Hello Mr. Singletary, To me, this is the video every new trader should watch several times before going live. The same applies to anyone who did not fare so well trading in the past and is thinking of getting back into it, like myself. Thank you for sharing your method of keeping a trade journal. The most valuable lesson I have learned so far, and affects everyone, is REGRET. I am still paper trading, but on a losing trade I let hope take over when the green line on the MACD started to go against me and instead of getting out, I stayed in the trade until it hit my stop at 30 points. By forcing myself to examine the trade, there were three bars where I could have gotten out at break even, but foolishly stayed in because of hope and convincing myself there wouldn't be another opportunity like this one if I did get out. With the luxury of hindsight, it helped to reinforce the importance of the rule to limit your losses and live to trade another day. Even though it was a paper loss, the feeling of regret was very real. In closing, thank you for making the only channel dedicated to trading the micro emini MNQ futures, no one else has a format like it because it actually teaches you an easy to understand system for free. Everyone else wants to talk about how great of a trader they are and get you to buy their system, or they only put out videos showing on X day they made $XXXX amount of dollars.
I'm new to trading and just started reading your book. I wish this video showed what tools you use to create a journal. Also when reviewing a past trade what to look for to improve next time. Thanks for sharing.

Don, Enjoying your videos and learning a simple straight forward strategy. Question: How do you set the original stop loss price? Resistance? Certain dollar amount? Request: Can you show how to buy/sell on TastyWorks? Observation: When the green crosses the red below the MACD zero line, then both green and red lines go above the zero line, by the time the red line is above the zero line, often most of the move is gone. Any suggestions to catch more of the move?
Thanks William. Test your theory by practice trading and trying for the "25 consecutive trades" You can try it both ways on yourself. Learning to trade is a great deal like the old adage, "You can't learn to drive a car by just reading about it." You need to discover what works for you. My guidelines are a bit on the conservative side; with experience you get better at making your own decisions and make your own adjustments. Stay well.
sure: the answer is standard defaults The default settings for the MACD or MACD Percentage indicator are: Slow moving average: 26 . Fast moving average: 12 . Signal line: 9- moving average of the difference between fast and slow. stay well. - Don
What platform to use for 25 successful practice trades? I don't think Tastyworks has paper trading. Thanks a lot for your videos and the guidance you provide.
Wajid. You are correct; I'd suggest just the charts and you can print them out for the trade journal. That would work fine. Please you are welcomed to watch the two playlist links (above in the text after the video.) Kind regards. Stay well. - Don
Either MNQ and/or MES would be fine Steven. I selected MNQ due to the $2 point value and the fact that MNQ is known for being 'tech stocks.' I trade either with the same chart / MACD. The reason I do not switch around on my videos is so that viewers will see a consistent chart/setup and especially for people new to futures trading - that make it easier to learn a little faster. Good question. Thank you and welcome to the channel, Steven.
I use a program called Camtasia (works on Mac or PC) the little camera (webcam) that shoots my picture is a Logitech. Camtasia has many ways to input video, audio, and stills. The output is extremely versatile you can deliver HD 1080 output or in just about any custom size (even each iPhone model) and the major/popular formats. I use a portable greenscreen and the program handles it quite well. For audio I use studio quality microphone, active equalizer and digitized output for USB. And I process post production audio with a program to get 0dB +/- 1.0 level on UA-cam plays. Camtasia comes with a library of effects and I haven't needed to buy anything additional. When I set out to create this channel about 4 years ago, I wanted to avoid putting up any screens that would be difficult to read. When watching my videos you can select HD 1080 for the best definition when viewing. good luck to you - Don
On page 6 of your book you have a price interval change chart super imposed on the Nasdaq Micro chart. Is that a script you use to dynamically register the price changes or a cut and paste from another program such as Excel? Thanks.
Hello Don, hope you are taking care of yourself in these uncertain times. I am new to futures trading, bought your book, watch your videos and I am very excited to get started learning how to trade futures for some extra income. I just opened a Tastyworks account but it doesn’t look like they have rewind trading. I have heard that Webull & TD Ameritrade’s Think or Swim platform both have rewind trading and it sounds like this method of learning might be more efficient than paper trading simply because with rewind trading you could back test many trades in a short amount of time without having to wait for a trade to present itself as in paper trading. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks so much for your time and all that you do. -Randy
That feature on TOS does NOT work on Stock Indexes of any size, including the Micro E-minis. I recommend, regardless of which broker you use, the methods describe in this video. If used, you have an 'off line' record in chronological order to review your decisions in great detail. Having said that "to each his own." and I wish you the best, Randy. Thank you.
The one that changed my game was a 5 Wood. Not the choice of pros but for me it was a good fit. It's amazing how much changing a simple thing can change your game. There are traders that swap their setups way too often. I recall a golfer friend of mine, who love to put up a bet on every game. He would always tip the pro to give them 'tips' just before tee time; that's was a sure way to trash his opponent before the game even started!
