s annoying.
ik this ones old but dese videos are really good nd have helped me decide wat i want thx you keep grinding man u to my subscription
First off, if you are after "speed" why would you buy a "cruiser"? Doy. I can do 120 MPH on my VTX 1300. Will it get to that speed as fast as a Decati will? No. But why would we compare a Vette (Ducati) to a LIncoln Continental (VTX 1300 or 1800)? It's plenty fast and gets me up to 60 mph faster than any car will and it gets 45 MPG on highway driving where my care gets 21 MPG. Nuf said.
Jeffrey Cranston I have hit pavement at 50+ mph...twice. Once with sand on a curve..the other when broad sided by a deer in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Fast enough. They both hurt so a cruiser is more than fast enough for me.
Sorry brother but 1300 doesn't compare one bit with the 1800 nuff said
Because unless you're going on curvy road, a powerful cruiser is fine. Maybe you just want to drag race. Who knows. Why does Hoss Boss exist? Nobody needs 400+ HP on a motorcycle, but they are basically drag racing bikes. If you can afford it, sure, why not?
I pegged the speedo needle at 130 and it kept picking up speed. just once though. life is fast enough.
Because the 1800 is a much better bike. Buy the bike that kicks ass or buy the bike that sounds harley ish. Dont be a lemming who has to sound harley ish. If you need that, just buy the Harley, and their T shirts, and matching underwear, and the bubble bath, and the condoms, and the tv dinners.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's the best one I've heard thus far!!
😂😂😂
Love that they put a video on why this is the best bike
Have 80K+ miles on a 2004. The real problem is that....like all shaft drive motorcycles...there's an almost 30% power transfer lost. That makes it 'slower' than any belt or chain drive 1300. Other than that, have had no problems whatsoever!
4:17 I couldn't disagree with you more on this one! The VTX1800 is a "Top Heavy Pig" and it's Dual Crankpin engine design is the WORST sounding V-Twin I've ever heard, bar none. One might as well muffle it to death because they sound so bad. They're also a pigs on fuel.
By way of contrast, the sweet cadence of the Single Crankpin VTX1300 is a pleasure to the ears and it gets pretty exceptional gas mileage. I rode a 2004 VTX1300s for 12 years with ZERO issues and loved it (as does the current owner who purchased it from me). I test rode a VTX1300 three times before purchasing with different loads on it each time and it excelled under all conditions. I did spring for the genuine, and expensive, Hondaline Windshield as it was SO effective. No buffeting at all, even without Lowers, and I attribute that to the two holes in the windshield behind the accessory driving lights. Those holes seemed to equalize the pressure zones in front of and behind the windshield. My beard just barely fluttered on that amazing machine at any speed. That windshield also looks great. Even the Honda reps (met them 3 times) conducting the demo rides concurred that the VTX1300 was "The Best Cruiser" Honda had ever produced. Stupidly, they dumped the VTX series and came out with the Stateline and Fury. Everybody hated them. Now Honda is completely toast in the Cruiser market. Serves them right!
Unfortunately, my wife talked me into getting a Goldwing in 2016. Got an amazing deal on a "like new" 2009 fully loaded Wing with just over 20,000 miles on it, with AirBag and all. Yeah it's O.K. for touring and is pretty nicely balanced for a 900+ pound machine but REALLY, it's a car on two wheels, not a genuine motorcycle. For some fun, I picked up a 2017 Honda CB1100EX. Now that thing is an absolute blast from the past whilst being totally modern as well. Love it!
Clayton Root ... 1st, *thank you!* 😎 Because of you & your "mods" I had several do-it-yourself meets with other VTX owners. It saved stealership $$ and got us wrenching on our own bikes in a comfortable manner. (Hat tip to others on VTXOA.)
2nd, yes, on the weight. In mid 2004 the 2005 R came out & was the 1st year of the Retro (aluminum wheels, prior was only the 'S' with full fenders & had "S"pokes). That's when I got my Retro. So many easy mods, so much fun.
3rd, the sound. Single pin crank IS a much better note & cadence. With V&H BigShots it just sounds amazing. If not them, Bubs was next best.
