Thanks for another terrific interview Mira. I'm loving this series and keeping my fingers crossed you manage to get hold of the other Heresy authors for future installments. It's instructive and heartening to hear Graham never recieved any complaints about Mechanicum due to it having a lot of female characters. I'd have been amazed if he had. It's a very popular entry in the Heresy series and generally well-thought of by fans. It's nice to be reminded that people who enjoy W40k are a lot more accepting and rational than some of the foaming at the mouth of recent weeks has made it seem at times.
Mira, I’ll comment on every one of these videos you do, and I’ll probably say the same basic thing: These are so great! It’s fairly uncommon to be able to get a retrospective look behind the curtain with any author, and the fact that you have access so a big chunk of the Black Library team is just an absolute gem of a treat. Thank you!
I swear I say this every time, but I LOVE these interviews. They’re much more about the process and why, not necessarily the what, and as English Lit grad I’m all over it!
Really enjoying these and the book club. Love hearing from the authors as well. There are a lot of entries I'm keen to hear your take on eventually (The First Heretic and Master of Mankind will be big) but A Thousand Sons is one of my favorites looking back, and that's not too far off. Hope you two can chat about that one too!
If you're going to do A Thousand Sons chat, seriously consider reading A Thousand Sons and Prospero Burns first and doing a 3 way chat with Dan and Graham. Both those books are great to read on their own, but playing g them off against each other really boosts both.
Absolute corker of a book so very happy to listen to this! I listen to these whilst I rock my baby to sleep and they make the process much more fun 😎✌️
Just out of curiousity how close are you to First Heretic? Would love to see you interview Aaron Dembski-Bowden at some point when you get to that one. And as usual lovely interview with Graham McNeil again!
I am outraged I tell you, OUTRAGED! I didn't get a notification about this video. Make sure to subscribe and click the bell icon for notifications, don't be like me people.
That one was my least favourite book by a long shot for sure. It had such a bizzare ending that was at the same time pretty epic and incredibly unsatisfying and lame. Not to mention the continuity errors and "main character" power scaling...
@@MrZauberelefant TOD and Battle for the Abyss were a struggle for me, but honestly they were the only ones I had a real issue with from the 31 books I've gone through by now. I understand that people don't like the Dark Angels books too much because it feels completely detached from HH. For me it was a nice change of pace and a bit of variety. Although the way Nemiel's character arc felt like a failed attempt at emulating George R. R. Martin and attract the new GoT show fans that was pretty hot at the time.
Another fantastic interview, Mira! I'm wondering if it might be a fun idea to have Dan AND Graham on at the same time for a double feature on Burning of Prospero and Thousand Sons?
It's interesting that Graham says that Kelbor Hal and his group were genuine in their ideas about doing good for Mars. Especially Kelbor Hal stroke me as a guy that used the rhetoric of a Free Mars to amass more power for himself and being jealous of how the Emperor secured the faith of many of his compatriots and sidelined him.

All biological bits are equal for the Machine-God, thankfully 😅

The Emperor is a fan of single malt Talisker, that's my new canon

These interviews are great. Mira’s genuine curiosity and enthusiasm is so enjoyable. I’ve enjoyed the books more because of the journey. Thanks
I had realised it was Skye from the description in the book, but thank you for getting him to reveal the exact location 🎉

This is by far, my favorite Graham McNeil book SO FAR. Absolutelty love his skill in worldbuilding.

The last Church is my all-time favourite 40k book - love hearing the inside baseball going on here :)
Side question next time you see Graham: did he help write the Scottish tourism slogan (“the greater good strategy”)? Very Tau
Adaptus Mechanicus is my favorite.

Three books before I get to that. And hoping ADB agrees to chat with me! Everything crossed
He seems like a legend, so I am looking forward to that interview :)
After I listen to these interviews I always realise how much I missed in every book. Thanks for asking such great questions

Great interview as always!
Thank you. These interviews are always great.
Im with you Mira, save fulgrim
I can't wait for "The Outcast Dead" review and author talk with Graham McNeil. That is one controversial book.
Thousand Sons first :)

@@Elbuarto Tie between TOD and Battle for the Abyss for me. After those and Descent of Angels, I stopped reading HH
