Finally, an R/C fun-fly the way we used to do 'em! Really liked the L4 with Whittaker gear. It was specially designed for the old Atomic Regularity Committee, precursor to the Dept. of Energy circa 1945, for their aircraft that patrolled the Hanford Atomic Reservation in southeast Washington State. Art Whittaker and Virgil Buroker owned and operated a Piper Aircraft dealership at Pearson Field (the oldest continuously operated airfield in the US), Vancouver, Washington. The rough field landing gear was a popular STD'd modification right up through the 1960's. Somewhere in the dark reaches of the now defunct Pearson Air Museum archives are the original jigs and fixtures for the gear, along with a few other Piper authorized add-ons, like skis, and crop dusting equipment.

Thought the McDonnell-Douglas C47 Airdrop was a 1:10 RC model using Action Men Paratroopers until they started waggling their legs 😀.
Trust this was a RAF Historic Flight/British Parachute Regiment “Red Devils” WWII re-enactment??

People don't really think about it but whenever RC enthusiast they come up with creative ways that overtime and hopefully some of the RC people are collectors or hobbyist will help revolutionize the industry with these ideas.

I suppose 1:1 is a scale but I'm pretty sure the DC ( and the paras) weren't RC...
the p51 was running lean better fix that it wont last long that way
no it wasn't lean tom but to much air pressure being pushed into the carb pump diaphram vent - soon sorted it out

The pilot in the 1st vid w/ the P-51 was amazing pilot skills dam nice plane too. The C-47 WAS NOT AN RC PLANE airshow footage the paratroopers move after they land like @ 4:36. SORRY YOU DIDN'T FOOL ME AT ALL ON THAT ONE. Dam good pilot skills in this though.

That C-47 was a crappy model and those little plastic army men dropping out of it didn't help it's scale factor. Totally unrealistic.