4th, the 1300 was less than the 1800 bikes because of several reasons (1800 was/is top heavy, eats more fuel, add pipes & have to buy a fuel cmdr vs cheap reject kit, the sound, same stock *clutch* so if you 'got on' the 1800 it would slip a little, ...).
There's a few other reasons for the 1300 over the 1800, but they've been covered.
Thanks again Clayton. You're a legend in the VTX world. 👍
I found the VTX series was made more for large and tall riders. I rode both the 1300 and 1800, and at 5'7" it was just too much bike to log around on. I bought a Triumph Bonneville T-100, and was much more happy. It "fit" me. The VTX's were both nice bikes, just a bit too large for me.
Glad you found a bike you like! The T-100s are cool bikes, and like they say "Ride your ride."
This is the first video I've ever seen without words of wisdom. But still great video. Absolutely love your videos. I have a 04 vtx1300c
My daughter loves hers. However, we watched this together, and she was pretty sure that "one reason not to buy one" would be the speedometer on the fuel tank. That has bugged her for a long time.
Sean is not into preparing ahead of time. Doesn’t know details or specs but “likes” every single bike he test rides.
The 1100 Shadow has the best power to weight I'm pretty sure.
Problem with the 1100 is it's only a 4 speed, plus it weighs pretty close to the 1300. I've had both and currently have a 1300, believe me, the 1100 doesn't hold a candle to the 1300 in terms of passing power and raw torque. The only thing I wish I had was a 6th gear, the torque is there for it.
I had an 1100 Shadow and now a 1300 VTX. The Shadow was plenty fast but needed another gear. The 1300 can cruise at a higher speed.
@@Dumbass_mechanic My 1100 has a 5 speed and tops out around 120 mph
My Shadow was chain drive and my 1st V-Twin. My 1300 is smoother, stronger and last bike I'll ever buy. It's my honey
i have an 06 vtx1300 and its a great bike, if you want that much power just get a sport bike, i bought mine for cruising not speed.
I have ridden both bikes and own a 2008 1800N. The 1300 is definitely lighter and sits lower in the seat. The 1800 has dual disc brakes in the front, inverted front forks. fuel injection and hydraulic clutch vs the 1300. I am 6'3" and just feel more comfortable on the bigger bike. The 1300 is easier to handle at slow speeds but the 1800 is fine once you get used to it. The 1800 feels solid and stable as semi's pass on the highway. The 1800 is a low end torque beast. 2 up riding is effortless however with a passenger the center of gravity changes heavily as the rider sits higher which is usual anyway but on the 1800 it definitely changes the dynamics on slow speed maneuvers with a passenger at first. You get used to it and works out fine. The 1800 just feels more solid to me than a 1300 when riding. Just my opinion. Best bike for the money on the used market. Easy to work on except for that back exhaust valve near the frame with my big hands. It takes me as long to adjust as all the others combined. Both bikes are very reliable and there are VTX tech sessions around by users (go to vtxcafe.com) to learn to work on your own. Replacing the cheap 1300 neck bearings is the first thing I would do. They look like cheap bicycle bearings vs tapered replacement bearings. The 1800 already has the tapered bearings. The choke (technically fuel enricher) on the 1300 should be used sparingly and only in cold weather and off when bike is warmed up. It will foul plugs quick. Warm weather you should never use it if the carb is tuned properly. A couple twists of the wrist is all you need to get it going before starting and idling fine. Most people over use the fuel enricher and foul the plugs on the 1300. Factory settings on the air fuel mixture is too lean from the factory from what I know from die hard 1300 owners who know how to set up the carbs on them. Probably emissions crap requirements out the box. Actually most take off the pair valve emmision crap and use block off plates. This also makes it easier to adjust the valves. The clutch can benefit from stiffer springs internally on both bikes as stock are a little soft. I also agree that an 1800 is not probably a good beginner bike. Both are great bikes! It is a cruiser and does the job great for me. A few people now have over 150k and still running strong. Two good sites to get more info on the VTX line. www.vtxcafe.com or www.badasschoppers.com.
Never forget Srk is a REAL man, because he's tall. Don't you ever forget that.
