How can two people be so beautiful 😍?????????
Great video as always 😊
Was a great listen, thanks 🙂
It’s been decades since I’ve read either, but I recall thinking at the time that Legion was the most Jorge Luis Borges thing I’d ever read in a Warhammer setting. I’ve always wondered if he was throwing in references or that was coincidence or just in my head.
Mira, please do all the Heresy novels.. ive read the first 5 and a few others and these interviews and your reviews with Ian are motivating me to pick it back up and finish the series with y'all!
That is the plan!
@miramanga are y'all reading one a month or just winging it?
@ I finish one and start the next. It’s slower than one a month I think but I do my best!
@@miramanga as a reader I completely understand. I'm sure your queue (tbr pile) is full just like the rest of us!
The inquisition war is basically the only series that captures the fever dream aesthetic og early 40k It's one of my absolute favourites
A lot of the weirdness is because Inquisitor was literally the first 40k novel, ever
🎵’Enforcer, banamamamamamawayo, a licky bumbum down!’ 🎵 😂
Be very careful about anything from Ian Watson. He is a very... strange author.
Nice loot! I wanted to start reading Enforcer because it sounded pretty cool, but I got my hands on the Fabius Bile omnibus first :P
inquisition war is wild, but it is very much "superseded" in the terms of the lore. That era of 40K is really early on and a lot of stuff has been revised or just retconned, so just go into that novel with the vaguest assumptions on the setting (i.e. grimdark space magic empire, and don't assume any of the specific details like say the Heresy apply here)
enforcer though is very much in the current era (well, a bit early, but it's in the post 3rd edition stuff so you can assume it fits in well) Carstein is from Warhamemr Fantasy and Age of Sigmar, not 40K (though it would be pretty funny if he showed up lol)
Inquisitor war is nutso
Get well soon, some in store footage would be quite controversial 😮
The Inquisition War is a great book, so Grim Dark, really interesting. Jordan Scorcery did a interview with Ian Watson.
Inquisition War trilogy is the most evocative and grim dark novel in the 40K canon ever IMO. It's a rollocking story and is the first time in full length prose we have things like Navigators and all the disturbing chaos gods/cults and the webway etc. I've read it a few times through.
50,000£? Ridiculous! I’m yours for the price of a cup of coffee and a jelly donut.
Ian Watson's 40K is the TRUE VISION of 40K and every other author is A COWARD in comparison.
Enforcer is an awesome read, especially if, like me, you like to read the 'behind-the-frontlines' books. Ian Watson's stuff is, like the live commenters said, old as dust, and fair warning; Ian Watson's writing style is weird. Like, I'm not trying to hype it up, but The Inquisition War stuff is from the earliest eras of the lore (and I'm pretty sure predated 2nd edition of 40k) and the lore you're familiar with was pretty much just not established at the time. He also did the very first space marine novel, titled, creatively enough, Space Marine. I'd read Enforcer first, though. It's just more digestible. The inquisition War is a bit of a slog at points. I love them both, though. And actually have the same copies. I hope you enjoy them!
completely agree, inquistior and space marine occupy a bit of a grey area between rogue trader and 2nd, i got into the hobby in 2nd ed, so these books were "amazing" because they were all there was, when compared to modern 40k they feel a bit dated, still an interesting read, loved the enforcer books
I thought the thumbs had to be hooked together to form the sign of the Aquila Imperialis. Glad to know I was doing it wrong. Imperatoris Illuminat.
I also thought the thumbs had to be hooked. I got it from somewhere but I can't remember where. Ave Deus Imperator Hominem.

"By your word."
