I love your enthusiasm! It's contagious and always makes me smile. I am 74 (on July 1st) and you give me such joy. My hubby is in very ill health and I was recently diagnosed with cancer. It is operable and treatable so God has given me a gift due to a "fluke". No pity or sorrow here. Just praise for a second chance! Between us we have 7 kids, 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren with another due in December. I'll be here, thank the good Lord!🙏

Now I am a father, and I am dealing with health issues which make my prospective timeline kind of a mystery. My son is an adult now, and I worry most about he and my wife, and how they will move on after this version of me leaves the earth.
My sense of purpose is drastically changed from 3 years ago since my diagnosis.
I'll tell you this, your father knows, yes, present tense, KNOWS, you and he is proud that you are driving towards a greater place. And so am I.

Rick Astley was discovered by Pete Waterman (of Stock Aitken Waterman hit production team) while singing with his band and Pete Waterman signed him and brought him to their London studio just around the time where their music really took off, and Rick was sort of put on the back burner, so he just hung out, made tea for the established artists, soaked up knowledge about music production and made a ton of connections in the British music industry. Fast forward 2 years and Rick gets a shot with this song and it almost instantly became a worldwide hit. Number 1 in 25(if I remember correctly) countries. His first 8 singles reaching the top ten on the UK Singles Chart.

3:04 I hear ya man, my mom is all I got left too (Dad left when I was 10, now 38)...Take care of her dude, my mom is kinda a hippie and it rubbed off on me, so she shows no signs of becoming bitter and angry like many elderly people (Though her memory is starting to degrade)...we do the best we can and enjoy what we've got, we can always rock out to songs like this that we've both listened to so much that it'll be one of the last things we forget...I hope your dad rests in power, good luck and peace, man!
He was 19 at the time and basically working as an intern at a music poduction company. He got into singing by more or less by accident (a fortunate one). The "never gonna give you up" was his comment to the producer on travelling together with the producer on their way to the studio and listening to the producer's fiery phone call with his girlfriend. The producer allegedly just looked at him, speeded to the studio and started working.
