EXCELLENT VIDEO! I take photos during disassmbly of projects and mark everything with a black felt tip pen. WD40 is NOT a lubricant, it's a penetrant used to break rusted connections. There is NO reason NOT to remove the momentary switch. Just make the connector and photo it. The momentary switch tells the main board the position of the valve. Using a 27vdc transformer from an old laptop, I powered the motor and caused it to rotate using the marks on the cam. If the float turns off the water supply, the second step, using the brine to wash the resin beads, will NOT work. U must release the float so water can travel out of the brine tank and into the resin beads.
Love the comment very good information
Great video thanks! I have a similar Kenmore Elite 38520 that was leaking from the control head. I installed the seal kit following your video and also installed a new venturi gasket. Cleaned all fittings/screens too and no errors on display - hoses are new and clean - no salt clog that I can see. My issue now is the brine tank fills with water and only goes down when I initiate a regeneration. (Empties out mostly during Brine cycle but slowly fills back up - float assembly is clear is free)
In reassembling, I was unsure where the 'service' position was on cam and gear so I put it back where it was before disassembly - not sure how to interpret the symbols on cam gear but am wondering if it's smart enough to adjust if need? Could this be related to my problem? Hard to troubleshoot remotely I know but thanks for any ideas!
Best, Dave
If the cam gear does not stop in correct position the limit switch could be bent or in the wrong set of holes. Watch video for the removal of the limit switch. around the 4 minute mark.
Thanks for showing how tight it is to turn. I couldn't decide if maybe my valve head was seized a bit. The original problem was the motor was seized. witch was easy to correct with wd40 followed with light oil. then run it for a while on the bench with a 24 volt power supply
You are welcome thanks for watching
I went ahead and played this at 0.75 speed to undo your speed up, just for giggles
Cool Thanks for the comment
My top was leaking and dripping down into salt. Changed top seal inside rotor. Golden $ 7.00 at Lowe’s for multi pack of seals in plumbing. I followed all instructions here. I got sent wrong part from whirlpool. Went my own way. Check rotor for staining at the top seal. Top of rotor had rust staining.
Excellent tip thanks for watching
@my two good hands these knuckle heads sent me a cam/gear that's a third larger in diameter im so fed up
