    Those microphones sound awesome! Why don't you make a comparison between different brands and models of ELA-M 251 style microphones?

    Great video Christian. I'd pick the 6072. It had something extra. Beautiful singing too. Totally off topic... your video production was great. Can you give any details on that? Maybe a whole video on your setup would be super fun too.

      Thanks man! Sure I've been thinking about it. It's been quite the journey because I didn't know anything about cameras before I started out haha! I use a Panasonic S5, which is the best Bang for buck full frame camera on the market I'd say! They released a new version now which took leaps forward in auto-focus which has been their Akilles heal for years.

    This one seems very smooth on the top, when you get louder it never gets peaky or “hard” sounding , it stay soft and open.
    I think this could work well with a loud singer who belts. I wonder how much compression you used during your mixed version?
    This sounds somewhat similar to the uptown version, maybe with the uptown being a bit more forward and round.
    Do you recall if you processed this mic the same way as you did the other 251s you compared? Meaning same compressors , similar levels etc, outside of eq?
    I think I’d like this mic but with more forwardness, maybe compression would help with that

    Amazing video, Christian, as always. Love the song choice. One of my old time favorites songs. I liked the 6072 the best if I had to choose one, but it’s amazing how the sound can change. Question: why are your thoughts between this mic and the Upton? Cheers. Keep it up man.

    • @Christian_svedin
      @Christian_svedin  Рік тому

      Yeah the 6072 was magical! Personally I wasn't super impressed by the Upton, I've tried two different ones too! Way to uneven in the lowmids, you know it couldn't hold the lowmids together when you sang in a lower octave and then going up in the vocal range. The NLP is definitely the best option sub 4k. It's all subjective though when it comes to these highend mics. Personally I really like the GAP, a bit laid back in the midrange but big and bold

      @@Christian_svedin When you say GAP, you mean the ELA M251 or the GA-251 Mkii? Did you get to try the Flea 251 yet? Interested to know what you think. I am looking to buy a LCD mic and I am looking at the Flea 47/Flea 47 Next, but I really like the openness of the 251....

    I know this is an old video, but I have a question.
    When recording at that distance (like in the initial vocal performance) I always wonder, what's the typical/standard way of gain staging?
    Assuming you use a VU Meter, do you still aim for a maximun average of 0 (at -18 head room) or it is a different process that it is followed?

    • @Christian_svedin
      @Christian_svedin  6 місяців тому

      I really don't care about levels to much. As long as it isn't clipping you should be fine. I'm usually sing along a pre-recorded track on my videos so don't take to much notice on the distance. I usually have a healthy 30cm distance or so. Good luck

    i no all mics have better of something or more
    Or less bottom or top but between this and the golden age Sony for strictly vocal recorded what would you prefer the lpn sounded smooth and clean thanks

    • @Christian_svedin
      @Christian_svedin  Рік тому

      I do really like the GA8000, super clean and smooth. A 251 is more saturated, and have a bit more lowmids. Hard to say it's very subjective I'm afraid 🙈

    Hi Christian , How would you compare these to the Original or the Flea ?

    • @Christian_svedin
      @Christian_svedin  Рік тому +1

      Hey! I haven't used the Flea and I've only used a Vintage one. The NLP is very upfront and has a quite saturated sound which is nice. It's all subjective when we talk quality microphones I'm afraid but the NLP is pretty much half of the other boutique mics. Good luck ✌️
