    It always amazes me wind, flap and land slow....When the plane has landed end of story for the person on the sticks, so then let the plane decide where it wants to go, which is never straight down the strip.

    Do they tend to fit cockpit camera's or fly from eye? Seems like a number of these could've been avoided with a camera so you have more idea where the plane is.

    Plane at 8 mins landed downwind according to the strongly flapping checkered flag. Never land a plane downwind, you need airflow from front over the wings or you lose rudder authority and the wind gets underneath and flips you over. Perfectly demonstrated here!

    • @kevinosborn2495
      @kevinosborn2495 2 роки тому

      Good catch, dude, thanks for pointing that out. At first, I thought the wing was stalling and he lost control during the bounce, until I watched it again. Sad for the pilot, but don't get to see a textbook example of that phenomena too often!
      Happy flying.

    Some really nice aircraft there but why not set up a large catch/ditching net -about 4 feet off the ground - just off the side of the runway.
    Any emergency landings might be a lot gentler (not to mention cheaper) than pranging onto the runway or grass.

    I'm not RC plane expert but watching the skill of those that fly the planes , is good times . Just wondering could RC planes made with an automatic auto pilot, if the plane was about to crash and avoid it crash or land safely.

    That first one. Worst possible time to have an engine quit in a twin engine plane. You're already going down, airspeed is low. There's no way to climb out of it and you can't turn toward the running engine to go around. He's lucky to have got it down with only a broken wingtip. There's tons of videos of twin engine RC planes that could have been saved if the pilot hadn't made the error of turning towards the dead engine. There's also plenty of videos like this where there's nothing the pilot could do, including ones where the plane was in a low turn and the engine to the inside of the turn quit. Instant smack into the ground.

  • @Vipcioo
    @Vipcioo 2 роки тому +7

    As always, Bob is great at filming because he can feel it and have a good experience. ;)
    Unfortunately, some people are not supposed to fly models, as can be seen in the video.
    It is sad to see a grown man fly a huge machine and crash it, because he has not mastered the basics of landing. Many times with some smaller and easier models first.
    It is no art to fly large and complicated models. But you have to be able to anticipate different situations and be able to react appropriately. And you can't buy this for money.
    This happens when little boys dreamed, and when they grew up, they could afford to fly. But they were still boys in their heads and they didn't do pilot training.
    Men's pride sometimes costs a lot sometimes...
