I'm a tech for Toyota main dealer and I knew you were going to say about the fuel sender before you even said it! Sometimes they do however get misdiagnosed as a faulty gauge cluster too as you mentioned. The brake pads do also have a habit of sticking on the holding pins causing uneven wear so it's important to clean them at every major service.

Have you ever heard of a car (Toyota Verso 1.8 petrol auto) having acceleration problems "only" when fuel is below half tank? Mystery to all the mechanics I have spoken to. No warning lights. Passes MOT. Idles perfectly. Starts fine. I just keep filling up until I know what to do? Diagnostics shows no codes. Would be pleased if you could resolve this mystery.

May I tell you all a story, about a Hilux I had in Australia? I had a HiAce work van, which got to a zillion miles and I was given a Hilux ute. (Pick-up) It had 500km on it when I arrived at the office one day. As I got out, I was hit on the shoulder, then noticed large lumps of hail starting to land, so I ran inside. I then watched my 500km Hilux get totally destroyed. Look it up; Perth WA, 2010.

Oh that's horrible. Why couldn't it have been the old van.
I've seen this in action. Years ago I was doing my work permit stuff in Sydney. Sitting there at home, sunny outside. Then I heard this racket starting , like a train running through the garden. Looked out in disbelief at millions of golf balls raining down everywhere.
I was just off parramatta Rd, where there were loads of car dealerships. The damage was in the millions.

I had this model Hilux here in Australia 100% best pickup on the market, timing belt every 100 thousand kms all they need

Can proudly say that we make the Hilux here for most of the Americas (excluding the Northern one, they have the Tacoma instead). Love the Hilux. We also make Ranger and Frontier here. Great video as always, Matt. Vila’s Emi Martinez also has that kind of dog. Security reasons, I assume.

I have a 91 V6 petrol 4 runner, the Hilux is similar in size, sadly in the USA we cant get the Hilux, because of the Chicken tax, if I lived south of the border in Mexico I would have the choice of the Hilux and the more expensive Tacoma, I'm not a fan of more recent Tacoma's, so full of cheap hard plastics and not what I expect from Toyota, sadly Id take a more recent Nissan Frontier/Navara over a Tacoma at this point., I've owned many Toyota's over the years, so reliable.

The legendary Toyota Hilux. Was first introduced to a certain motoring show when I watched three very entertaining men try to completely destroy one.... and fail miserably at it! _"It's still alive!"_ 😆

It’s only one of the good ones if you stick to servicing schedules which are arduous, regardless of that my mates 70plate Invincible X has blown up at 38k miles, whereas my 71plate Wildtrak 52k miles still goes strong. Both tow heavily and are used for their intended purposes. I’ve owned 8 Rangers and they’ve never let me down.
My second motor is a 22plate R-Dynamic HSE Disco, so principally I am with your man and his views as to which vehicles are best. LR/RR fan 4 life!! 😊

This is as close as a pickup can come to being a modem classic. With the sprayed black wheel arches. All the tasteful crome and the nice wheels. Not many will see it through but I think in 35 years this era of hilux with a priv reg, buffed back crome and unsealed ever 4 years will be seen as a classic. Just have a feeling. Know somebody who’s got one as there pony club car, for towing the trailer about and for chucking the labs in the back, always looks after it. Priv reg, looks the part.

Last autumn, I met up with a mate of mine from primary school days. I started talking about you as a UA-cam channel I enjoy and before I got to the name, he said, "that sounds just like something I watch... is it High Peak Autos?" He moved to New Zealand many years ago, so your content has gone round the planet. I bet he's one of many... have you ever noted the number of countries you've reached?