Have owned both. 1300 and 1800. 1300 motor is perfectly balanced. 1800 vibrates. 1300 is smoother
The handling on the 1300 is much better
The 1300 is a good strong bike for those who like heavy motorcycles but don't want to have to play the for the Harley name. The difference between the 1300 and 1800 is about $3,000 when you can get the 1300 for around 2 to 3 Grand when the 1800 comes in at 5 to 6. For 1300 has 74 horsepower and the 18 has 101 thes specs come from Honda.. it should go without being said if you do the little things on a Honda it will last you forever it's just about personal style between these two motorcycles I like my 1300 don't need the extra power. Has excellent power in the city and incredible cruising ability on the highway
The 1800 is a parallel twin. The crankshaft is staggered to make it putt-putt-putt, not ka-chumf like the single pin 1300. If your all-in-all is performance, the 1800 is for you.
Well, the number one reason to not buy one would be.....no money, right? So....pretty much everything after that would be secondary. Just giving you crap....you're a good dude, man of God....so a friend of mine indeed.
For a 5-foot 4 lady like me, the VTX 1300 is perfect! The only thing is I wish I could buy a 2022 model! But I'll stick with my 2006! :-)
Point of interest, you are talking about 500 more cc's, fuel injection electronic ignition. Yeah it's going to be faster. I've had an '06 VTX 1300 R My girl and a lot of friends have Harleys Road Kings, Ultra Glides, I can keep up and get past any of them, I'm 6' 330 lbs so it's my bike, like it better than the three Gold wings I've had in the past.
I have a 2015 VTX 1300 STATELINE i love it very dependable shaft drive water cooled but here it comes very slow speed turns heavy, no lean radius easy to drag foot pegs but thats it other wise wonderful bike
Currently have a 2002 1800 with 23k miles that I recently purchased for 3500$.
The bike is a sexy beast! She's quiet enough with the stick pipes to where I can have a normal level conversation with my wife while we're cruising along...but straight roars through the streets when you get on her. Definitely feels strong and well built like it will last forever if even remotely taken care of. Not trying to knock Harley's by any means because I definitely do like them...but I've never personally known anyone to hit 150k-200k miles without having major problem's at different points throughout it's life. So when people try telling me how I should have gotten a Harley, like my bike's somehow less-than because it's a Honda...I can't help but to laugh and roast their premature valve chatter and oil leaks at under 50k 🤷♂️.....
I guess I'm like Sean. I refused to settle for the 1300. Got the 1800 and imma have this bike for a looong time
Nice intro, glad to see you guys still can't edit properly after how many of these videos? And that wobble at 4:25 was god awful scary take that bike off the road
Joey? Is that you?
Just change the bearings to All Balls brand.
What exhaust does this bike have? I love the sound of it
I just love how you try to cover your mouth with the helmet on when you cough lol
Heads up the vtx 1800 is top heavy so it's gonna take a lot more strength to maneuver when idle so yea not sure if the 1300 is the same but I take it it may be alittle lighter
Some of us don't like going fast we just cruise
The 1800 doesn't have a shared crank pin for both rods which makes it sound much different than a 1300. I prefer the sound of the 1300.
3:48 you're welcome. (Only reason to not buy, is because the 1800 is FASTER)... ok..Obviously. How about weight? This isn't a review, it's an opinion. Sorry SRKcycles... Its just too much chit chat nonsense. I'm going to start avoiding your videos.
So don't buy the bike because it doesn't have as much power as the one that has a bigger engine? Sooo personal preference is why youre saying not to buy the bike? No wonder why you have more dislikes than likes. Maybe if there were mechanical issues or actual design issues but a video on personal interest.... one more dislike. Youre welcome.
would you recommend this to a beginner?
I’m in the exact situation you talked about lol. I have an 05 Suzuki Sv1000s and want something more comfortable and someone offered to trade for a 06 VTX 1300S kinda debating about it and decided to click your video!
The channel that made me buy another bike, another reason I purchased a 04 1300 👌1800 doesn’t sound as good lol
I miss my vtx 2005 1300cc best bike I ever own.
Just think if all the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers didn't intentionally de-tune these engines to make as little HP as Harleys.
Honda used to make 750-800cc bikes that made lots more power than these dogs. They also weighed a lot less.
