  • Thanks for tuning in as always. I hope this test works out well, meaning that we get results one way or another. Thanks to Mr. Kevin for letting us test it out on his property. I know he'd rather have GCI turf there, but he's kind to allow us to do a video testing this product out. God bless you all, be safe, and we'll see you soon!

Will have to share my experiences with this as well as the Humic12 and RGS in my next video. Great content, as always.

Detaching products are essentially identical to compost starter. It requires 3-6 treatments at 3 week intervals (ideally over 2 years to show really good results). Every brand out there is just complex sugar (unsulfered molasses), humic acid (compost or manure breakdown remnants), and some simple bacterial/yeast remnants (it can’t be live cultures as it’s shelf stable and has a long shelf life). You can totally mix your own, although the humic acid is about 75% of the cost at small quantities…beer, molasses, 3-4 drop of dish soap (make sure it’s not anti-bacterial), humic acid, and toss in some yeast/kombucha/live compost/manure for a real kickstart on bacterial growth.

With regards to dilution rates, you’re always going to be fine if you follow Allyn’s method of using 1 gallon of water per 1000sq ft. Like D-Thatch is 7:1, which means you need 7oz of water for every 1oz of product, so if you use 9oz per of D-Thatch per 1000, that means you need 63oz of water for that 9oz, and if you’re using 1 gallon of water per 1000, and a gallon is 128oz, you’re good, you’ve doubled your water requirements for that application, which is why a lot of the NeXT products are such low app rates to begin with.

Great video and love the experiment. In my opinion the product works however is very subjective. For those in warm season I think works best than for us in cool season when the high temperatures are not around to long.

Interesting experiment. I'm looking forward to the results. With that in mind I would think it would take 3-4 weeks before you saw results, if not longer. How long do you have to wait before you water. To many days of no watering will turn my KBG brown (90+). Don't worry about answering the questions, just go out enjoy the sand & water and forget about grass. I can wait.
Have a great vacation with the family. "Don't Worry, Be Happy".

Have you tried a pull test if not a watering issue?

So its fine not to water it in? I was gonna let it sit for about a day before watering in.

Awesome! We just start back doing it at our church and I’m leading the teen boys. I was in it as a little one myself. God bless Kyle! Glad to have fellow Rangers around.

Don't think of them as "little bugs". The product contains yeast, the same yeast that is used to rise bread, you might have a little jar in your fridge. The molasses in the product acts as a food source for the yeast, and for microbes that already exist within the soil, the microbes and yeast feed on the molasses and dead organic material. They heat just increases their metabolism and they are more effective compared to if it is in the winter or in the spring they can't move very fast.

Talk about a man with knowledge…wow. Thanks for that Patrick. Super informative. I’m always needing to learn that’s for sure.

I've been using this for 2 years now and haven't had any results. Honestly haven't really seen much of any benefits from using any of the NEXT bio stim pack products. Not only that its kind of a pain to use and stains everything. I won't be purchasing again. I'll stick with protene granular ferts and leave it at a that. Just my experience.

Dead grass is not thatch. With dead grass you need to rake it out. Thatch layer is lower than the dead grass.

I hear you man…however this is literally from the Yard Mastery site describing the D thatch product. “Thatch is the layer of dead grass between your healthy turf grass and soil/root system.” So to say dead grass isn’t thatch isnt exactly correct but I know what you mean.
