      I built 5 balsa airplanes teaching myself to fly. We didn't have sims back then. Get realflight. I've done it all and nothing is more fun than single engine propeller aircraft. If you had interest before, you will absolutely love it. It's more fun than you ever thought once you overcome control reversal syndrome with the sim. A sim will do this way cheaper than the $1000 I spent.

My older cousin Kevin, with building experience helped me correct those and get it flight ready. That day came and then the biggest mistake happened.😥😥😥 There were no survivors. Cheers!

  • @christopherknee5756
    @christopherknee5756 2 роки тому +2

    I learnt to fly RC planes from reading lots of articles in magazines like RC Modeler, Model Airplane News and RCM&E. That is where I got the idea of keeping trash bags in the car for accidents. Today, it seems that knowledge is lost. No one in this video had trash bags to help recover the many pieces they had to pick up. Maybe it is because all the RC magazines have disappeared!
    The bags don't consume any significant space in your car, but are excellent for picking up all the small pieces from a crash. The decision to repair ar rebuild is much easier if you have 100% of the planes parts. Also, this is a decision that can only be done outside of the heat of the moment. Also, it makes the retrieval of the parts easier and you are less likely to drop a servo or battery somewhere in the field. It keeps the field cleaner too as well as the trunk of your car. Also, instead of the black bags, there are nice strong translucent green ones which allow easier picking through the small parts in the bag.

      There was an element of truth to what he was implying but my knowledge of "real airplanes" was helpful, I think. Even so, flying RC has its own challenges, which I soon learned the hard way. Most important: stabilized approach and good airspeed control.

Decided to buzz his buddies crossing a foot bridge on the base. Zoomed a bit to low and caught the tree tops on the opposing side of the bridge. He thought he was dead. Came out the other side,,spitting sticks,, with the motor barely turning,, leading edge of the T-bolt wing was pounded flat,, gun barrels were bent back,,canopy smashed and minor cuts ensued, only 1/2 a rudder. It brought him back to the airstrip for a hard-down landing. He walked away.,,,with LOADED Britches!!

    5:40 the best looking jet ever made! Its hard to fly the wings are very small,and you must landing with higher speed like a other jet! The sound from a real Starfighter F-105 is unbelivebel loud and very cool,like not from this planet! Sorry for my bad english best wish Reiner from Germany

    There must be a perverse joy in the hearts of the folks that design and/choose rc airfield locations. So many trees

    Two types of RC models;
    1. Those that have crashed
    2. Those that will crash.

    They say its a good landing if you don't have to bend over more than once to pick up your plane

    LOL that jet hit that tree so hard that the tree did not even know the plane was even heading for it .

    Wonder why they do not put a bit of weight on the taildraggers to prevent prop face planting ?

    • @tbobborap1
      @tbobborap1  Рік тому

      because they will be tail heavy and uncontrollable in flight leading to a crash ! the undercarriage needs raking forward at the wheels to stop the model from tipping over - but then it would not look scale !

    we've all had crashes. anyone that's flown r/c for more than a few months and says they haven't is lying. the key is to start off with a simple trainer, and have someone help ya with a buddybox. practice that trainer plane till you can do half of the stuff that the more advanced planes can do. and you'd be surprised at what a plane like the hobbico superstar40 can do. that's when ya move on to something a bit more advanced. regardless of what kind of airplane you're flying, practice your landings. i've personally spent afternoons at the airfield where i did nothing but take off and land. it sounds boring. but it works. also practice slow flight when you're up high enough to recover a stall. see how slow you can keep control of your airplane. all of these things will help ya not dork it on the landing...which it looks like most in this video were doing. none of this is intended to be critical.