Somehow, US buyers pushed for slow, lumpy engines and bloated, overweight chassis on their cruiser bikes and now you have a 1300 that's slow and porky.
I GOT A VTX 1300 2006 4K MILES ORIGINAL. IN 2019
Hi love my 1300 C. I actually own a 2000to 1800 R. It is quite heavy for me now. The 1300 is excellent
Love the videos brother. I am a new rider looking to purchase my first bike. Im 6'1 at 240 lbs. I really want the honda phantom, but worried its too small and I will grow out of it quickly. Do you recommend to start off with the VTX1300??? Thanks for the great info again!
Well... It's 2 years later, what did you get?
@@BudsCartoon first bike was a Yamaha 1100 cruiser. Then tried the sport bike life with a triumph speed triple. Finally, ended up with a Harley Softail Deluxe w/ apes.... I'm stopping at Harley. Nothing else like her :D
My old ass has a 2006 vtx c and it is just fine for me. Dress it up and it's killer
What's the difference between this bike and a Sabre 1300?
Bought mine in '05, told myself I would buy a Harley when it died on me. I now have 36k on it and still haven't bought a Harley.
1300 sounds way better.
yeah, that's a legit gripe. my shadow 750 is faster than my 1300 VTX.
Guessing at the beginning: the reason is the 1800 exists.
TLDR; It's a great cruiser. Doesn't go as fast as the 1800.
i have owned a vtx 1300r since 05, best bike ive ever had
I had an 02 1300r and it had over 100,000 miles on it and I sold it but not because it was giving me problems but because I had to .The only thing I did to it was rebuild the carb 1 time due to ethanol .Well other than changing oil, brakes , tires obviously ,,Oh and they were assembled in Ohio .
These things have regulator issues and the speedometer is always wrong
*high fives* Me too
I love my VTX
I've had a 2004 VTX 1300 for years and it's better than any Harley.
for every one who just doesn't understand this is a satire video. The vtx 1300 is a great bike. get over yourself
Talks a lot, but doesn't actually say anything.
i also get paid to do it
100% agree! oho should I add that there is actually more than 3 buttons lol
Yeah, I'm not going to wade through the whole thing to get to the clickbait. Here's a thumb's down for the video.

he aint talking about shit
05 VTX 1300R going strong here! 70,000 miles and hopefully 70,000 more! Regular maintenance and she loves to go!
I've got a 2005 VTX 1300 with over 100,000 Miles on it. Used it as a touring bike and muscle bike. Been having some issues lately but after 100k miles needs more maintenance than usual. Still tips like a monster and reliable is solid.
I ride my uncle's 05 1300. Thing has been all over America, nearly 150k miles now. In the past three years since I've been the primary rider, it has required 0 maintenance. Even being run low on oil basically its whole life (dipstick on kickstand instead of standing up). He says he doesn't trust it but man it holds up well so far at least, love that bike
I’ve got an ‘03 with 22,750 miles so 100k miles isn’t a concern yet, but is it hard to replace a motorcycle engine when that time comes?
Muscle bike? I guess the mighty VMAX should be worried?
I love my 05 vtx 1800r2 it has 70,000 miles on it and will easily go another 70,000. It’s customizable and will crush everything in its class
I sat on a 1800 after riding one of these and my legs felt spread apart and uncomfortable because the tank felt wider. So the 1300 felt better to me.
Honda's are great, reliable machines!
Word of caution... I have a friend that had a VTX 1800 and he's ridden bikes for years and years, and he said it almost got out from under him several times, to the point that he got rid of it. 1800's are not for beginners or even a step up from beginners... Very, very, experienced riders might consider an 1800. Same thing for Suzuki M109R's... Too much power for some people...
Just picked up an 1800s from a co-worker in near mint condition. Never even ridden in the rain, still has the stickers on the tank type condition. I agree, I still haven't pushed it as far as it will go. As long as you're not completely bogging it, any gear, it's on.
i went from an 1100 saber to an 1800. Had no issues. Ran the piss out of it. It got totaled from a kid hitting it at the gas station. Im on triumph rocket III roadster and it kind of scares me
I'm a beginner rider and I picked up an 1800 last month. There is definitely a learning curve to riding one. The biggest issue isn't the power, it's the weight. Tight corners at low speed can be tricky.
i have ridden sports bikes for 40 years I find my
m109 slow compared to bikes ive ridden your right the bikes a bit heavy around corners but It needs a bit more power
for yours truly a sprightly 60 year old
Nahh.. I started with the VTX1800 as my first bike and my first run ever on a bike. It's all about common sense and taking it easy and get your balance which you need on all bikes. Respect the bike and your own skills and you'll be just fine.
