  • DRIVING THE TRUCK TOP GEAR COULDN'T KILL🤯*Toyota Hilux Review(4K)
    Who doesn't love Top Gear?? Jeremy Clarkson just so happens to be one of my idols and one of the reasons I started a UA-cam channel in the first place. So when the opportunity to drive this 1990 Toyota Hilux pickup truck AKA that truck on Top Gear that they lit on fire, blew up, sank in the ocean amongst many other forms of undeserved punishment; I could not resist.
    Today, the Toyota Hilux is known as one of the toughest mid-size pickup trucks around. The Toyota Hilux is still built and sold even to this day! So what is it like to drive this 1990 Toyota Hilux? Does it live up to its bulletproof standard?
    Huge thanks to Northeast Auto Imports for allowing me to drive this Toyota Hilux! Check them out here; northeastautoimports.com/

    I spent a year driving around Sydney in one of these, delivering auto parts to mechanics for up to 10 hours a day. Watching this brought a twinge of nostalgia, they just went and went and went, never a problem. Only maintenance was new tyres. Amazing little beasties and definitely fun to drive.

    • @jefftitterington7600

      My guess - you probably didn't deliver many Toyota parts.

    • @Aussiemarco
      @Aussiemarco 2 роки тому +3

      You’re right, I didn’t deliver them. People came to the store and bought the parts themselves and did the work at home, since they’re so basic and easy to work on. Eg 90 seconds for anyone to change an air filter 😂

    Aussie here - I have a 96 ln106, one of the last solid axle models with AC and power steer as stock option, but down here there are people turboing them and producing reliable good power. Landcruisers dominate the country areas due to having more power and abit heavier payloads etc, but mine go's more places then my dads 79 series landy!

The transmission has a bad design barring in it that has had to have it rebuilt more than a few times. But it still runs great. And yes it's a diesel. Those who know what they are love them.

    Nice Yota! I wish they came with a diesel in the US. A an old 5vz tacoma probably feels fast in comparison to an old diesel hilux. Most 4bangers made about 100hp on a good day in the 1980s. I think most people forgot how slow cars were back then.

    Good to see a Hilux ute despite the fact its a diesel engine by the way Hilux stands for High Luxury but my 1997 Hilux is not very luxurious or is it firstly reliability us a luxury and mine has done 430000kms which is about 250000 miles and runs great the engine is original never been out is the famous 22R motor is a rear wheel drive single cab aluminum tray if you haven't guessed it l live in Australia and the Hilux is a common dight on Australian roads infact it is biggest selling vehicle in Australia from tge base model rwd workmate with a petrol 4 cylinder motor to the top spec 4X4 V6 turbo diesel and in 1997 mine was the only spec you could get both petrol and diesel available in a hard bodied ute double cab ute l have only seen one 1997 4 runner very rare most were rear wheel drive and today they are still used as work vehicles and the sigle cab rwd aluminum trayed Hilux are the most desirable configuration and l paid aud $ 1500 for it and is worth aud $5000 to $6000 l have spent more than $1500 fixing it up so it is worth putting the money into it

    change the better steering, and built in the better modern tech infotainment and nice audio quality speakers and change the headlight to LED. And you upgraded your truck's value double! And make sure you refurbished the waterproof paints for your truck's body frame. And double check the Disc brakes if it still last. Switch the engine oil to full Synthetic oil using Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge. Make sure spark plug is genuine Japanese made NRG (ohhh is it fuel injector engine or Carburettor?)
