Nice video! I can see you took some inspiration from my video haha! since I did the swap it was the best money I ever spent. Still fighting backfiring issues with the tbi unit but other than that running good. Good job man!
Definitely! I've been getting comments over a hesitation or backfire problem my best guess is the TBI & ECM/OBD1 cant handle it
@@rickysgarage4036 I had a JET chip that kinda helped but I think it needs more fuel pressure. I don’t own the truck anymore so idk what happened
I like your get it done style. Don’t spend money you don’t have to. I’m going to have to subscribe because I’m going to be doing this to my brothers 95 ecsb soon. Well done man.
I appreciate it and I hope you enjoy anything I upload in the near future I have a ton of projects that I need to work on an hopefully upload to the channel!
Great video🤙
Great video
Rick I was looking at your video on change vortec intake intake to 88 model motor I trying the same thing but using a vortec motor changing to throttle body what can I do to make it work.
HI buddy this is a great video. Just a quick question. What kind of intake manifold gasket are you using?
You you have parts number to the sensors as well? How would we ask for those at Napa
Did you jave to change the fan to fit the vortec water pump?
I have a 1989 with a vortec that was swapped and i have a few questions about it if have # could call or anything
What does it sound like
Thanks so much for video! I am Currently exchanging a 96 Vortec engine swap to a 95 TBI, using the exact same set up and parts from inspiration and education from your video (s). I have been reading mixed reviews on different Chevy/GM Forums about the distributor, some saying that original AC Delco will work and others saying that a hardened distributor gear is needed to avoid damage. My question is, after 5 months since posting this video, is that same TBI distributor in video still working well in that Vortec engine? If so, what is the name, part number of the the distributor? Thanks so much in advance!
I do need to make a update video on the truck and project overall but I replaced the distributor with a new one but still for a tbi system the shaft on the old one was very stiff and I replaced it and a huge difference on acceleration. I didn’t change the gear and the gear on the old one was still good
This is what I did with my 92 having some hesitation problems
What kind of hesitation problems and is the check engine light on?
Well I did have code 42 and code 22 but I fixed the distributor and readjusted the tps sensor. Everytime I get up too 2500 rpm or if im going up a hill the bogs and cuts out then I let off the gas and it comes back
Try putting the 14psi spring in and get the vortec fuel pump. These heads flow way more than swirl ports
Did you have any issues with the distributor if so what distributor did you use I watch some other videos they said since it was a roller cam you had to get a hardened cam gear or something like that
I installed a new distributor a few weeks ago and on the old distributor the teeth were fine. (Both distributors are TBI)
I got a 94 5.7 4x4 5 speed bad rusty frame , got a 98 4.3 vortec 4x4 5 speed solid truck. 4.3 is blown up so I wanna swap 5.7 into the 98 truck.
The only suggestion I have is you swap everything from the 94 into the 98 literally everything ecm, wiring the whole 9 yards. Make your 98 into a 94 truck
How did you set your timing? I have a 95 z71 4x4 I put a crate motor 5.7 vortec in and went with original tbi and original est distributor and can't seem to get the timing right. Any help on this would greatly be appreciated.
I had set it on 0 degrees with the tan/black stripe wire unplugged for base timing
So why do you have to unplug that wire to set the timing. And do you connect it back
@Hc-mn4qp
The wire advances the timing, u have to unplug it to set the initial timing, I set mine at 4 degrees advance because mine would backfire through the tbi and for some reason stopped with the 4° advance instead of th 0° the factory calls for
Does yours have hesitation issues for example- when I step on mine it will sorta bog out or just cut out for 2 second and the get it but very slowly mostly everything is brand new on it to anything helps thank you
Check out my update video over this issue
Hey what is the part number. For the front brackets for the alternator and a/c?
I don’t have a part number for the bracket but it’s from the 1992-1995 c/k trucks
Man nice setup just did mine. But having an issue starts and stays on but when I set on the gas the carb like pops but when I slowly step on gas it revs without popping can any on help. And also it’s a stock 350 with vortex heads and Vortec intake what spark plug did you all gap you’ll at.
Double Check timing and timing chain And wires also make sure you have enough grounds to the right places
What distributor are you running
The stock one
Anything ever happen to the Dizzy? its been a year what issues have come of this swap?
Nothing happened but I did HEI swap it hopefully later in the year EFI swap instead of the TBI
What intake gaskets did you use for the 2116 intake manifold?
Felpro 96-98 350 vortec intake gasket
Did you use the roller lifters and roller cam ?
The vortec engine had already the rollers styled cam and lifters
What is that lil black box between the water neck n the intake manifold
Evap solenoid
Did u use the tbi cam ,rocker & push rods with the Vortec heads?
No the entire engine is vortec just the tbi system and distributor is from the tbi with the edelbrock vortec to tbi intake
@@rickysgarage4036 oh okay would you know if I could use my tbi rocker ,cam and push rod with Vortec head ? I plan on replacing everything later on
@@JosePerez-of7oi you can put it’s not practical due to cooling issues
Running any chip? I keep hearing about hesitation when gassing it
No, but I've heard about backfiring or hesitation on this matter. Check out my HEI swap video you can see 0-60 WOT no problems
What is the power difference? Did you have to have it tuned?
No tune or Chip atm but later on maybe I will
@@rickysgarage4036appreciate the reply
Did you have to modify the fuel system or the tbi chip?
Not at all but I will put a chip and upgrade the fuel pump for a ‘96 version in the near future
@@rickysgarage4036we need this video!
@@christiancrigler9328 that’s what my UA-cam channel is all about
I never seen anyone add TBI.. I’m looking to change mine out for a carb.. lol
We’ll soon I’ll be able to make a video of me swapping it for the jegs bandit efi series
I'm looking to do this same swap I got a vortec but my truck is tbi. Is it better to go carburator while I'm at it??
carb or efi (bandit or fitech) would be okay