I have a vtx1300s very pleased with it. Over the years Iv owned many brands. The last 3 were new Harleys had the roadking the fatboy and street glide nice bike's. This time i wanted something that just turn the key and go owning a Harley is very expensive. This vtx is very all i need.
I just started my journey as a motorcycle rider and a VTX 1300 is the first one I came across that fit my 6’4” frame. As a newbie, I do wish it had a gear indicator to help me keep track better, but I love this bike! Maybe one day I’ll upgrade to an 1800, but I don’t see that happening for several years to say the least.
I like my 1800 vtx. I'm 5' 9" 150 lbs retired construction worker. I've owned 600 and 1100 shadows. The 1800 is by far the Cadillac so to speak.
1800, newbie rider, rides smooth, from what I've heard I was terrified but respect goes both ways and definitely respect the 1800 and I love it, it's just a bigger sound and 100% smoother ride
Hey man, If you don’t mind my ask how much did you weigh learning to ride it? I’m 6’4 too and I’ve been looking at it as my starter but i only weigh 160 so I don’t want it to be crazy zippy.
@@ashtonmiles4208 Get a Royal Enfield 650 interceptor. They are ultra cheap, and extremely reliable, not a crappy bike. Counterbalanced smooth motor and is the best looking motorcycle being made that isn't an expensive and very heavy cruiser. The Royal Enfield won't scrape pegs, or floorboards when you corner, and it's going to be about 150 pounds lighter so it's going to be much easier to move around. You can't really even push a 600 pound motorcycle, they feel like a bit chunk of solid lead. I am riding a Suzuki 1300 and I can barely push it, and it's 580 pounds, and I think a VTX is 75 pounds heavier. Seriously, if you have to park the VTX1300, you won't be able to move it once it's parked, it won't be going anywhere. Moving a 600 or 650 pound motorcycle when you're a beginner is just not safe. A 400 pound motorcycle feels light and nimble by comparison and you can actually push a 400 pound motorcycle if you run out of gas.
Gear indicator isn't something you'll look at after two years of riding. You'll learn the bike and your brain will know what gear you're in without you thinking about it
Well that is your opinion, I'm 5'6 and it fitme like a glove. K&n filter adjustable carb needles and free flow pipes can turn it into a little rocket. More fuel economy than the 1800 less heavy and more maneuverability. It's a matter of taste. 9 years with it and I won't change it. No way.
tl;dr You shouldn't get this bike because the 1800 is faster. That's some awful clickbait.
DarkKingBowser sold me lol.
In terms of accessibility, I'm sure the 1300 is fine. I've got a 750 Shadow which is smaller in engine size than the 1300, but I wouldn't mind a 1300 over my 750.
Bought my '07 VTX1300R new in 2008. It's a rock solid bike with about 45000 miles now. Always been dependable and just keeps on going.
I have to agree, that's why I got one, I thought the 1300 was absolutely perfect for me...for about 10 minutes, then I tried an 1800, it's a completely different bike, they look similar but there's a lot of differences, mainly: it's an 1800(hell yeah brother!), it's fuel injected, has a very cool braking assist(some like it, some don't, I think it works great), and THAT SOUND! IT's primal, visceral, it connects to that caveman brain, and says, "we make fire now!"
Does the 1800 sound good? You like the sound better?

Milwaukee 8 is the answer so nahhhh
Oh a Harley hater....how original lol
🤣🤣🤣🤘🤘🤘
Love my m8 107 fxbb.
