I think that this song was inspired by God himself to Josh Groban. He chose the most beautiful faces and his voice is glorious.
This song has been one of my all time favorites since it was first released. I had no idea, then, that its message would be so close to home.
My teenage son has battled, and won against AML, a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. He was diagnosed in August of 2022, just a week after his 15th birthday. In January of last year he had a bone marrow transplant, his 14 year old brother was his donor.
We are 1 year, 1 month and 2 weeks since his transplant. He is doing amazing and living out the message of this song.
He gained a deep love for writing, poetry specifically, and has begun the process of getting an adult and youth poet laureate program in our city, to help combat illiteracy and to create an avenue for other amateur poets to express and share their art.
I’m beyond proud to get to have a front row seat to his life as he chases his dreams and life his second chance at life to the fullest he possibly can.
I've been through hard times this year and years before being despised by a husband who thought I never did enough for him. I went back to work at 50 after raising my sons who are the world to me. I didn't know if I could make it and I'll always be grateful to the man who made me feel I could be "useful"at my age. There's always hope somewhere.
God is faithful, lean on Him. He will give strength and make a way for you.
God is amazing. He heals. I believe in angels.

This seriously just gave me goosebumps. Anybody else felt the urge to tear up? 😭 Josh is one of the few inspirational artists with touching lyrics these days. His voice is just...hauntingly beautiful.

Cried til I'm stuffed up now! It's now my fav. Had not heard before. I love Josh's voice. Listen to Mi Manchera (spelling??) he's sings it in Italian but you will understand every word and note. Watch the video showing him doing it with the orchestra and the female violinist as he records it. You won't be sorry you did. It's absolutely out of this world beautiful. I cried and cried the whole way thru it and had no idea why, since I don't understand Italian. The English version is not as moving, so I never listen to it. The violinist plays with such perfection, emotion that you can feel what she is feeling with each note. Let me know how you like it. L :)

A very inspirational song - I was always too 'afraid' to do what I really wanted for fear of upsetting people/being sneered at etc etc and now I'm nearly 70, I feel I have wasted an awful lot of my life taking the 'accepted' route. Don't let other people's opinions hold you back, is what I'm trying to say. In the end, the people who matter only want you to be happy - the others can take a flying leap as they might have ulterior motives for you not succeeding at what you truly want.
I have tears in my eyes reading your post because I could have written this myself... the parallels are so striking. I am just a year behind you (birthday in a few weeks), and I feel the same. Yes, we are the ones who must figure out what we still want (or have always wanted!) in life and how to go about getting it. I want to believe it's never too late, despite society's lack of support for middle aged or recently retired people. Even at almost 64, I still feel like I'm yet to "find myself", but I do know that, like you, I put my dreams on the back burner for far, far too many years. I just wanted you to know that reading your comment made me feel validated and that there are others out there who feel the same longing that I do.. and perhaps the same despair that achieving my dreams at this stage of life will just never happen anymore. May we both encourage ourselves, as you aptly put it, and "find our light!"

@@amjPeace You are not really ever on your own, though sometimes it does feel like that. I went back to start a college program in photography seven years ago (I'm 62) and have never been more challenged or happier! It is scary, but there are so many of us out here in the same boat that you can be sure you are never alone. Find friends who are excited to keep learning, growing, and challenging themselves instead of growing stagnant as they move through middle age and retirement. I will never retire, because I've found something I love doing. It's never too late! Think about what you loved as a child...believe it or not, you are that same person now, and those dreams are just waiting to be chased. Be brave. You can do this too! Best always to you.

Carole Ransom me too. I have had a good life. I am a nurse.... retired now, but camp nurse in the summers... just followed my heart and do it, but I wish I had done what I really loved when I was 20. On one hand you have to think of what you can do to support yourself, which I did, but I never really LOVED what I did. Never looked forward to work. Last few years I have embraced the unknown by going to Italy to see IlVolo, going on several missions trips, and cherishing every minute. Thanks to Josh for this song to remind people to do what they love and never be afraid to be themselves.

This is such a powerful song. It lifts me up in dark days. Lost my mum 4 weeks ago. We saw Josh three times together. We played Broken Vow at her funeral. She didn't get to hear this new song. I took my daughter to see Josh and Idina Menzel in DC the other night...Never thought I'd be at their show, first time ever...But it was simply amazing. They have two of the most gifted voices ever. This song, as well as River, are so inspirational. I played this video for my middle school students, and they all were amazed. Some of the girls cried. It's that kind of song.