A Thousand Sons is one of the very few Warhammer 30 or 40K books that portrays somewhere in the setting you would want to live. Prospero pre Heresy was so close to Utopia. Maybe the only one 🤔
Read these as a teen in high school way back in 2008 and kept up ever since. The ability to humanize whatever 40k subject he wants is hai greatest strength and some characters will live forever in my mind. Corbec is the best
Fulgrim is my favorite of the early heresy
8.30...now you've tasted his skill perhaps the nightlords trilogy may no longer be out of the question? AVE DOMINUS NOX
I'm so excited for you, seeing your reactions to all the revelations this book brings. Almost jealous 😂. So happy your family reading this one 👍
Those books like all the other Warhammer books even fantasy are brilliant. Black Library write the best novels and I've read thousands of books by hundreds of authors. There's something about the setting. You never know what your going to get and there is always a piece of lore that connects somehow and makes you want to go reread an older book with a different perspective. Love these. Edit:- Also someone just sent me Dan Abnett The Founding so I'm looking forward to that.
Chris is one of the 40K authors I really love hearing talk about their work, along with Dan Abnett. It's obvious that he really enjoys speculating about the world and figuring things out about his characters, and he's very enthusiastic about going into detail about his work.
Didn’t think I’d like this book as I knew very little about the Thousand Sons but Graham really fleshed the Legion out and added so much you can’t help but enjoy the journey.
Even if you are of the opinion that the Emperor actually does care about the primarchs, he makes a LOT of really bad dad-decisions.
Let us bathe in the light!!!
Ahhh... the intro did say that the world is divided between peaceful town dwellers and nomadic vandals... so maybe anyone we run into is A Bad’un? (Nudge nudge, say no more) watch out for Arks of Omen!
Love the songs ❤
Hands down ADB is my favourite BL author, second only to Dan Abnett.
I read this book years ago, but no where as carefully as mira, I’ll try reading it again
Mira, thank you for these great interviews. It’s brilliant seeing you get further and further into the series and stories & I hope you continue to enjoy them
A good book always draws you in doesn't it. As a good book should . And this just goes to show how much of a good heart you have that a disturbing book like this can make you squirm so much. My heart goes out to you😊
Loving this interview - I read some of the HH books and never really liked the space marines that much, but Thousand Sons just made me feel 'These are my little guys' 🤎
Finally your eyes are opening to the lies of the False Emperor. If the galaxy cannot be spared of his hypocrisy then let it all burn!
I hope you get to interview ADB Mira ... as much as you do!
I'm sorry Mira....I didn't intend for you to find out this way, forgive me....😢 signed : Daddy Empy
Another fantastic and ensiteful interview. Graham is the author that got me into 40k (his ultramarines series) and it's so great he's so open and willing to speak about his work. Truly one of the greats. P.S. can't wait till you get to Know No Fear
Yay, love these interviews, thank you. Mind blown at 4mins in, Graham and Dan were originally going to swap who wrote "A Thousand Sons" and "Prospero Burns" ooohh my gosh, that's amazing.
You got some lovely, speculative comments out of him, Mira, well done! 'A Thousand Sons' is definitely in my top ten of the mainline series. Such a unique, esoteric, and emotive culture depicted, and some of the most human insights into an Astartes legion. Will be interested to hear your views on 'Prospero Burns' with Ian - it's an accompanying entry which surprised some readers. I found it very blokey and the only skippable Abnett contribution in the entire series.
I enjoy your reviews with Arbitor Ian. I have Subscripted I look forward to seeing what you do.
Will need to dodge this not read it yet lol .sounds as mad as fulgrim 😂
This is cool 😊
Argel Tal best boy. You can add a lot of context about one of the real driving forces of the Heresy story, good old Lorgar, by reading the novella 'Aurelian' found in the 'Eye of Terra' anthology (book 35 of the Horus Heresy). Long live those who gave their lives for the Truth!
@@Acatarro I love the fact that you see the change from meek choir boy to absolute bad ass warrior monk of hell in that book
This is why Know No Fear is such an awesome book. It's the word bearers revenge for their planet
ADB has a very good Wordpress blog he updates occasionally if you’ve not found it yet.
My favorite Book of the HH saga.