I love them both but I will say from experience Honda’s have less problems
You will never buy a Honda VTX 1300 and wish you had more power… It’s an awesome bike with everything you need
Commenting without watching. Snap judgement...I owned a Soft Tail for a number of years. Nice bike. Some expensive but not serious repairs coupled with major depreciation and then needing a major top end job ... Sold it for $ 2,500.00. An 11K loss. Bought a beautiful VTX on the Spot for $2,500.00. Loaded. Hard bags. Full windshield. Fantastic performer and the ride is so comfortable. Again..I liked my FLSTC but the VTX S model is much more bike.
Note..I have many years (50), miles and bikes of various makes and models...this VTX rates as No. 1.
Hard to beat the 1300 VTX for what it is. Love mine....
@elliot dobson The best I've had on my 05 1300C was 52mpg - but I usually get 45.
@@worpd_gamer270 I used to get 45 until I fixed the carburetor up a little, now I'm about 38 ish, but you can't catch me!
@@Dumbass_mechanic I wouldn't mind adding more spunk (not that it NEEDS it) to my VTX. What did you do to the carb?
@@worpd_gamer270 decapitated the airbox, shimmed the needle, set the air fuel screw properly, and cut the diaphragm spring. K&n filter, straight pipes (cobra speedsters with the baffles taken out) . 205 65 15 Goodyear assurance tripletread car tire. I dont need an 1800.
@@Dumbass_mechanic I'll have to fiddle with my setup. I'm using same size Michelin Defender rear tire but the middle patch is starting to get to the wear bars from running at 40psi so it's about time to change it out. Was thinking of the Yokohama Envigor for the next tire - I've had no problems with the defender... just... want to try a different tire.
The 1800 is considerably heavier.
others have mentioned it but i want to reiterate...please replace the steering head bearings with tapered bearings (all balls). they are $30 on amazon and takes a novice 2-3 hours to replace. it would be very irresponsible to sell that motorcycle without fixing that death wobble. also if you put aftermarket pipes on that bike you need to remove the pair valve or it will backfire like crazy. i got a 2004 vtx1300s back in march, spent about $200 and a couple weekends in the garage getting her running perfect. everyone complains how heavy the 1300 is but i actually enjoy the extra weight since my commute is 50 miles of highway riding.
ddunlap86 Just bought a VTX. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the heads up. I'll take your advice. Death wobble is no joke, I almost missed one of my birthdays from a death wobble years ago.
I had this same issue an old 81 cb650... I am looking at upgrading to a 2006 vtx1300 soonish, comes with a bunch of extras too, Is it just the factory bearings that are not that great? The bike I am looking to buy has similar mileage as the one in this video... Should I be doing this as well?
710 Ibs is plenty heavy for this 1300 cc Roadbeast.
WHY??? Shouldn’t I buy the bike? Took you long enough to say that! Dirt cheap! Handles well! Powerful! Great to ride double! Cheap to maintain!💥 Why wouldn’t you want to buy it? Ahhhh NOW I see why you want that extra power! I can definitely hear that! LOVE THE ROAR 🦁 MAN!!!
Dear Honda, please build the VTX 1300 again. You could use the Fury engine. Thanks! Sincerely, VTX Fan 🤙
biggest draw back to my 1800 R is how heavy it is 800 lbs, but yeah the POWER is great. don't really use it for city riding. that's what the Magna is for
Whoa! I'd give my eye teeth for a Magna. I got the Venox in 2005 which was originally the VT250 Magna. They were a top seller in Asia and India.
The speedo looks like an old parking meter ..lmao..
Maybe the driver has Coronavisu????
I owned a 2004 VTX 1800 for 8 years. It was "Illusion Blue P44P also called Pearl Chromium Purple" and it was the best cruiser I ever owned.
I have the same bike/color '03.
I own an 1300R and l blow Harleys away. Love the bike.!!
I'm owned of these for bikes for 6 years
One of the best bikes I ever owned!!!
