    I can't help thinking that this test was flawed. You used three different products in different areas but what was really required to determine if they are effective was to spray part of each section with the product and leave the other half untreated.

    Hey Brian I have new sod and I think I have a thatch issue.. it was installed in august it’s now September and the area is soggy I live in GA.. I want to air 8 it and d thatch it to see if that helps with water drainage.. it looks good and green but it’s spongy, any other suggestions?

    Because of you, “tuft” is my new favorite term for “a bunch” of grass 😀. Also, I’ve ordered the D-Thatch from LCN and pouring it is a sob, but a cup with a pour spout or funnel works. Great work! Thank you!🥹

    I am curious. I have not started my liquid dethatcher yet but the spongiest area of my lawn is a portion of my front yard. It is also the greenest portion and the most thick with grass. Is that not a little bit of a reason to question whether I need a dethatcher there. That is the spongiest which indicates from the videos that I've been watching of yours that it has the most thatch. And I would have to agree with that. But why is it then the greenest and thickest portion of the lawn? Can you answer that for me? Again thank you for your great videos. I will continue to subscribe and like every one of your videos. You do an excellent job of like every one of your videos. You do an excellent job of editing.

      Remember the old adage ... "the grass is always greener". Do you want spongy underfoot? It's really not healthy since the root structure is quite shallow, despite it being green. It might suffer considerably if you hit a drought where the thatch dries out.

    Thanks so much for all this helpful vids. Question: I can see on top of my lawn lots of dead grass between the healthy grass (kind of a marble look.. with green and beige colours) So do u think that before I put the Next d-thatch on the lawn I should first clean the lawn with a thatch rake?

      Sorry for my delay in getting back to you. This time of year many lawns are still seeing some winter dormancy that hasn't broken. If your lawn soil is in the 50's and especially the upper 50's then just go for the d-thatch and let the rest of the lawn wake up on it's own. Nothing wrong with taking garden rakes to it though to keep that dormant grass lifted up a bit for air flow. It'll come around.

    It would seem that the kids toys are germinating quite well.

    Why don't you pull a plug like you did the first time when was showing the thatch

    Thank you for sharing an alternative de-thatching method. I am going to use the liquid version this summer. I am new to your channel. I just wanted your Thatch Removal from the Lawn playlist. I learned a lot. One thing I recommend is that you add the items in the list in chronological order. This one played mainly from the end of the process to the beginning. Nevertheless, it was worth it as I watched all eleven episodes. Thanks again. I liked and subscribed to your channel.

    Do you bury kitchen scraps in your lawn?

  • @MorsSmores

    Did you water them in or let them “cook”?

    • @TurfMechanic
      @TurfMechanic  3 роки тому

      I've seen reference to the "let it cook" but I don't buy it. These are all mixtures of humic and molasses for the most part and others are the "bugs in a bottle" type. So long as soil temps are above 55 the microscopic biology in the soil is active so I water all my dthatching liquid apps in regardless of the product. The breakdown should be occurring between the soil layer and thatch layer like the bottom of a compost pile so watering it in makes sense to me.

    Is the spongyness gone?

    • @TurfMechanic
      @TurfMechanic  2 роки тому

      Two years into my work to repair the layer I am proud to say that it is far less thick and spongy. Thatch layer is much thinner but it's still there in isolated areas. I started from a really bad spot so it takes time but I don't see it as as big of a problem these days in my lawn.