I ride with a friend that has a 5 year old Interstate 1300, the bike is drop dead gorgeous and fast enough!! I ride a HD , SGS and he gets more attention because a lot of people think it's a custom made bike. Honda hit it out of the park with the Fury, and Interstate; raked front ends, swooping gas tanks etc ...basically what we all used to do to our Harleys...its a chopper look that is low, dependable and comfortable, which none of my past HD choppers ever were lol
I been riding my Interstate 5 yrs w/my Harley buds and know exactly what you mean
Cool video. My 2005 VTX1300R (V&H pipes) with 26,000 miles rides today like it did brand new. So much so I've decided to keep it, although I just bought a 2012 Road King. The 1300R has been great. Apart from tires & fluids... it just kept on keeping on. AS for the VTX1800. After a few years driving the 1300 I got an extended loan of a VTX1800. It gave me a great opportunity to decide it wasn't worth it to upgrade. 99.9 per cent of the time (the way I drive) (moderately quick) the 1300R gives me everything the 1800 would. But the trade off is the 1800 is heavier, and you kind of end up lumbering along. I think that unless you're a real full throttle/flat out/need all the horses-and-then-some guy... stick with the 1300. Great bike, phenomenal value for the money. You can pick them up today for $4,000 or so, with often under 15,000 miles.
Guess he was influenced by "Satan" to make a shit video, where he basically complained the bike didn't have enough engine. (Conveniently forgot to cover the front end wobble issue)
Well, that's 7 minutes I'll never get back.
I'm thinking about getting one to go with my 1800N. Good strong power with gobs of torque. Love it.
I bought my VTX 1300, brand new in 07, and not a single mechanic issue, other than the standard, battery, breaks, tires. Great bike.
I bought my VTX 1300C in 2005 off the showroom floor with Strait Cobra pipes. With My body @ 5'9 @ 185lbs, my bike dropped into 4th gear on the HW can hurl me like a sling shot at any given point I wish with ease. I understand 1800cc would have more displacement, but I don't see it worth the extra cost.
Yep. Click bait. Not watching a 7 minute video. Tell us the reason up front. Love my vt 1300 cr stateline
I have to admit, I also thought this was going to be a clickbait, just like he said at the beginning. Now I think otherwise. Not only is this clickbait, but a very lame one at that.
1800 costs more for insurance and eats more gas. I'll stick with my black VTX1300w/ cobra pipes.
I've got Vance and Hines on mine with 18" apes on it. I absolutely love that bike. Catch a lot of heat from my Ride Harley or Die family, but it's completely worth it.
Really? Insurance jumps again at 1800cc? I have the VTX 1300. I love this motorcycle.
1300 for me cost like 75$ a year to insure. The 1800 was a little more. I think around 100 a year.
More for insurance? I pay $14 a month. Lmao! You're a square.
@@OctagonGladiator33 $14 a month.? You must be 81 Or just paying for liability only.. . And I'm the square? Lol🙄🤣
I wish there was an 1800 version of the fury
i'm on a 2014 fury. love it. biggest bike i've ever rode. wonder what a bigger machine would do to that. but i love it.
Wow, That would be Bbbbbad to the bone! But I doubt the Fury frame could handle the weight or torque. It's take a lot heavier frame... I've ridden an Interstate (Fury frame) 5 yrs and it's made for the VTX1300 motor
Had both bikes since new, 1800 is 300 lbs heavier, drinks more, weight difference makes identical in thrust and power, my stock 1300 dynoed at 118 hp and 178 lbs torque, my stock 1800 dynoed at 128hp and 163lb torque, 52 mpg on1300, 38 mpg on 1800, do the math 1300 better all the way around, both very good bikes though
on my 1300 vtx i did two tankfuls and rode each tank at 40 mph, on farm road blacktop, and each time i got 70 mpg, wow. wish i could ride on major roads at that speed but you cannot, will piss off the wrong car driver.
Dyno sheet?
I went to the comments just to see the one thing that he says is the downside, thanks guys. Save me a listening to him talk talk talk. By the way I have the 1800 :-)
Way to much yammerin for your "reason", which in my case it is not. Silly at best. Carb over injectors any day, easier and cheaper to maintain. They're both on the gas guzzler side, but you'll know where the extra horses went on the 1800; straight to the gas station. A finely tuned Jet kit on the 1300 will greatly improve mpg not to mention the 1800 will have to fight to leave you behind. Period. Proven as my brother has an 18, I kept the 13, he simply cannot leave me behind. Also, I'd never ride w/out gloves, but then again, you've probably never needed a skin graft from your ass to your hands like some people I've known even after the silliest of spills. Protect yourself, man.
